A follow up to the "Who is Your Hero?" thread from a few weeks ago.

Come on... there's somebody out there that thinks you're the tops. Who is it and why? It's alirght to brag here 'cause I asked.

My dogs, of course, cuz they're, well, MY dogs.
And my nieces.

I'm the cool uncle who is more like a big kid and makes them laugh, but listens to them at the same time.

I'm actually my own hero. In my mind, everything I do is pure gold.

My 1-year old son, and my group/team at work. I can pretty much fix any problem anybody has with anything. Too bad I hate them all.

nice first post

I would say its my little cousin Catherine. She is 9 years old, a very bright girl already in GT, but very socially awkward. I think she says a lot of things that kids her age don't get and it frustrates her. But, I see her during the holidays and she won't stop talking to me and telling me things. She is adorable and I take pride in the relationship I have with her even if it just means putting her on my back and walking around the house...she loves it.

I'm a hero to all people everywhere.

To my siblings, and family with reason.

To my friends, usually without reason.

I just do the right thing regardless of my attitude or position on things.

I'm no one's hero. I hope I never am someone's hero because I'll end up really, really letting them down.

I am the "fun aunt" though: I always send them fun stuff and candy every holiday, play Wii with them, run around outside with them whenever I get to visit home, take them snowmobiling, skiing, jetskiing, etc...all the fun stuff! I love this role.

I can't wait to start having my own kids soon however, I'm ready for that role. It's my one shot to have someone see me as their hero...well, at least for the first couple years of their life...:D

Lol, okay, that's funny.

I would have to say my younger cousin. She is an only child and looks at me as her big brother.

Actually, I am my little brothers hero's. They are 7 and 6. When I moved out, it was heartbreaking. They call me every weekend for a "sleep over" In their eyes, whatever I do is the best and I can do no wrong. It actually saddens me because if they actually knew me for who I am, they would not have the same opinion. :(:(

There are several people who have told me I am their hero. Some of the best were actual heroes, like some of the wounded I volunteered for and served at Walter Reed and Bethesda Medical. I remember, one guy coming in and lying in his hospital bed, he was in tremendous pain and had just lost an arm and the only thing he was worried about was that he couldn't go out and get his kid a present and that she would think that he didn't love her. Well, after I finished dropping off the supplies and talking to folks that night, I made an extra trip to ToyRUs and got him something to give.

In truth, his coming back was the greatest gift, but it just touched me deeply.

Three years later and he still sends me Christmas cards. There are a few others who've called me hero, whose life I actually saved (from drowning, drug abuse, etc.) but that one touched me most because it imprinted on my mind the power of the smallest gesture.
