I didnt see a Direct Tv Sunday Ticket thread and the search option displayed error messages when I tried using it. :dallasuck

I know every year that people are able to get the service at a reduced rate and the Superfan option for free. Has anyone been able to get a reduced price this year and anything for free? I want to have an idea of what I can negotiate when I call them prior to the start of the season.
Thanks!

I dont understand how you can enjoy sunday ticket when all the games come on at the same time. I cant enjoy watching multiple games at once. I think its a waste of money.

Last year I called up and told the lady I have been getting Sunday Ticket for years and that I deserve to get the Superfan for a reduced rate. She put me on hold and came back saying her supervisor approved it and that I would be getting it half price. Well, that never happened and I forgot to follow back up about it

Im gonna try again this year, but it's all good, I'd pay the hundred just to get the games in HD. Living in Charlotte, we only get Panthers games so, the only way to get the Skins in HD (if the Panthers are playing in the same time slot and station) is to have Superfan.

I got $20 off and superfan free. I called direct T.V. and asked did they have any specials on NFL Ticket. I received a direct t.v. email on the sale a day later.

I dont understand how you can enjoy sunday ticket when all the games come on at the same time. I cant enjoy watching multiple games at once. I think its a waste of money. In order to see all the Skins games, I have to have it because I live in Panthers country. I usually look at the matchups and flip over during commercial breaks/time-outs to see whats going on in other games. Flip to another game during half-time and when the Skins game is over.

Then you get to pick what game you want to watch in the other time slots, which is really nice when the Skins play on Monday or Sunday nights or at 4pm.

I had Sunday Ticket last year, so this year I called to cancel it since it showed up on my bill. They first tried to give me Superfan for free.. It was tempting, then they offered a $10/month discount for 6 months, and Starz for 3 months. I took it

Enjoy

My god, I remember when I paid $99 a year for the Sunday Ticket.

But I got upset with Directv because these people don't know how to market this service for football lovers. As you mentioned, there are way too many games for anyone to watch. Why can't they give you a choice of choosing a package that supports, maybe three games at the most. Thirteen games is impossible to watch.

Narrow it down and make more money.

Try living in NJ and hope you can find a place to watch the skins because they won't be on TV, also, I won't sit and watch the giants, cowgirls, or eagles, I'd rather watch any other team. Oh yea, let me not forget about "FANTASY FOOTBALL", that's the other reason.

The Sunday Ticket in HD is the greatest invention since sex.

I love being able to scroll through the 4:00 games after the Skins.

Also, whenever the Skins aren't playing, it's nice to watch whatever game you'd like, instead of only watching what your local affiliates are providing.

I agree - I am a Skins fan first and cant miss a game but watching multiple NFL games - being able to flip to any game at any moment - is awesome.

I am calling today to get my superfan for free. The HD is the only way to watch - call me an HD Snob but its the truth.

This year I got the recurrent subscriber rate for the nfl package (30 off regular price I think) and called to complain about the $99 for superfan. Basically told them they need to be better to loyal customers and give me superfan for free (which is what they are doing for new subscribers). Works every time, am getting superfan for free again this year. This will be my third superfan year, and the third time I have not paid a dime for it.

Pretty much just another way for them to try and suck an additional $100 out of you.
I think it gives you the ability to watch like 8 games at the same time or something like that and also provides you with a couple extra channels that show live highlights and when teams are in the redzone. Plus, they condense the games into 30 minute broadcasts and replay them throughout the week. Its all a bunch of crap that you don't need and probably would never even take advantage of. Except, the biggest thing is, you can only get the games broadcast in HD with the Superfan package.

They should let you pick:
Your favorite team and thier division teams games
And let you pick 2 games a week that you want to see.

I will pay about $50-$75 for that.

I've never had to pay for SuperFan...I just call them up and tell them I ahve been a DIRECTV subscriber since 1994 and have spent over $18,000 in programming and that I need them to show me a little LOVE for all that loyalty...and they do.

I also add that when I'm on hold the recording tells me that I am on the "A" list. I say I need to see just how VALUABLE the "A" list is...

I have a new antenna in my attic that will allow me to get the Redskins in HD but if I was in another market, I would definitely have renewed.

I had the ticket for 9 years and it was enjoyable but with things the way they are, have to cut costs and that was a luxury that I was not getting the return on my investment.

So, if I have never had the NFL package or Superfan; I won't be able to get any money off if I buy the NFL package with Superfan? I'm going to buy it even if I have to pay full price but if I can get a deal on it; it would make my day.

Now if you wait a few minutes, and they don't offer, just call back a couple of hours later and get somebody different. They are really trying to hold on to customers now against Verizon FIOS invading neighborhoods.

