View Full Version : FedExField Lot Color Changes

I don't think I've seen this posted yet. I guess there have been parking lot color changes this year which are causing confusion among some of the arriving fans on game day, and these changes aren't documented on redskins.com.
Here's what the map looks like on redskins.com and also on the back of your parking pass:
http://www.dclance.com/wp-content/uploads/2008/09/fedexfield-overlay-big-300x263.jpg
Here's how the lots are actually set up on the north and east side of the stadium according to the blog linked below:
http://www.dclance.com/wp-content/uploads/2008/09/fedex-overlay-actual-300x263.jpg
Apparently, platinum now extends along the entire length of the ring road on the east side. Everything that was purple has been shoved into what used to be orange. Everything that was orange has been shoved into what used to be green, and the green lot in this area has been squeezed, meaning it's going to be that much harder to get into that area if you have a green pass and you arrive late. I bet this has effected the ES tailgaters who tailgate near the E43 lampost since that area fills up quicker now.
I think it's kind of a shame the clubs are getting pushed back like that. They were already pushed back on the other side of the stadium, and now here too. When I had clubs in 1997 with club (back then it was gold) parking, I parked and tailgated in A2 right in front of Gate A on the south side, which was very close to the stadium. But we were shoved back little by little, year by year. Eventually, that whole area was changed to suite (purple) parking some years later while the club (orange) parking got pushed back until it was shoved behind the little road there into what used to be general (green) parking. Now the club orange parking is pushed back on this north and east side of the stadium, as well. Too bad.
This guy writing in his blog below must have been pretty pissed because he went to quite a bit of trouble to assemble this post in the link below (it's a pretty amusing read, actually):

I've noticed that every couple of years they've changed the colors around. Sometimes I wonder if it's not to hopefully disguise the fact that they're pushing people farther and farther back in the lots. The sad thing is that it's going to continue until the people in the ridiculously high priced seats stop paying. I can't necessarily blame Snyder for doing this when there are people that are willing to pay obscene amounts of money to park next to the stadium.
I have cash lot parking, and quite honestly I love it. On my way to the buses after every game I see the hassle that a lot of people go through in order to get out of the parking lots, and quite honestly sometimes I think it's not necessarily worth it. All I know is that I normally get on a bus within five minutes, and for some reason they've been able to exit the lots a lot quicker this year so far. In fact, we usually drive up to our lot around 8:30 AM (for a 1 PM game...around 11:30 this coming week), do our tailgating, and then take the bus to the stadium. We then walk around the lot talking to people that we know and such, and we generally end up participating in several other tailgates.

Apparently, everything that was orange is now purple, and orange club has been shoved back into green.

Did anyone notice that they took down the Gate Letters above the stadium entrances.. I park right by Gate D and enter there and the D is gone????
wonder if that messes up anyone that is coming to the stadium for the first time..
One of these days MTH im going to make my way over to the A lot to see ya, it gets hard after a couple jager bombs..:)

We parked in one of the "new" Orange lots for the Rams game and it was by far the fastest we have been able to get out of the lot after the game.

MTH, does the green lot you are normally in remain the same? For now???

LOL. DCLance needs his own regular slot. In lights. That was a funny as heck read.
On the more serious topic, just as the team turns the corner on the field, off it, Redskins bureaucracy strikes again.
Oh Danny, Danny Boy......

It seems from game to game a different parking system is used for no apparent reason. My father and I park in the Green Lot behind the RV parking to the right off Redskins Road. We used to be able to enter the lot and go straight back to park on the right. Now you have to enter the lot, immediately turn left, then immediately turn right, go all the way to the back to get past the concrete curb and then go right to park behind the RV's. I don't blame the parking attendants they are just doing their job. Someone is in charge telling them to do this and it is moronic.

I think the alarming number of cancelled club seat accounts has something to do with it. When my family dropped ours, they actually came back and tried to offer them at half price. Unfortunately they were too late as we already picked up some extra upper deck seats. Turns out we get a better view there too although now we sit in direct sunlight all day.

