You are on the way home...... and you call your wife.... and she tells you that her sister is over.... so would you bring home a dessert.
Would 2 big bags of potato chips qualify?
SC_RedskinsFan
October-24th-2008, 09:11 PM
No chips do not qualify, unless they are chocolate. They are a snack, or a side item.

Any chance there's a pic when you showed her the dessert?? The look on her face was probably priceless.
Having done things similarly stupid myself, did you get the this is a joke right look?? lol
If she will, let her post her reaction on here. That would be classic.

Chips only serve to supplement a main course or work as a snack between meals. It is not a dessert.

Well.... so much for winning this poll... and having her start a poll amongst her peers for balance.
You guys suck :)
At least there are 2 other schmucks that live in my "universe". No, I didn't get any that night.
The truth is..... I was coming home from a friend's house with the 2 bags of chips already in the car.... I just didn't want to stop somewhere and get something. I thought the chips might pass.... and I come out looking like the hero.
Lazy bastage I am. Ah well.... thanks for nothing.

My wife agreed that fruit may have qualified. So I asked her if I brought home 2 pears would she have been happy. Made her think.... then of course admitted it wouldn't have worked.
She did say ICE CREAM would have qualified.... or Joe Louis cakes.... and to me.... those are "snacks" equal to chips (at least the Joe Louis cakes).

So dessert is officially "ice cream" or "chocolate? Is that the final answer? Who the hell decided that? :)

That may qualify as well.... and it'll be available in a convenience store.
Truth be told.... we already had a few bags of chips in the house - which we don't usually have - and she had been snacking on them all week. So I just think she was kinda "chipped-out" and wanted something else. Now, I did bring home 2 different kinds of flavors :)
But typically women... never really clear on their intentions... they just expect us to read their minds instead of just telling us what their needs are! :)
Hey... if you want chocolate... ask for chocolate. Dessert is an open-ended suggestion. And ice cream doesn't qualify when you're trip home is 30-minutes... it would have melted in the car :)

yes, it is. there are a lot of options when it comes to dessert. it's not just chocolate or ice cream. there's cake, there's pudding, there's pie, there's cream horns .....
it is very open ended. how you thought chips qualified, and still seem to be trying to justify it, is beyond me. lol

LMAO, I wish you were kidding. I know women and the expect you to read their mind thing but man, this one shoulda been obvious. It had nothing to do with being "chipped out". Ice cream, cake, pie....those are desserts. Almost universally a dessert is going to be something that has the exclusive value of satisfying a sweet tooth without any other attributes worth speaking of. I mean, bringing her chips for dessert, to me, is about the equivalent of having stopped at McDonalds and picking her up an order of fries. They have McFlurries for a reason. :silly:

If you want ice cream, cake or pie... then you ask for it. A dessert is an open-ended request for junk food for snacking on because they're plunked in front of the TV and want something to stuff their faces.
How do I know this? Because they do it every weekend. And you know what's included in their "binges"? Chips. At least 2 bags.... different kinds every week.
If you want cake... ask for cake. But you can't say "surprise me" and then get pissed when you don't get what you want.

Come on. I'm talking about everything in this thread. How's that for "common sense"?
Basically, everybody has said EVERYTHING in this thread has qualified as a "dessert"... with the exception of chips.
Pie, ice cream, cake, fruits, cookies, pastries, chocolate bars, candies, etc... and with the exception of fruit... all can be found at most gas station convenience stores. Including chips.
And EVERYTHING in that store seems to qualify except the one item. That's strange.

I told you.... McFlurries weren't an option because I was 30 minutes away from home. It would have melted :)
The ONLY place along the way home -- I live in country and take back roads -- was a Wendy's. And all they have for "dessert" is that chocolate ice cream crap. Not an option.
Everything else was outta the way.... and I already had 2 bags of chips in the car :) So screw it.... I thought it was good enough :)