Just call instead of ordering it online. You'll need to pay to get superfan if you purchase the package online. I was going to do that, but i wanted to talk to someone so i could ask them about blackouts. I just said, so the superfan is $99 dollars? She said, no, we can do it for free. She didn't even need any approval to do this.

Another nice thing about superfan is if you won't be home on a certain week. You can get the game on your laptop, if you can get a fast internet connection wherever you are.

It all depends on who you get. I got 1/2 off Superfan and some free Showtime. Only been a dtv subscriber for a few years. I'm going to try to make sure to cancel the auto-renewal at the end of the year so I have a little more leverage (them trying to bring me in to the package instead of keeping me from going out).

Cool - just got off the phone with them. I got the Superfan for free and then $10 credit each month for 6 months - so it ends up being $189 total.

I called customer retention line: 800-824-9081 (they are different than cust service and are really helpful) and told them that my wife said I had to cancel.

Yeah, I sound like I am ball-less but I just saved a ton of cash!

This is my first year of Sunday ticket, and I paid the whole $260+, so now that I read here about discounts, I have questions.
Can you get discounts on your first year or you always pay the almost $300?
Could I get Superfan for free, given that is just my first year?

I need some help on how to ask so I can get the superfan for free. I called the customer retention line, told them I've been a customer for 4 years....moved twice and still chose DTV over cable as well as upgraded my packages. I want the Sunday Ticket and I know there are offers for new customers what kinda of offers are there for loyal customers.

She said hold on, checked stuff, told me that she could knock $10 off for 6 months to bring the ticket to $189, but I couldn't get the Superfan for free, she told me that was $99. So I said it isn't worth it then and she just let me get off the phone.

What more do I need to say? Do I need to be mean or what?

A little help here.

If you guys don't know yet, you now have the option of paying the Ticket over 12 months instead of the one time payment or the 3 or 4 monthly payments. I called to cancel all of DTV (bluff) and they gave me a HD DVR, $10 off a month and free HD programming for a year. The ticket is like $20 a month, so I basically got it free since they gave me the $10 off and free HD ($10) which saves me $20 a month. My bill is the same but now I have the Ticket :)

If you want to play hard ball with the retention department, you can't be under contract. If you aren't under contract, you can get a lot of 'perks' threatening to go to cable.

As far as trying to get Superfan for free, just keep calling back and try different people. Some people won't budge, some people don't care to give it to you. I called and said I've paid over $1200 a year over the past few years to get the Ticket and HD so it's ridiculous to pay another $100 to get the Ticket in HD. Plus I brought up that they don't even have my local channels in HD yet. Just keep calling back until they bite.

For those bashing the Ticket, the Ticket is still a good deal for many people. I'd spend more than what the Ticket costs watching the first 4 games at a bar. I have a family now, so it's not as easy to go to a bar and the Skins games are rarely shown locally. Not to mention my Redskins bar in my basement would be extremely jealous. Plus we get to watch all the other games. The RedZone channel in HD is awesome to watch when you don't want to zero in on a single game (obviously when the Skins aren't playing). It's a no brainer for some of us...hell, I'd pay $500 if I had to.

I have had DTV for about 6 or 7 years and the TOTAL amount of time it's been out has probably been under 10 minutes. When it storms REALLY hard, it sometimes goes out for about 20 seconds. It's really a non issue.

I have been a customer for about 6 years and last year was my first year subscribing to Sunday Ticket. I saw this thread and thought what the hell, so i called them and they gave me superfan for free and $10 off each month for a year, basically saving me half price. I just called the customer service number off my bill and told the lady I was thinking of cancelling the Sunday Ticket since times are getting hard and asked her was there anything she could do to help me out.She said every customer has a certain discount Directv can give them, thus the half price and superfan.
I told my brother in law this, so he called and said the same thing and he got superfan for free and $10 off for only 6 months. He has had directv for over 10 years. He was happy about the freebie but questioned their methods of giving discounts. Go figure.

When my bill came in they had automatically added the Sunday Ticket because I had it last year. The bill was for the $30 off (6 payments of $41.50) and when I checked my account, I noticed that I have Superfan listed for free. I didn't even have to call them.

After having the ticket for 7 yrs I thought this may be the year to cancel (I realized I would then spend my Sundays at the bar---Which would cost me alot more in the long run)

I called customer service to "cancel" and they gave me my JULY service for FREE ( $59) and instead of paying 6 installments I only need to pay 5 ($41 value) and $10 off my monthly rate for a year ($ 120)----Total savings of $220

I believe my Sunday ticket is going to cost me about $65:cheers:

I have to get the ticket in order to watch the 'skins since I live in Michigan. What really burns me up is the exclusive deal that DTV has with the NFL. If any other service had the ticket I would probably switch in less than a heartbeat.

Anyways, threatening to switch to cable has always helped me get a discount on DTV (free HBO or Superfan for example).