The north and east side lots are always such a zoo. This is why I like parking on the SW side. It's also much easier to use Morgan Blvd. to Central Ave. whether heading back to DC or the Beltway.
It's easier to get to and from the stadium for people coming from DC and NOVA inside the Beltway. I figure at least 2/3rds of all of the cars coming from the Beltway enter the stadium lots on the north and east sides.

Thanks for posting this Mark. I was going by what was on the back of my parking pass, and now I know better for Sunday.
On the plus side, I can park closer to the Tailgate now.....

Same thing happened to me this weekend. I usually park around F60 or so in the Greens just ot the right of Arena Drive. When I got there Sunday just after 10am, they were not letting people turn in there, rather directing all traffic to the left towards the oranges. Of course that led to a huge row of cars fighting for the same spots, and I ended up way away from where I wanted to be.

That blog was hilarious. I loved his picture illustrations too.
We park in the F Green Lot, and I have noticed that the Green Lot that is now part of the Orange lot (that is still labeled Green) NEVER fills up. There is always a lot of empty spaces there. Meanwhile we are packed in like sardines in the Green Lot. We could use those extra spaces. I don't get their logic at all. :insane:

“The grass is for parking, not for tailgating, those are specified parking spots.”
>> Then where are the lines??? He should bring a 50 lbs bag of lime or a couple of cans of spray paint and create a giant parking space around his car.
Anyway, this makes me even more glad I have a blue pass (except they now let those red pass people park in our lot). IMHO, it's simply a matter of time before green is squeezed into the last row of the stadium lot.

I think I'll stay in the Blue Lot.
Reasonable access back to the beltway, usually traffic isn't too bad.

It's funny that these Green lots are right in front of the stadium yet there is not an Orange lot that close.
MTH, I may be looking to park in your area when I get green next year. Someone from my bowling league is there with his family and others. He told me tonight that they have loads of food ... perhaps he is part of your tailgate?
For now, though, I still have Orange this year and will continue parking where I do now.

Maybe you were in the endzone and now you're on the sidelines?

cheersWell, first of all, the D1 lot that you see there on the ring road doesn't open until 11 AM for your typical 1 PM game. So you have to time your arrival just right to get in there because it fills up quick, and then you only have an hour to set up, tailgate, and then start thinking about breaking down. I don't know why they save that lot for 2 hours prior to kickoff, but they do. They seem to save it until 2 hours prior, then use it for a handicap / overflow lot.
Arriving earlier, you can park in D2. There's a chain link fence that separates D1 and D2. :)

wtf - 1:15 is three hours prior. That's gotta be a typo. In twelve years, I've never seen the lots open that late.
I'm sure the official lot opening time is 12:15, however, they sometimes open it early because the lines are so long they're blocking the intersections leading to the stadium. People tend to arrive extra early for later games. So the lots might open at noon or even earlier.
I'll be in line before 10 AM. I bet Pez will be in line by 8 AM. :)

Brian mentioned that they tailgate at the chain link fence so that would make sense. I'm just hoping that I can get a clear access to the southwestern sky for my portable satellite dish ... (from there, SW is right at the stadium)
That does seem odd about D1 ... cest la vie.

My daughter comes from WV and gets there around 10:50-11:00am for the early games (green pass). She comes in from the beltway on Arena Drive and they direct her to green lot B3 instead of F3 or E3 lots. Should she come in from Landover Rd to get to those lots ?

She comes in from the beltway on Arena Drive and they direct her to green lot B3 instead of F3 or E3 lots. Should she come in from Landover Rd to get to those lots ?No. You can't access those green lots from the Landover Rd entrance. If she wants the E or F lot area, she needs to use Arena Dr but arrive earlier. Those lots fill up very quickly, especially now with the squeezing of the green lots in the E and F area. If she arrives earlier, she'll be allowed to park in the E or F lots. If she arrives late, they'll force her into the B lot or whatever.
