It's the offseason, and we don't have much else to do. In conjunction with the "I was wrong thread", here is the "I was right" thread. List all the things you said would happen with the Skins that came true. Links are encouraged.
I'll obviously start it off once again:
1) Said defense would be top 10 in '07, called it in July
http://www.extremeskins.com/forums/showthread.php?t=202941
2) Said team would win out and make playoffs in '07
http://www.extremeskins.com/forums/showthread.php?t=227359
3) Said Mathis would be released
http://www.extremeskins.com/forums/showthread.php?p=5144389#post5144389 (post 37)
4) Said Carter would improve on his '06 numbers (can't access that far back, please believe me :D )
5) Said Monk and Green would both make HOF in Jan. '08
http://www.extremeskins.com/forums/showthread.php?t=235451
6) Called Rogers beating Smoot for CB2 spot

I said in 2002 when Rock was drafted by the Skins......the 3rd to the last pick in the 7th round........that he would stick around....had heart......and would work his heart out to make this team.
I nailed it.
My posts from that time have long disappeared.......but we know what we know.

I think I remember that too, lol. You and Lombardi's Kid Bro I think were both saying it.

I thought Michael Westbrook would have a very good season in 1999...
I thought Moss would end up being a gamebreaker for us, much moreso than either Coles or Gardner...
I thought the defense would return to form in 2007 and prove that 2006 was just a bad year (just didn't get all the specifics right lol)...
I thought the Skins would make the playoffs in 2007...
I thought Andre Carter would become a double-digit sack DE...
I thought Anthony Montgomery would end up being seen as a steal (still might have to wait on that, but so far so good)...
I thought Rocky McIntosh would prove to be a playmaker and that we'd be glad we drafted him...
I thought Carlos Rogers would rebound from his 2006 season and have his best season to date (damn injury  )...
I thought Jason Campbell would throw more TDs, less INTs, and have a higher QB rating than Vince Young by the end of last season...although I guess that really doesn't say much lol...
I thought Portis would have another 1,500 + yard season in 2005 (mainly because we had Jansen back)...
I thought the Skins would draft a TE with their second pick in this year's draft... :silly:

Joe Jurevicius >>>> B. Lloyd. (Before we acquired Lloyd.)
This may seem obvious now, but people were peeing their pants with excitement at the time over getting Lloyd.

1 - Called the Monday nighter against Dallas in 2005.
http://www.extremeskins.com/forums/showthread.php?t=114884
2 - Called the Redskins making the playoffs in 2005 after losing to San Diego and falling to 5-6. (I am still most proud of this).
http://www.extremeskins.com/forums/showthread.php?t=129890
3. Called the offensive line injuries and subsequent downfall in 2006. I actually harped on this quite a bit.

4. Called Chris Cooley's big 2007 season. (Truth be told though, most people saw this coming).

I said that Mike Williams (WR USC) was crap... and I was lambasted for it by the swarm who wanted to draft him. So yah, I nailed that one :)
I also said that this franchise will never be a perennial contender w/o a bonifide franchise qb. I took a lot of **** for that, too. :) so far I'm right of course

Oh, and unrelated to the 'skins, I've been saying for years that David Carr was garbage.
I had to patiently listent to everyone say it was his offensive line... and that he's a "great QB, he just needs time" :jerk:
In the NFL, it's all about pocket awareness and release. Which is why Drew Bledsoe played behind a terrible Oline, and Tony Romo plays behind an all-pro line. (Same line :dunce: ) And it's also why Dan Marino never got sacked despite playing behind some of the most mediocre lines in the history of the sport.
So anyways... to all of you I had that argument with... suck it. :) You know who you are :silly:

Anyone remember this post from 2005?
One of the greatest predictions I've ever seen... from our good friend Mick.
http://www.extremeskins.com/forums/showthread.php?t=115045
I want the Cowboys to experience a gut-wrenching loss that feels worse
than being wallopped 42-3. I want them to feel like we tore their heart
out. I want them to know the feeling of ineffable heart-break and despair.
And I want them to know that their reign over Washington is over.
He made that prediction just before the game. :notworthy :notworthy :notworthy

*edit- forgot, he bumped the thread in December right before our 2nd game against the Boys at home... and he called for a thrashing... epic! :applause:

2. I was sure that last year was Williams' last season prior to the beginning of the year.

Considering how much he had improved near the end of '06, I thought Carter would have an excellent season in '07. Got that right :)
When trying to make sense of why we didn't draft a guy like Alan Branch, I wondered if Anthony Montgomery and Kedric Golston had come far along enough to justify not picking Branch. I was right on that.
Despite the talks of Betts and Portis splitting carries, I always had this nagging suspicion that it wouldn't last and that Portis would become our workhorse yet again. It happened.
That's all I got off the top of my head.

I can't really back it up with proof here, but I told 3 different redskin fans I ran into while out that last year we were going to run the table and make the playoffs again. Everyone of them disagreed with me and told me we were done.

- Skins finishing 9-7 in 07
- Skins losing to Bills Wk 13 (Most were saying we'd win, I thought the players would be too caught up in the death of their friend.) I did think we would win out after they layed Sean to rest
- Also, by about Week 3 I was saying it would be a down year for running backs in the NFL, and not a single runner got to 1,500 yards this season.

Oh! I almost forgot my best "nailed it" moment
Last offseason there was a poll in the ATN about who should be the Browns starting QB: Brady Quinn, Charlie Frye, or Derek Anderson.
And I was the only one who voted for Derek Anderson :D :D It was a public poll thats how I know. (I tried to search for it but found nothing, if anyone can find it please post)

I believe you. Actually though, if you check the link I put up where I too said we'd run the table, my poll in there had 55% saying we would NOT. None of hose people have bothered posting in the "I was wrong" thread, lol.

I knew we'd pick up a WR with our first pick this year
I knew ST was nowhere near as bad as people were making him out to be after his 06 season
I knew we'd run the table in 05 to make the playoffs
I knew Smoot wasn't as bad as his time in Minny had people believing
I knew Portis and Betts wouldn't split more carries despite Betts' performance in 06
I knew our D could return to top ten in 07

My first post was probably the best in this regard...September, 2005:
"Looks like a tough sched, but I think 10-6 this year...and anything can happen in the playoffs with Gibbs at the helm.
Maybe I'm too much of a homer...but, that's what this site is for, right?"

Leading up to the 2001 draft I was begging the Redskins to draft guard Steve Hutchinson with our first rounder.
Instead we took WR Rod Gardner with Hutchinson going two picks later. Not only did we miss out on an elite LG at a position that has been a revolving door for us, but we also took a WR bust where FOUR Pro Bowl WRs were drafted after Gardner (S. Moss, C. Johnson, R. Wayne, S. Smith).

I knew that Rocky was going to be something special early on.
I remember a play where he was walking off the field, thinking he wasn't supposed to be in for that particular play and GW starts yelling at him and telling him to get back on the field.
It was third and short and Rocky sprints from the sideline and makes the hit on the RB as he jumps over the pile to stop the guy short.
I thought to myself, that's how you make up for mistakes--an impressive trait for a young player.

In terms of long-term damage, the Stubblefield signing was far worse. If you count the 1st and 3rd rounders we had to give up, Wilkinson comes in a close second.
