We haven't played well the last 2 weeks but we are still 5-2. A very unfamiliar position for the Redskins. We are getting to the point where we will be watching what other teams do also. I'm sure the coaches and players will realize what at's stake now. We are in good position to make run for the playoffs but our weaknesses need improve or else we could have a letdown. The NFC is very competive this year. I expect the wild card teams will be one from the NFC EAST and one from the NFC SOUTH.

So how do see us finishing, after 7 weeks.

10/26 @ Lions 1:00 PM ET FOX- Given our offense last 2 weeks, this game scares me a little. Still, I think Clinton can have a big day and we win: 6-2.

11/3 Steelers 8:30 PM ET ESPN- This will be as ugly as today and I figure Steelers win: 6-3

11/9- BYE WEEK

11/16 Cowboys 8:15 PM ET NBC- Both teams will be coming off a bye. Boys will probably be desperate. If we fix our offense, I say we win. If not, the boys will win rematch. I'll think positive and say we sweep them: 7-3.

11/23 @ Seahawks 4:15 PM ET FOX- We finally beat them after 2 playoff losses: 8-3.

11/30 Giants 1:00 PM ET FOX- I think we eek a last minute field goal win: 9-3.

12/7 @ Ravens 1:00 PM ET FOX- Ravens win this one: 9-4

12/14 @ Bengals 1:00 PM ET FOX- We beat what still be the winless Bengals: 10-4

12/21 Eagles 1:00 PM ET FOX- They win the rematch: 10-5

12/28 @ 49ers 4:15 PM ET FOX- We win this game and make a return trip to playoffs: 11-5.

Nahhhhh. We have a grudge to resolve at Seattle.. and they seriously suck. We also won't lose to the Cowboys or the Eagles.. we *may* come up short against the Giants.. but that game is going to mean sooooo much.

The most likely loss is against the Steelers.

HailGreen28

3 and 4. Honestly, I figured our D would've stayed pretty good, but our offense would've sputtered so badly, our D would consistently wear out in the 2nd half. That Zorn would've needed a season or two to get going.

5-2 is great! Hail!

edit: OK I fail at reading comprehension. From here on in, I'm thinking 11-5. Teams figure out Zorn's offense, but we get in the playoffs as a wildcard, and have a good shot at winning the first round, maybe go all the way.

NoCalMike
October-19th-2008, 07:07 PM
Well lets just keep this in mind, Under Joe Gibbs this team played it's best football in December. Twice, we had to run the table to make the playoffs and WE DID.

It would be hard to expect that kind of roll under Jim Zorn, but thankfully at 5-2, if we maintain this type of record, running the table won't be a necessity.

I am hoping for 11-5.

Think about that for a second............ We're 5-2 and we're STILL GROWING.

Burgold
October-19th-2008, 07:07 PM
The question is why the sudden drop in offensive production. Is it just normal growing pains or are D coordinators beginning to figure Zorn out a little bit. I won't make a prediction, but I want to see our O start clicking again. Zorn clearly decided that this game was going to be won on the ground and he was incredibly vanilla and predictable, but for two weeks we've been pretty offensively ineffectual. We need to reverse that.

I honestly don't know. Our defense is outstanding. The offense controls time of possession and makes more yards but doesn't always score - we shouldn't have lost last week and we were lucky to hold on today.

11-5 on the optimistic side... No reason to think this team can not at least be a 10-6 team and earn a wild card spot.

I will also say that besides special teams it seems like our passing game is the only area that is lagging behind. Our running game is outstanding as is our Defense.

You know what is really awful about this schedule? I don't think anyone has mentioned it...at least I haven't heard it....but, the last game is in San Francisco.

We will more than likely be a wildcard team (not to get ahead, but it would be the best bet right now), so the last week of the season we will travel to the west coast, fly home, and then have to travel to one of the division winners....not a gigantic deal...but, kinda sucks.

On a good note....if we: lose a game> win four in a row> lose game> win four in a row> lose game> win four in a row> lose game> win four in a row

....well if we do that, we would be 12-4. We would lose the last game of the season....but go on to win the NEXT four....:)

No reason why we should end up less than 11-5.

Better would be the difference between a team with a solid regular season heading into the playoffs, and a great team trying to go deep into the post season.

Without putting much thought into this at all, I think the skins have at least a 50/50 chance of winning every game left on their schedule. Knowing this team, its talents, its tendancies, I'd say they go 6-3 over the last 9 to finish at 11-5.

