They can take the "conservative" title and throw it out the window because that isn't what they are. Whoever calls themselves a conservative and would consider voting for Obama isn't a a "consevative". I know HH wants to earn the respect of all on this board be trying to be "reasonable" and " undertanding" personally I think his stance his weak. I am a conservative, and Obama is far from being a conservative.

There aren't "conservatives" who are voting for Obama. There are "republicans" who are voting for Obama. There is a big difference. But there's a large number of democrats who are voting McCain. In every election you see candidates pulling people from the other side of the political spectrum, and this election is no different.

You have a point. So I'll use another example: You were praising Lieberman for taking a principal stand in supporting McCain.
There is no difference between Lieberman supporting McCain and H_H (if its true) supporting Obama.
The only difference I see is that it's OK (in your mind) for Lieberman to support McCain because he's your candidate.
So by the same token, you should respect H_H for his decision (assuming this is legit).

I actually don't respect HH for his decision and I don't respect HH for constantly trying to walk a fine line of popularity when it comes to politics. He constantly tries to walk in the middle of the road when it comes to politics , while calling himself a conservative when any self repecting conservative would never vote for Obama.

Anyone who has read this board long enough should know HH has never shied away from taking unpopular stances around here. I disagree with him on many, many things, but the guy speaks from his heart and never says something he doesn't mean.

Ok, I got to inform everyone about what "Truly" happened (I know, MIA is spoiling the show).
H_H was unsuspectedly tagged with about 3 Obama stickers on the back of his jersey, until I, being the respectful republican I am, could not stand to watch this go down, so I informed him of his misfortune.
At first he didn't believe me, until I peeled off said stickers and showed him. This was the ingenious work of a certain, TLC and company.

Positive?
Maybe a little too strong. I do think the guy has some good ideas, and as I've told TLC in our many discussions about this race, this WILL be the first time in my voting life that I won't be utterly heartbroken if the democratic nominee wins. But to say my overall view of Obama is positive is probably a bit of a stretch.
Anyway, many thanks to Yusuf and Henry for your kind words in this thread. I appreciate it.
As for you ****ers at the tailgate yesterday, thanks a lot for nothing. I can't believe how quick you all can be to defame someone in such a way.
Not only did you put Obama stickers on my back, but while I was passed out, you ALSO put a Jason Campbell jersey on me (He's a black quarterback.) So now people around here are starting to think of me as something other than an inbred skinhead.
Do you have any idea how much time and effort it toook to create that persona? How many times I had to bash affirmative action, or defend flying the confederate flag, or support the right of hate groups to protest peacefully? And now you all have gone and ****ed it all up.
Hell, knowing you guys, you probably got pics of me shaking hands with Sweet Sassy Molassy, or carrying on a conversation with Chappelle. You good for nothing bastages.
I guess it was partly my fault for tailgating with the half-Japanese guy, and Johnny the Greek. But you all didn't have to document it. Without your interference, I could have simply denied any association with anyone other than pure aryans.
So thanks. I'm off to start a "David Duke for President" thread, in an effort to restore my bad name. Thanks again, for nothing. ;)

Not totally, but just a little bit.
You are absolutely correct that the Rev. Wright controversy soured me on him a good bit. And though I do believe that that's been blown out of proportion, having called Rev. Wright his "close personal friend and mentor" is cause for at least a little bit of alarm, IMO.
The whole "oh BTW, did I mention he's black" thing got to me too. Especially after my state was blanketly (is that a word?) accused of being racist for not voting for a guy who didn't bother to campaign here.
I've called Obama the first "true" black leader of our time. And I stand by that, he's certainly not a race-divide exploiting hack like Jackson or Sharpton. But I thought he was above playing the "card," so that one was frustrating.
That being said, I like the idea of tax breaks for fathers who pay their child support. (God knows we can use all the help we can get.) I like the fact that he asks people to do everything they can for themselves, before asking for gov't assistance. I like the fact that he says he'll pursue Al Qaeda/the Taliban into Pakistan. He DOES have some good ideas.
My biggest hangups with Obama are the same as my biggest hangups with McCain: healthcare and illegal immigration. And those are the primary reasons I'll likely cast a write-in ballot. (Though there are two things that might sway me back to the GOP fold; Palin and the probable nomination of two supreme court justices in the next four years.)
But anyway, don't misunderstand me BRAVE. I think Obama's a good guy with a good heart. And when I say that my view of him isn't "positive," I'm speaking only politically.

Agreed. If someone has a decent handle on WHY they'll vote the way they will and understands the positions of both sides, I can certainly respect their decision. I only have a real problem when supporters of either side only know the talking points and have no real handle on the issues. OTOH, that's probably 90% of the electorate. :(
