I did not see any thread like this yet, I was actually trying to revive the original thread when Sean was shot last year and I actually posted in but I could not find it. I just wanted to say Sean I miss you and wish you were still here. Happy Holidays to all of Extremeskins and to Sean's family, I know it will be hard but our thought and prayers are with you. I was with my family in Disney World when the news broke. When the news broke about a NFL player was shot in his home, I thought now what happened to a player. Then the caption displayed ST's name. I became numb. I will never forget that feeling.

In some ways, it seem like this happened yesterday, and in other ways, it seems that Sean's been gone for so much longer than a year. I don't want to repeat what I've said in other threads, so I'll just say here that you'll never be forgotten, Sean. Of course your family will keep your memories alive through the generations. Redskin fans also will help keep your memory alive -- not just the incredible football player that you were, but the incredible person that you were. RIP, Sean.

I remember going to sleep hearing that he was showing positive signs and then woke up the next morning only to find out that he passed to a greater place. Football was the last thought in my mind as I just hoped he would live to be the Dad that his daughter and wife needed for years to come, although the man upstairs had other plans for him.
RIP 21 you are missed
IONTOP
November-27th-2008, 07:27 AM
I remember saying...
"I hope he's not out for the year."
Which turned to
"I hope he can come back and play football"
Then
"I hope he can still walk"
Then
"I hope he can still have enough brain function to interact with his daughter"
Then
"I hope he puts the smackdown in the greatest pro bowl in the history of the world"
I've never forgotten him, when I run into problems in my life, whether it be work or personal...
"I'm nervous that this girl will shoot me down if I go talk to her"
"Screw that, I might not be here tomorrow, I'm not going to have any more 'what ifs'"
It sounds petty but Sean's death has made me a better person... I'd still rather NOT had it happen, but you can't change the past, only live every day like it's your last...
Sean, If you're reading this, just know that you've made at least one person SUCH a better man... I've stopped drinking for 21 days to remember you...

I still remember waking up feeling like I was going to throw up when I heard he passed because I went to bed thinking he was going to make it once I heard he squeezed the nurses hand.
In all of the years of me being a Skins fan I never had a "favorite player" until he came along.

"I was able to watch Sean Taylor come in as this cocky, totally withdrawn person and develop into one of the kindest, most gentle human beings that I’ve ever been around ... He was one of these guys that if you needed something, if you needed a friend, he was a great friend. He was going to be there for you. That’s rare among people in general and it’s rare among guys with his talent. He was very unique.” - Greg Blache
Thanks Greg for those thoughts and thanks B&G for having that in your sig.
God Bless the Taylor family, the Redskins family and may we all be thankful this day-all days for that matter, having Sean Taylor for the short time we did.

Rest in Peace Sean Taylor,
Well I never cried for someone I didnt know personally, Sean was my favorite player ever since he arrived the team, he had such passion for the game that is hard to see in someone, When i heard he was shot i couldn't believe it i was trying to find something about his health every 5 minutes on the internet and I was optimistic when i heard he responded a little, then next morning he was gone, Also I couldnt hold my tears, I have no much friends in mexico than watch or like football but a lot of them called me trying to give me the news about Sean that day, as they knew he was my favorite player and always wearing his jersey on Sundays I still Do and he always be remembered in my heart.
We will never forgive you Sean.

Truly amazing how much his death impacted all of us. The guy was only on the team a few years, and was so careful to give interviews or let most of the public into his life, but losing him literally felt like losing a friend.
I think a lot of it had to do with us watching him mature and dealing with his growing pains, from his initial rookie recklessness and penalties, to his infamous spitting incident in the Tampa playoff game, to his last season where it seemed everything clicked and he was playing at an All Pro level. Combined with the birth of his daughter and the way teammates and opponents began to talk about him, he really grew up in front of our eyes.
Personally, it would be easier for me to deal with if he had died in some accidental way like a car accident or something, but for his life to end at the hands of other people in such a senseless manner is really the toughest pill to swallow. Just no reason at all for such a thing to occur ever.
Not a day goes by that I don't think of Sean.

I remember putting aside my English homework last year as I sat in my dorm, glued to my laptop, watching and praying for a positive update about Sean Taylor. I went to bed, thinking he'd make it, and woke up to the horrible news. I will never forget that feeling - how much an athlete can affect a fan's life. Thank you Sean for what you did for this team, this town, and these fans. No on else could have brought us together like that. One year later, my thoughts and prayers are with your family and friends. God bless.

I have been a Skins fan for over 25 years but I never bought a jersey until a couple of years ago when I bought a Sean Taylor jersey. There was just something so special and unique about him. I had to have his jersey! I know I sound like a little kid saying that but I think Sean was a very special individual.
I think about his family often and hope and pray that they are doing well. R.I.P. #21.

There will never be a better safety than Sean Taylor and his presence is surely missed. He still had many years to go and would go down as one of the greatest players. It's about time he is inducted into the ring of honor and with the giants in town this should pump our redskins up and go out there and win for him. I think most people got the idea of my thread, it wasnt to sit here and state the complete obvious, it was just 3:25am and I did not see anyone start a thread about how this is the actual day Sean died, and it was probably within an hour or so when he actually was pronounced dead.
Not that I feel I need to defend myself from this guy but I can understand why someone might make a comment about my thread title, I could have done a little better. But oh well this was all about ST anyways. R.I.P. # 21 I hope we get a W for you this weekend over the Giants. We sure could use you!