WORST CASE SCENARIO:
Win 1 of every 3, final record of 8-8

BEST CASE REALISTIC: Win 2 of every 3, end up 11-5 :jump:

REALISTIC: Win 2 of the next 3, win 3 (at worst) of the last 6, 10-6 (at worst)

I think 10-6 realistically, 8-8 AT WORST. Not bad. :)

1. Is Campbell going to get back on track to where he was after the Dallas and Philly games?

2. Is Portis going to stay healthy?

3. Is Stephon Heyer going to return and allow Chris Cooley to be more effective as a receiver in the passing game?

4. Are Shawn Springs and Jason Taylor going to finally get over nagging injuries and be consistent forces on defense over the last 9 games?

5. Can ONE of the rookies - Thomas, Kelly or Davis - get on the field and give the offense that one additional threat that can really help the Redskins down the stretch?

Give me the answers to these questions and I can handicap these remaining games :)

14-2 until proven otherwise. I expect us to win every game. Looking ahead is irrelevant because the games come one at a time.

I'm a fan.

11-5.. possibly 10-6. either way i think u make playoffs as wildcard.

edit: only tough games left on schedule are giants, eagles, ravens. steelgirls are a joke we ran thru them minus alot of players including westy. i figure you'd drop two of the three "tough" games then i figured in one more "hiccup" like the rams game. the key 2your and everyones season 4that matter is health..

I say worst we do is 11-5...

We are a good team that has the potential to be great... We can win them all, we could also lose half of them...

Too many people are scared of the steelers... we can win that game at home...

we can...
The Steelers DO NOT LOSE on MNF!!! They are like 102-1-1 on MNF if they have a 11 point lead at halftime.

14-2 no doubt!!!

The Steelers, Ravens, Giants, Cowboys, Eagles, and even the Seahawks games all scare me. Not to take all the fun out of this thread, but one game at a time. 6-2 would be a real treat at the halfway point.

I'm taking it one game at a time. I don't want to look ahead.

I'm just concentrating on 6-2.

Agreed. For us fans, I think that looking ahead is harmless and fun, but I don't feel it's practical. Any given Sunday is really the mantra of this league.

Gotta beat the Lions. Have to get to 6-2.

For sure wins:
10/26 @ Lions
11/23 @ Seahawks
12/14 @ Bengals
12/28 @ 49ers
I'll say 4 "W"s here

should win
12/7 @ Ravens
11/16 Cowboys
1 "W" out of this group

Either way
11/3 Steelers
11/30 Giants
12/21 Eagles
1 "W" out of this group

So I'll say 6 "W"s. That will make us 11-5. Very realistic.

If we continue to play the way we currently are for the rest of the season...

Optimistic: 11-5
Realistic: 10-6

If we fall apart like we usually do mid-season, only to have a good run at the end, 9-7.

Yeah cuz ya know....10 wins is simple these days.

Ya know...10-11 wins is nothing to us skin fans...We have had it so easy for a decade or so...

I think we have 11 wins in us....I will think we had fallen apart if we don't win another this year.

I picked the Redskins to be 6-10 the day they hired Jim Zorn as the head coach, and I will stick by that. I hope it is a lot better though ;-) . :lionsuck:

So...we go 1-8 the rest of the year ??

The way I see it, we should beat the Lions, Seahawks, Bungals and 49ers..That should put us at 9-2 based on our current standings.

The tough games are Steelers, Cowboys, Eagles, Giants and Ravens. We normally split our division foes so lets say we end up 1-2 from that based our our history against Division foes. Thats 10-4 right there. If we split Eagles and Steelers we end up 11-5...Basically we can go 2-3 against our 5 toughest games and still amkes the playoffs..

Now taht means we go 4-0 against our weakest 4 games but in the league guys anything can happen so lets just take it 1 game at a time.

I believe we can an 11-5 record and a playoff chance. I'm not going to give out predictions on the playoffs but I will say hands down .. Jim Zorn is the NFL coach of the year.

Being an ass doesn't help your point.

I'm just thinking that optimistic would be around 13-3, 12-4 while realistic would be that 10-6 you talked about.

A collapse, to me, would be 7-9.

I guess we have different definitions of "optimistic."

Falling apart...only to have a late-season surge, like always.

I was being a little sarcastic with that. Playing on how 2 out of the last 3 seasons have shown us starting out great, but digging ourselves into an absurdly huge hole, only to dig ourselves out in time for the playoffs. I don't really think that's going to happen again this season, especially when you consider that we haven't started off 5-2 since 1999. Realistically, we're on track for a 10-6 season, perhaps better if we avoid injuries.

Is it fair to just say that 90% of Skins fans would agree that making the playoffs means the year is a success, while missing out will make it a disappointment (given that we started 5-2)?

Totally agree re: Zorn for coach of the year. Although if the Rams keep this up...

I really truly see this year as different from any in the last decade or so.

I buy into JZ and we have very real talent.

Sarcasm noted...

Alot of teams have a hard time keeping up the emotion for 16 games...

I see this team winning 2 Playoff games...now...Which 2 will it be !!!
