Sellers is a beast and he plays a large role in our running game and I'm not sure how many physical specimens there are in the league like him (linebacker/lineman fullback) but if not, his replacement should be Peyton Hillis!!!!
Hillis is 6-2 250 pounds and has scored a few times this year on limited touches, both on receptions and rushing. Heck, this week he had 74 yards rushing and a touchdown, and a few weeks ago he had 143 yards receiving and 2 tds. He was also the blocker for Darren McFadden and Felix Jones in college, and led Arkansas in receiving as a fullback his senior year, and tossed a few tds as well. I assume he's a good blocker Don't get me wrong I love Sellers, but I'm just pointing out that he's 33 and although he looked great tonight, he won't be around forever.
From Rotoworld -"Broncos RB/FB Peyton Hillis is drawing comparisons to former Bucs All-Pro Mike Alstott.
Michael Pittman, a former teammate of Alstott's, says Hillis is actually a little faster and has 'some of the best hands I've ever seen.'"

8 years? Sellers is good, but not that good. He'll have some big shoes to fill, no doubt.

Why would Denver get rid of Hillis? Whenever Sellers decides to retire then we are going to have to draft his replacement. I don't think Broughton will be his replacement, and I don't see Denver cutting Hillis anytime soon.

Clinton Portis is gonna retire at some point. Should we look for his replacement? Let's no get ahead of ourselves, I wouldn't be surprised if Sellers played another 3-4 years.

I hope so, and we probably should draft Sellers' replacement, I guess I just got caught up in my fantasies of having my favorite Razorback on my favorite team

Isnt every player gonna retire at some point? We will miss Mike but he still has a few good years in front of him so lets not sweat it right now.

I'm not comparing him to ST, but #45 is in that same group of players that seem to be 'irreplaceable' - guys who are unmatched physical specimens, willing to lay their body on the line for the good of the team and just live to hit people. Its gonna be awful tough to find a guy with his size and intensity that instill the same fear in opponents who see Big Mike bearing down on them for a lead block.

Dude I know he was drafted by the Broncos, if you read the post, it would be clear. It just seems like they like to keep cycling their running backs (Reuben Droughns, Mike Anderson, Tatum Bell) So we may have a shot at him when his contract expires. Or we could just draft someone I guess...

Sellers isn't going anywhere in the next couple of years. Fullbacks can play well into their 30's and since the WCO relies on a FB like Sellers, he'll be here if I had to guess. I'd at least give him until 2010. This is just my opinion of course and I'd also factor in the fact that he may be a Pro Bowler this year and certainly will want to return next year with Portis. I think that next year the Skins will make a big run at the Bowl and Sellers will have a lot to do with that run. I hope that it's this year, but realistically I think that we need him for the future and he'll be a part of this team for that reason. :2cents:

Sellers' replacement?
NNNNNEEEEEEEEEEEEMMMMMMOOOOOOOOO!!!!!
My mancrush may or may not be clouding my judgement. But Gibbs & Co was always really high on the guy, and I really think the only reason he's not on the active roster is because Sellers is such a damn monster and we've got some really talented special teams players right now that are also starters.

That will be a sad day when he has to hang em up for sure. I know he's getting up in age as far as football goes. A friend of mine went to high school with him up in Washington.

My view on the fullback position.
Somewhere in Division II football is a big slow running back who doesn't want to manage a Target when he graduates. He would probably be more than happy to run into Ray Lewis 35 times a day for $300,000 a year.
Find that dude.

theres that. and when the OP brings up that hillis had 74 yards and a td yesterday, and the 100+ yards receiving the other week...thats cuz of all the injuries denver has at RB, the reason hes getting all the yardage is cuz hes been switched from FB to TB after they lost hall, torain, and the other RB on IR, then young has been gimpy so hes been sitting. hillis was the only RB they had.

Uhh, yes they need to think about that. Every week folks write on this board about how he has lost a step etc. Looking at some of the top backs from 5 years ago, heck 3 years ago. Shaun Alexander, E. James, etc. They have been put out to pasture. How many more good grinding years will CP have? 3, 4 maybe?

Cooley should be Sellers replacement, and then we can move Davis in at TE...Cooley can still catch a lot of passes and will always be covered by a LB which is a serious mismatch...

luckily for us, Sellers delays aging by drinking the blood of young prima donna linebackers and safetys
i think he should stop hitting CB's - he is too merciful for that
what a tremendous beast who deserves nearly as much credit as Portis for several good years of running the football.
on tv and in articles it is said so often that 'the OL deserves much of the credit for a RB's success' to the point where at times (not all the time, but at times) the OL might even get TOO MUCH credit for a RB just being a hell of a player.
my point is this, though: why are fullbacks still unknown except to hardcore fans of the NFL and casual fans of their specific team?
i am just as guilty as anyone - i watch as muuch nfl football as i possibly can, and i probably cant name many more than 10 starting fullbacks.

Hillis went to my High School in Arkansas... I was really hoping we'd draft him in the 7th round... But once I saw Horton on the field, I'm glad we passed over him...

What prevents a scrub OL from being used as a FB, especially a mobile one? We've got all these teams trying to convert DT's into FB's or using RB's as FB's or whatever... How about we put Heyer at FB, haha.

I was just going to mention him... Seattle doesn't use him, he's a physical genetic mutation like Sellers, he head butts his own helmet for giggles, and the West Virginia fans would be ecstatic if the Skins acquired him.
