Anyone want to guess which one came first of the 8?

While I agree that the Redskins-Cowboys Rivalry is the NFL's best, I'm not so sure about a number of those other listed rivalries... The NFC North (Green Bay, Minnesota, Chicago) have some pretty fierce rivalries as well....

I love our rivaly w/ Dallas, but to exclude Bears/Packers is a crime when that one spans nine decades.

Maybe this list was based upon playoff games in the TV era, but that wouldn't explain Eagles/Giants.

NO question!!! Skins/Boys is the most heated. The players feel it too...

I think the rivalry between the Redskins and Cowboys is far and away #1, its one of the few that is still a big deal even if both or one of the teams is bad.

A lot of those other rivalries are only good if both teams are contenders. There is nothing special about about a 49er Cowboy game now.

I would the Giants and Redskins should have made this list.

cowboys-49ers #3?? really?

That has long since dissipated, IMO. The Boys-49ers game in November just won't have that same aura to it that it did in the 90's. All of the division games with the Boys are bigger.

edit: although now that I think of it, I'm guessing they are ranking which rivalries were the best, when they occurred. And that would make sense, b/c I HATED the 49ers with a passion, and so did the team.

I would add Browns/Steelers into the top 10 with Greenbay/Minny/Bears

I loved the Oilers and Steeler matchups from the late 70's early 80's! Bum against Chuck ....Campbell trying to run on the Steel Curtain!

I also thought the 49ers and Rams series in the 80's was one of the best.

I was surpised to not see Bears/Packers or something like that, but I loved the Cowboys/Redskns rivalry topping the list as it should.

That was seriously weak.

Niners/Giants? Give me a break. Eagles/Giants is MUCH bigger. Always has been.

Division rivals always trump rivalries between teams that happen to be good at the same time for a few years.

I'm glad Skins/Boys were #1 but Bears/Packers HAS to be at least #2.

Steelers/Browns?

Browns/Ravens?

How could anyone over the age of 20 leave stuff like that off?

That was terrible. Even after a great start with the Skins Dallas rivalry, the rest was a let down.

I would have thought Chiefs-Raiders would still be up there. Certainly more than 49ers Cowboys.

One gripe...no Ravens rivalry can be on an all-time rivalry list.

Some of those rivalries are kind of odd, but at least they didn't say the Iggles/Cowpies rivalry was bigger than the Redskins/Cowpies rivalry like another publication. :cardsuck:

Co-sign. After #1, many of the others were bogus.

yeah...no doubt about it...I'd go as far as saying biggest rivalry in sports. Lakers/Celtics and Yanks/Red Sox are pretty close though.

That was a pretty sorry list. How about Packers/Bears? That rivalry goes back almost to the start of the NFL. The bears were originally named the Staley's and the first time they played each other was 1921 (87 years ago) at Wrigley Field. Even the Redskins/Cowboys rivalry only goes back to the 60s.

But the Bears havn't been as good as the Packers, so there hasn't really ever been a power struggle like in the NFC East.

Look at the Steelers/Raiders. Its not necessarily history, its a conflict of power in an era. Patriots/Colts for instance

I agree that Bears/Packers should DEFINITELY be in there. Though isn't it interesting that the NFCE is in more than half of those?

At least they got #1 right. It's definitely Redskins-cowboys.
