My wife is hardcore into Halloween so she buys the full-sized candy bars for the kids. I'll admit it's fun watching a little kids eyes light up when they see the candy bar. But then later in the evening teenagers come to my door and I find that annoying. I can see why a teenager would want to dress up and throw eggs at each other but asking for candy?
My mom's rule was 12 years old. That sound about right to me too.

I never got the memo that we were supposed to stop. Am I past the age threshold? Please advise.

How can you tell? :silly:
Getting back to the subject, I remember trick-or-treating in our dorms when I was in college, so even then it doesn't quite end.

NEVER!!!
As an adult, you dress up in a really scary costume, hide behind bushes, scare the kids that are doing all the footwork for you, and then take their candy as they're running away screaming and crying.
Mwahahahahahaha.

I think 10 is fine. 11 pushes the envelope.
And if you show up without a costume, Im going to soak you with my super soaker.

I think I was about 12, when I stopped, after that it was hanging out with friends eating candy out of the bowl at the house.
Anymore we don't do the door to door thing, typically we're at the church for a "Harvest Party", but here in our town there is a community trick or treat at the county garage where lots of business owners gather with tables and hand out candy to the kids, I think last year there were 50 or 60 tables set up. We are setting up a "trunk or treat" in the church parking lot this year as well.

As soon as you have to ask if your kid is too old to go, they are.
Do kids even go trick or treating anymore though?? I thought they just went to malls and other controlled environments now.
Anyway, as soon as you're too old to trick or treat, you should be moving on to Halloween parties.

seriously, about the time you start growing facial hair is when you should stop. unless you're with a group of friends and drunk, then its ok ;)

We've been doing essentially the same thing in our neck of the woods. Trunk or treat is a nice, one stop way of getting the costumes, friends/neighbors, and candy all rolled up in a nice, safe environment.

If they don't say "trick are treat" because they are trying to be cool -Too old
If their costume is suppose to be a sexy ANYTHING - too old
If they are taller then me - Too old
I have flat out told kids that they are too old in the past, and have refused to give out Candy.

I couldn't turn down a honey (of age of course) in a sexy costume. I'll be her trick if she'll be my treat. ;)
