VICTORY!!!
Redskins 20 - Seahawks 17
:helmet:
Greetings everybody and welcome to Qwest Field in Seattle Washington where today the Washington Redskins will face the Seattle Seahawks. My name is JimmiJo and I am privileged and honored to by be joined by the leader of the pack, Art Mills.
I don't want to talk out of school, but word is Art consumed an egg omelete yesterday the size the spare tire in my Kia. He looks ok today, but is moving kinda slow.
So it is a beautiful morning here in Seattle. I arrived last night but the team has been here since Friday, presumably to acclimate to the time change. Me I am still on D.C. time, meaning I was up at the crack because it was already mid-morning for me.
As I said in my in-flight blog I expect a win today. Let me elaborate and say I expect better run AND pass production. I do not believe Seattle can pressure like the teams the Redskins have been facing. Still, the Redskins don't score a lot and this could be a problem.
Stand by for all the information we can get you...
11:20AM
I telling you right now this is a very nice stadium. You can always tell by the quality of handsoap and paper towels in the restroom. I can report that it is a very nice purple soap, good texture and thickness, rinses easy. The towels are next-level, thick pulp, meaning you only need two.
The food is nice too; egg-omeletes (couldn't get Art to eat any for some reason), beef brisket, salads, and some more stuff.
The press box is laid out well, running the length of the field. Art and I are in the front row, of course.
The stadium is situated right downtown, the way I like it and there are a few Redskins fans walking around.
All-in-all a nice place to visit.

Well that was just what the doctor ordered.
Last night after I arrived, Art texted me to come meet the gang at a bar close to the hotel. As I was still sitting down and saying my hellos, my game prediction was demanded by all present. I dont want to call out anyone (Art), but someone had the Skins scoring 38. I think the Redskins win, probably 21-17 or something like that, I said.
Thank you, thank you.
The Redskins came into Qwest Field in Seattle and outplayed the Seahawks in every area across the board excepting kickoff returns. They dominated key areas of the game and did just enough scoring to get the win against a determined opponent.
In doing so the team returned to the form we were seeing in the early part of the season, move the ball well, especially on the ground, score enough to get ahead, and then let the defense keep the lid on it.
There were many things to be impressed with:
Clinton Portis and his 143 yards rushing on 29 carries for a 4.9 yard average
Jason Campbell going 20 for 33 for 206 yards, 1 TD, and a 88.7 QB rating
The Redskins out-gained the Seahawks 386 yards to 228
The Redskins rushed for 187 yards compared to 139 for the Seahawks
The Redskins passed for 199 yards compared to 89 for the Seahawks
Washington ran 76 offensive plays compared to 46 for Seattle
The 47% 3rd down efficiency for Washington compared to 30% for Seattle
The lopsided time-of-possession, 38:27 for Washington compared to 21:33 for Seattle
Washington won the turnover battle, picking Hasselbeck twice while Ladell Betts fumbled once at the end of the game
You have to give the defense a lot of credit. They took away the Seattle passing attack. To limit the Seahawks to just 89 passing is impressive. However, the Redskins surrendered too many yards on the ground, and they all knew it, especially the defensive line. If you listen to the audio you will hear Cornelius Griffin bring it up.
Speaking of the defensive line, it was looking pretty grim as player after player limped off the field. Griffin, Andre Carter, and Kedric Golston all limped or were helped off the field. I did not hear the update from Zorn following the game, but to my eyes, Golston looked the worst of the lot, having to hop on one foot to the shower following the game.
Other injuries prompt concern with Clinton Portis being the most obvious, coming out with a hip injury at the end of the game. He bent over on the sideline, grimacing in obvious pain.
Heres hoping they get some fast healing.
Now it is time for game balls:
Clinton Portis and the entire offensive line The drive at the end of the game up until the Betts fumble was a thing of beauty and as good as Ive seen them have this year.
The secondary with special mention of LaRon Landry and Shawn Springs. Landry on seems to intercept only Hasselbeck and todays makes three in two games.
This was a game the Redskins had to win. With the Giants coming to town next week, the team needed something to build on. And with Dallas and others winning today, this keeps the Redskins right in the hunt at 7-4 on the year.
Some may argue that in the end they beat a 2-8 team and this would be true. However, I can tell you that the Seahawks wanted this one and with the ridicules crowd-noise, this was a tough venue. Still the Redskins did what they had to do. They controlled the tempo of clock, and came out with a win.
I will take that all day long.
