Should have mentioned earlier in the week how impressive the pace of the Skins offense was in the second half Sunday. They were much closer to the tempo Jim Zorn (http://www.washingtonpost.com/wp-dyn/content/article/2008/09/16/AR2008091602965.html)wants. The offense's ability to protect the football could be huge as well. Turnovers are always a difference-maker, but the Cardinals have been particularly prone to them in recent seasons.
Kurt Warner has had a great start this season, but he is notorious for failing to secure the ball. Even a little contact on him can go a long, long way. He fumbles easily and is among the NFL leaders this decade in fumbles in the pocket, according to sources with access to such stats. He's the quintessential clock-and-timing guy as well; if you can throw him off his rhythm just a bit and disrupt him from the script, he tends to make poor decisions.
The Skins' game plan in recent years against the Cards was predicated on this element of play, sources said. They dropped ends into coverage and tried to keep the offense off balance as much as possible, disguising blitzes with exotic packages (the Skins do much less of this now).
