A day after the Redskins set the team record (http://www.redskins.com/gen/articles/Campbell__Redskins_Set_NFL_Interception_Record_256 55.jsp) for consecutive attempts without an interception, dating back to Collins' run at the end of last year, it's time to take a look at Jason Campbell.
Bernie Kosar holds the individual record (http://www.hickoksports.com/history/nflstreaks.shtml#cpnoint) with 308 straight attempts without an interception. Bart Starr is second with 294, and Jeff George (lol) is third with 279. Through the 2008 season, Jason has thrown 202 attempts without an interception. Before his injury in 2007, he threw 26 attempts without an INT. (10 in Bills game after throwing an INT, and 16 in Bears game before going down. That puts him at 228 straight attempts without and INT, 81 away from breaking the record.
I don't know where Jason currently sits, can't find it anywhere, but what he has done so far has exceeded my expectations big time.
Despite the extreme hatred I have in my heart for the Cowboys, Jason is reminding me of a Cowboys great: Troy Aikman. Aikman was rarely one for the 300 yard games or the 4-5 touchdown games. But, he consistently took care of the ball, threw in the ball park of 200 yards, and let his workhorse Emmitt Smith tear defenses apart.
Sound familiar?
Big time kudos to Jason and CP thus far. They are executing well and winning us games, despite the heart attacks that seem to loom around the corner each week.
Oh, and I knocked on wood before, during, and after the creation of this thread. If he throws a pick next week, it isn't my fault!!!
Good luck JC we believe in you!

Yeah, it's fun to watch and keep track and him throwing zero picks is definitely part of the reason we are 5-2

Wow...that's a pretty impressive record!! It will be tough for him to go another 107 attempts (in my opinion).
I also think it's important to point out that our team record is obviously just a regular season record (since Collins was picked 2x vs. Seattle in the playoffs last year).

I really don't know how any Skins fan can't be pleased with how Jason is performing this year. He won't light up the scoreboard, but he takes care of the ball and makes a big play when you need him to. 7 TDs, 0 INTs, and a 63% completion rate? I will take that any day of the week, especially at this point in the season.
Here's to JC getting the record.

He's actually 84 pass attempts away from tying the record.

being a fan of this team for a long time, I bet his first will come in the lions game. Stuff usually happens in these "Easy" games that the redskins should win. I'd like him to go for the record but maybe its better he gets an Int, so he doesn't have to think about it anymore.

begin a little debbie downer aren't we? :silly:
sure, it isn't as important as a superbowl ring, but it would be a damn fine record to have, and you know you would be proud to say that campbell has it.

It means he's not throwing interceptions...which most people would consider to be a good thing. Unless you like it when your QB throws interceptions.

Yea. I thought it was pretty self-explanatory.

Are they counting his attempts in the Buffalo and Chicago games last year? Because I don't recall him throwing a pick since the TB game.

The streak goes back to last year though. He has 202 attempts this year, but we need to add more from last year.

He will throw a pick eventually. As long as he knows and accepts that, he will continue to be mistake free. As soon as he starts thinking of the record, then the pick will come.

i think we have seen fewer deep shots because our greatest weapon on offense is CP, and zorn is feeding him the ball.
jason has taken the role of a game managing quarterback and excelled in it. ~64% completions, no INT's, and has the ability to stretch the field and win with his arm if necessary.

cardinals wasn't it? or saints? can't remember. those don't count in the stats though.

The Fox crew was doing their best to jinx Jason with the "no picks" notation before every obvious passing down yesterday.
He has been good with choosing when and where to throw, and also a little blessed with no balls bouncing off reciever's hands and chests only to flutter to a DB.
Lets hop it continues.

It means Jason Campbell is playing smart football.

And holding that record means what???
Well, I’m not an expert but I’ll try my best to explain it.
It basically means that JC hasn’t thrown any INT’s this year and that is good. See, INT’s (when you throw the ball to the defense and they catch it) are bad. So what Jason is doing with this streak is, well hell – good! The less INT’s you throw the better, and he hasn’t thrown any. I’m not Alfred Einstein but again, that means this whole streak is …go figure, GOOD!
I hope I’m not coming off as a smart arse, I’m just trying to break this down.

Is anyone extremely uncomforted by that?

Lions will get a pick. Book it.
It'll be from Todd Collins after Campbell is taken out in the middle of the first quarter cause we're already winning 100000 to 0.

WOW...didn't realize that Campbell has gone this long with giving up an INT...
Hopefully it never ends....and if it does, hopefully it's in a meaningless situation.

ok guys and gals its pretty simple, heres the #s
the record is 308 Campbell has thrown 202 this season and 26 last year before he got injured so here we go
202 + 26 = 228 consecutive attempts
so 308 - 228 = 80
so he needs 80 to tie and 81 to break the record

So, if I've done this correctly...
Jason had 228, plus 28 this week gives him 256 consecutive attempts without a pick. That's 52 off the record, 53 to break it. He could have this in two more games if he keeps playing smart....

cool stuff... only in a west coast offense, where a passing play can be 2-3 yards.

Well.. I gotta say, that campbell has quite a few medium range and long passes as well...
Its not all Mark Brunnell back there...

I don't believe in superstition. I only believe in skill set and ability. Jason isn't lucky for having this stat, he's accurate and intelligent for having this stat. Is Portis lucky for being the NFL's lead rusher? Hell no...that dude is just a beast ass running back. So knock on the magical wood if you feel it necessary...but it's not written in the stars when JC gets picked off. Believe in your team without regard to superstition. However, i do believe the reporter from last night was UNlucky after rolling his eyes at Zornado cuz he was about to get his ass whooped! haha.

yep, you're right.
how sweet would it be if he broke it in the second game...against none other than our hated Dallas Cowboys.
hail!
