Richie Incognito's (http://sports.espn.go.com/nfl/players/profile?playerId=8495) alleged actions in the St. Louis Rams' (http://sports.espn.go.com/nfl/clubhouse?team=stl) first win of the season did not go unnoticed by the NFL.

The league has fined the Rams offensive lineman a total of $35,000 for multiple offenses allegedly committed during the Rams' 19-17 victory over the Washington Redskins (http://sports.espn.go.com/nfl/clubhouse?team=was) in Week 6.

Incognito, penalized three times during the game, was fined $25,000 for repeated verbal abuse of a game official; $5,000 for a major facemask; and $5,000 for a chop block.

Referee Walt Coleman issued a 15-yard penalty against the Rams after Incognito allegedly berated officials while St. Louis was driving deep in Redskins territory. The penalty turned a potential 34-yard field goal into a 49-yard attempt, which kicker Josh Brown (http://sports.espn.go.com/nfl/players/profile?playerId=4680) converted on the last play of the game to give the Rams their first victory of the season.

Jim Haslett, making his debut as the Rams' head coach, spoke at length with Incognito this week about controlling his emotions. Haslett also took a measure of responsibility for Incognito's actions, saying he had encouraged the offensive line to play with an attitude.

Guys, this is nothing new for Incognito. Check out his Wikipedia entry:

He played at the University of Nebraska, where he became the first freshman starter on the offensive line in school history, and never missed a game. He was suspended indefinitely from the team in a cloud of controversy after fighting off campus. He then enrolled at the University of Oregon, but was again suspended indefinitely and never played a game for the football team.

The Mother****er is an embarrassment to the Rams and the NFL. $35,000 is too light a fine.

As a Nebraska college football fan, he is a complete idiot and leaves a foul odor on the field after that performance. Not too many Huskers (past or present) drafted anymore, He is a poor representive of the fine state..

Obviously I'm a Skins fan (so I appreciated the penalty- which was overdue), but it makes me that more pissed that he used to play for Nebraska. I have a lot of family there.

Nothing bothered me more than him ripping off Fletcher's helmet in the middle of a huge pile. Had Fletcher not stayed upright he could've been permanently damaged for life.

How the officials didn't see it at the time was surprising to say the least... I think knowing that this guy was causing problems the entire time they should've been watching him closely, yet they weren't. That's, once again, another example of bad officiating.

I saw him rip London Fletcher's helmet off.

Good, he should have been fined for that behavior. Sounds like he has a long history of being a jackass...I highly doubt this will be the last of his fines this season.

if they missed the field goal at the end because it was short or because of the distance he would be the most deserving of the game ball. I don't understand how the Rams didn't just cut him from the team right after the game.

Yeah fined $5000 for a major facemask that WAS NEVER CALLED ON THE FIELD!

**** you, refs. He damn near pulled London's head off, and you somehow miss that? Everyone watching the damn thing on TV saw it. He should have been ejected for that ****.

Not denying that the guy is a moron, but why does the NFL have to hand out so many fines? I mean, he was flagged for what he did and almost cost his team a win. This isn't enough? This would be the equivalent to a baseball player for arguing with the ump and getting fined for it a few days later. Why can't the league just leave what happens during the game to the refs? Leave the fines for the serious infractions.

In a recent story in USA Today Sports Weekly, it was disclosed that Incognito has 23 television screens installed inside his 2006 BMW 750, including one in his gas cap door.

While I think you have a point for the fine on the conduct berating a game official I do not think his punishment was high enough for ripping a players helmet off. I admit I am biased (as are most of us here I would image) but not only is what he did unsportsmanlike it is could have caused serious injury. I would have liked to have seen him suspended a game or two and hit with a fine double what he got.

It looks like he said quite a lot. lol. After watching it a few times however, it looks like the word that came out of his mouth right before the ref threw the flag was "*****". I'm not a lip reader but it looked to me like they were telling him that they would throw a flag if he didn't calm down and he called bluff. :2cents:

Well one thing you can say about this player is:

He obviously learned what his college degree major had to teach (communications). He can clearly communicate that he is a first-rate jackass. He can clearly communicate that he didn't like the Redskins players or the officiating crew. Finally, he can clearly communicate in a memorable way.

Who says American Education is a complete failure?

First off, I'm not gonna whine about the loss. However fines don't equal flags, those infractions were flagrant, and if flags were thrown I'm gonna go out on a limb and say the game results in a win for us. Refs need a little punch in their pocketbook too. However to end my post on an entirely different and positive note... Go Portis, Awesome thus far!! HTTR... Hip Hip HOORAY!!
