So today was interesting. First, I had breakfast with Nomar Garciaparra. He was sitting at the counter at one of my favorite breakfast spots(Uncle Bill's Pancake House in Manhattan Beach) and I sat down next to him. It was kinda empty. I'm not the type of person to bother famous people, but I wanted to talk to him. "What up Nomar man." "Hey," was his response. I place my order and thought of something to say. "Being an Orioles fan, I'd be interested to what you think about Camden Yards," I asked. "Love playing there. When it first started the infield was kinda rough, but it evened out real nice." "Yeah, I'm kinda biased, but I still say it is one of the nicest stadiums in the majors. A lot of newer ballparks modeled themselves after it." He nodded his head in agreement. That's it. I should've asked him what his favorite ballpark is in the NL and how much Cal Ripken infspired him, but I didn't want to bother the dude while he was eating his waffles. He said goodbye and I wished him good luck down the stretch. He seems like a cool person.
Then I got home and had an earthquake. Nothing major. All this could only mean one thing: We are going to crush the Yankees again.

When it first started the infield was kinda rough, but it evened out real nice."
OPACY has one of the slowest infields in the major leagues (the dirt part, not the grass). It has a lot more clay than most since it has such a good drainage system. Many other stadiums that didn't spend the $ like the O's did anduse a lot less clay in the dirt as it dries faster.
Wow. I am a HUGE nerd for knowing that... moving on....

I was sitting on his left and I noticed a knee sock(I forget the proper name of those things, you know what I mean though, basketball players wear them all the time) on his left knee. I didn't think much of it at the time, I just figured it might have been a precautionary thing. But yeah I just read that MCL strain thing. I didn't see if he was limping or anything. He's only played 27 games this year, so I can't imagine he'll be playing that much this year anymore. I'll cheer for him though, he had some tough injuries this year, and his career really.

Wow. I had to head out after the Millar HR, but it seems like it was quite an eventful last six innings. I love reading the game threads if I miss some or all of the game, it tells you the whole story ha. I'll do that before I read a recap. It went from elation, to frustration, to anger, to jubilation. Huff with the huge game, he is such a baller. I said he would have a rebound season but I honestly didn't anticipate this. If we keep him I would not be against it(although if we trade him I could totally understand that since his value has to be sky high). Cabrera ejected on some bull****? I'll have to try to find that highlight. Sherrill makes it interesting? Well, what else is new. Hopefully that didn't hurt his trade value. Excellent win. Sweep tommorow would be sweet!
TheDoyler23
July-30th-2008, 07:30 AM
Cabrera ejected on some bull****? I'll have to try to find that highlight.
What makes it more annoying is the ESPN highlight sets it up like it was intentional. Its a 6-1 game with a runner already on. Its a TERRIBLE time to hit a guy and give the Yanks another baserunner.
It could have changed the outcome of the game on its ear. Cabrera was doing the Cabrera version of cruising (allows base runners, but gets dp's and weak outs and stays effective). It forced Johnson into the game when he wasn't ready and the whole team looked dazed after that. Jones lobbing in Giambi's single to let Arod score was an example of an inexperienced guy trying to get his head straight.
The only ppl involved who thought it was intentional was Fairchild behind the plate and Girardi, who is a hot head and maybe is trying to rile the troops a little. Girardi is a terrible manager. Terrible. How Sexon doesn't hit when the ONLY thing he does is hit against leftys is beyond me.
We'll see if an O gets plunked today. Its a good opportunity as they can warn the benches and perhaps rattle Sarfate a little, who is making his STARTING debut IN Yankee Stadium... oh, and he is from the bronx. So yea... Expect Markakis or Huff to take one today. (Girardi is a prick.)

Day game today. Sucks, I look forward to watching the games when I go home at night. Oh well, looks like I'll have to follow this one from work.

I didn't know Joba the Hut was pitching today. Could there be a more overated pitcher in ESPN's eyes. Damn Huff lined out. Watching gamecast on SI.com since I'm at work.

8-2. Looks like this one is over for the day boys. Well, 2 out of 3 at NY isn't bad. Prepare for Seattle/LA.

OH is buzzing because Walker was warming in the 'pen only to NOT enter the game. Then, in the next half inning, Castro pinch hit for Huff.
Some over there think a deal just went down!!
On the field...at least we took 2/3 from the Yanks!

Read that the Phillies (Gillick) is interested in Sherrill, but they don't have a SS for us. Screw that, get a starting pitcher. Gillick drafted Sherrill when both were with Seattle.
