Didn't see this posted... not much of a surprise though. So much for "not missing an NFC East game". This guy is great, but injured way too much. And I'm not QUITE comfortable with Tryon taking his place.

http://voices.washingtonpost.com/redskinsinsider/2008/10/springs_unlikely_to_play_today.html

Shawn Springs' calf injury has not responded to treatment as quickly as he and the team had hoped and he is virtually certain to be out today against the Eagles in Philadelphia, a source has said. Justin Tryon would be up in his place. Although Tryon has struggled, he matches up pretty well against Philly's small, fast receivers.

Justin Tryon? omfg! This aint good.

This is why you have backups. I think you'll probably see a lot of 3 saftey sets with Rogers and Smoot on the outside. They'll probably mix in some other DBs. We'll see.

Skins need to score 30 to win this game regardless.

He so much reminds me of Kelvin Bryant. Bryant was a great player that was always nicked up, and missed a lot of games. When he was on the field, he was awesome.
I used to call him balsa wood

QFT.

KB was one kick-ass third-down back when he was on the field. He just....was never on the field.

God dammit.

I am so nervous about this game now. :(

Why the hell would he say Tryon is in his place?

We have Rogers and Smoot. Yes Tryon will be on the field, but not as our #1.

Not the end of the world here. We still have 3 capable CB's in Rogers Smoot and Torrence. If you throw in the packages that Blache uses with all 3 safeties in the game then we should be ok. Remember this is the Giants or Cowboys Wr's were playing, its the Eagles

Still, shouldn't Torrence be out there instead of JT? I think Torrence has improved steadily from his first action last year until now. As yet, JT has shown me nothing.

What about Leigh backing up Springs instead of Tryon?

HH beat me to it.

I think JLC is trying to set everyone in a tizzy.

Torrence is ahead of Tryon on the depth chart, with Rogers and Smoot at 1 and 2.

A little off topic, Tryon is listed as "Justin Tyron" on Madden 09. :silly:

I'm surprised I never caught that....I guess it's because I never let him see the field :silly:

Don't forget that Smoot gets hurt in every game and always misses a big chunk of plays.

I think Springs will play. He cant miss 2 nfc east games already. Id rather him play today and then take a 3 week vacation.

As cocky a thought as that is, I absolutely agree. I almost feel like we have 3 bye weeks in a row to heal up whoever needs healing up.

Why isn't anyone comfortable with Tryon? Give him a chance before saying "oh no" and all of the negative things. Look at Chris Horton... No one thought he'd make the team, but look what he did his firs 4 months. I'm pretty sure J.T. won't have that success, but he can make some plays! Give him a chance.

Yeah, but other than his game performance, what has concerned you?

You're overreacting.

Tryon for president.

Horton looked great in the preseason.

Tryon looked like :pooh: against backups and backups of backups....

I think we will see more of Landry in corner type coverage. There was talk of him practicing that in one of the articles I read on the other day's practice.

Yes, I did. And that's exactly what it was. "Preseason" as in before the season, games that don't count. Getting the players ready. The coaches obviously believe in him or they would have cut him after camp. Cut Tryon some slack. I would love, just as I'm sure everyone would, including the people saying, "oh no," to see J.T. get a big turnover that changes the game and see how people's tones change. I'm just positive about everything. Always have been, always will be. Got to give him a chance before declaring it's the end of the world.

Well, I did, and I saw a player that was slowly improving with every game. Who's to say that he hasn't improved enough to play?

He was getting burned by guys that are now making a living selling TV's at Best Buy.

We've haven't seen him hang with the big dogs yet.

Hate to hear this.

Torrence looks much improved though........I prefer to see Torrence on the field more than Smoot.

We always have such significant injury problems. So far in this game, the 5th game, we are already down 3 starters on defense. WTF?

Smoot's not who worries me. Its Tryon. He blows.

I don't see it happening.

But I'll gladly eat the crow with seconds and thirds if I'm wrong.

Tryon made the team because Vinnie wasted a high pick on him. He's garbage. He was repeatedly getting burned by UFA in the preseason. If he sees significant playing time, we will lose this game. McNabb/Reid are too smart not to go after him as soon as he hits the field.

Yeah, JT will be in his place JLC. Why is he trying to send fans into a tizzy. Rogers will take Springs place (like he did last week). Smoot will take Rogers place. Leigh Torrence will take Smoots place. If JT is replacing anyone, it's Torrence. We'll probably be playing more Cobra anyway.

I don't like our chances with Springs out. At least, the eagles don't have a physical receiver.
