View Full Version : Desean's Boner Wasn't His First

Desean Jackson's colossal hot dogging blunder last night wasn't even the worst one in his short football career.
Watch this one, from 3 years ago at the 2005 U.S. Army All-American Bowl, a high school all-star game. Very similar circumstances, but even more hot-doggish, with the same result:

Oh I will. As long as he's with the Eagles, I hope it haunts his every game.

you mean like Carl Ellers' wrong way run?
Garo Yepremian Int?
Leon Letts thanksgiving touching the ball rekick?
Joe Pisarcik, Czonka's fumble against the Eagles?
Bonehead plays are never forgotten

Everyone remembers Leon Lett's premature celebration in the first SB against the Bills. It didn't affect the outcome one bit since the Boys were already up by 35 points, but EVERYONE still recalls that play.
I see no reason why this will be different. No, it wasn't a playoff game, it was just regular season, but he'll have that play be one of the lowlights of his career for a long time.

I think it probably won't be as well remembered because Westbrook managed to score on the next play. Had the Eagles not scored or had it been ruled Dallas ball, and especially if the score ended up being the difference maker at the end, it certainly would have become infamous. In that situation, I don't think anyone in the NFC East would ever let him forget it.

Yup, pretty much. Everyone still talks about Gus Frerotte's headbutt as if it was only 5 years ago. It's been well over 10 years since now, but people will always remember it. It's almost a poster of the futility of the mid-late 90s Redskins.
Oh, and of course the favorite around here, Romo's fumble against Seattle in 2006. Yup, I doubt any of us ever forget that one no matter what Romo does (Hall of Fame, Super Bowl, etc...).

Well he does seem to have a problem with premature release.

Not that it makes much of a difference, but the AA Bowl that he did that swan dive in is actually a high school all star game. not college.

actually the Gus headbutt is so in the new version of Madden 09 for xbox.
i was playing a guy yesterday and we were at Fedex. his player scored a touchdown and his player ran to the wall and ran into it... and fell on the ground acting hurt... it was certainly a play on Gus, i just found it funny that its in a video game now!

But I wonder if all of his antics are foreshadowing anything?

Reminds me of years ago of hearing Sonny say "He's going to have to live with this boner for a long time."
Regis also proclaimed on Regis and Kelly that he "pulled a boner". When he made a mistake.
Great word for mistake. I've pulled many boners before.

We should all be so lucky. That reminds ME of the joke about the guy with a hard-on that wouldn't quit. In desperation he went to every pharmacy in town, without success. Finally he went to the last one, owned by a pair of 80 year old old-maid sisters. He told one of them his story, and asked her "what can you give me for it?"
She went in back and conferred with her sister, and after a few minutes came back out and told him "we talked it over and the best we could do is $50,000 and the title to the store."

He and Eddie Royal look like the class of these WRs so far. Eddie Royal is a beast. Eddie can get into the endzone though. Even when DeSean gets in he still can't get in.

tr1: How'd you know Jackson was going to be good? I had seen some highlights of him in college, but to be honest I've been reserving judgement of him to see how he does against NFL corners. But, as the #1 receiver on MNF against the "best team EVER", I was suitably impressed, even with the moronic move at the 1.
No idea how Brown retains his starting job once Curtis is 100%. Unless they're going to put curtis in the slot (which would be nice), but I can't see them paying him that money as a #3.
Anyway, just curious how you knew he was going to be as good as he's looked, albeit after two weeks.

I think if Jackson had Brandon Marshal he'd get in a bit more too. Having Baskett on the opposite side of the field allows defenses to play Jackson over the top more so he's not going to get as many opportunities.
Obviously throwing the ball backwards at the 1 isn't going to help his TD numbers.
