OK, MIKE H! Your in. If you are not we'll feed you to the fishes.

OK guys, we have our crew. To anyone that wanted to go and didn't get in in time, I'm sorry. I can only take six people. We'll do this again real soon so don't worry. I plan on two trips a year for ES members. The rest will have to pay full charter prices. This isn't North Carolina so if your going to go fishing this summer on the outer banks please check with me first as to who you are going to book at Oregon Inlet or Pirates Cove. There are a lot of charter boats there but some of them I wouldn't go on.

OK folks, I'm glad to see so much enthusiasm to go fishing. I hope this might help my business in the long run. This might be a good way to advertise.

If anyone has a tendency to get sea sick, don't worry. Just don't bring those stupid wrist bands with the buttons on them. That is the biggest crock and probably invented by the guy who invented the voodoo doll. Forget about Dramamine. It'll only knock you out. You won't be sea sick if your sedated. So if you call that working I guess it does. You can go to the pharmacy and ask the guy for those little patches that go behind your ear. Follow the directions and do NOT over do what is recomended. If one is good than two have to be better. No no. That doesn't work. You'll be loooooopy.

I guess we're planning a Sunday trip. If you guys want to meet on Saturday at the boat we could have dinner at the marina and get you into your rooms. Then you can check out the boats and help with the rigging of the baits and teasers. I'd like to get you all involved to really appreciate what is going on. Most of you have probably been out of Oregon Inlet and you know you show up and wind in the fish. Not here, I'll have you washing the boat when we're done.

We will need some people who can be on will call if someone can't make it. It's a free trip so that usually doesn't happen.

I'll check with the hotels closest to the marina and reserve 3 rooms.

On the boat rules: Do NOT puke inside. Always leave your fish in the water until the first mate can pull it in. I don't want to look down there and see a wahoo tearing into a persons leg. A big dolphin on the deck can cause big injuries. Never run out of beer! Rum is a must. When it comes to food, use common sense. Making a plate of food is not good. Sammiches and finger foods are always easy. If there is a girl, clothing is optional. Your allowed on the bridge anytime, but don't start pushing buttons and fiddling with my electronics. I've seen it a million times. Tennis shoes or soft soled shoes. No clod hoppers or steel toed boots. Ummm, that's about it. Did I mention the booze? OH, no drugs. If you get caught with weed or anything we all go to jail and the cops get a new boat. "Don't risk it."

While this is a free trip we do need to come up with money to tip the mate. It's only right. He'll be working his *** off to make it an unforgetable day. Splitbill (Mark) will be our mate for the day. He's actually a well known captain, but is a member of this board and a huge skins fan. He's as excited as I am to meet fellow members and share what we do with you all.

Capt Rich and I are putting together the 1st Annual ES Offshore Fishing Trip (more Capt Rich than me :silly:). 6 people from ES can attend. I am going so we will need 5 other people who want to go, and maybe one other person in case we have someone who can not attend.

Capt Rich's marina is in Fort Pierce Fl

We will be fishing on Saturday January 17. The boat will be leaving the dock at 6:30 am.

WE WILL BE FISHING IN FL!!

The only cost will be for you lunch, hotel rooms, and booze. Capt Rich says they will cover the fuel on the 48 FOOT FISHING MACHINE.

I will keep this first page updated with any information we may need.

The owner is giving me the boat for the weekend and I can take up to six people. The rules are they all must ne folks from Extremeskins. We can start an anual offshore fishing trip and if you have never been offshore you have a blast. Especially getting a break for a weekend from the freezing temperatures. How does the middle to the third weekend in January sound? My marina is about 2 minutes from I 95 and the drive, even from MD is nothing. If a bunch of you guys carpool down you'd have a blast. Lets do this. The sailfish are chewing along with wads of mahi mahi.

Only thing is that I don't have a car yet and don't know if I'll have one by then.

But if I have to fly, I will.

The fishing trip wont cost anything. We'll write it off. What we need to do is get everyone who wants to go to put it in the thread. We'll come up with a day in January that looks good for everyone and go from there. The rooms at the marina are nice and I get the hook up, so it wont cost much.

We could take alot of pics and put them on the site. It'll be fun. The fishing awesome right now all the way through the end of January.

No, the boat covers the licenses. You'll need gas for your car, like 20 bucks a night for the room, money for booze and chicken for the fishing trip. (can't go wrong with chicken) There is a Tiki bar and 2 restaurants right at the marina and rooms that are rockin that time of year and it's not freezing.

I'll get to the messages later. I'm triflin. I usually knock it down to 90% and coast along for a while.:D

Don't sweat it TJ, were never out of sight of land. Some people get weird when they lose sight of terra firma.:puke: The boat's name is "LO QUE SEA". It's spanish for "whatever" or "it is what it is". We call her the mighty DUCK, cause she rides like one. No matter how rough it gets she just paddles along like a duck, dry as a bone. She's one of the best stable fishing boats I've driven. If you click on that link you'll see the word fort pierce at the top. The f in fort is on the Lo Que Sea. That's the Duck.

For those that don't know.....a full day deep sea fishing trip in Fla usually costs about a grand to rent the boat.....plus tips.

There is nothing like it. You will never accept fishing in a lake again.

I will leave the spot open for anyone that is willing to travel a great distance Rich.

If not.....count me in. I freaking kill to deep sea fish.

Rich can correct me if I am wrong Mike......but most trolling trips I have been on.....you simply put 4-6 lines in the water......drink beer and relax.

Wait for the sound of something hitting the line......then it is fish on time.

Whoever's turn it is takes the seat....if it is a big fish.

Not super strenuous.....and if it is a gigantic fish, you can always let someone else get on.

Typically, the biggest marlin etc, like the warmer water....usually summer fishing.

But you will see some great sailfish with any luck.

You'll learn all kinds of things to take back to SC. Dredges......Teasers that have about 60 fresh mullet on them that look like a school of bait. The sail sees the school and approaches the bait ball and we feed him a ballyhoo with a circle hook on it. Let him eat it and WHAM! Tripples and quads are the funnest. Four to 5 sails jumping all ovewr at the same time is wicked cool. It's aloooooot of rigging though. I even have a life size fake sailfish I attach to the teaser. The theory is to get them jacked up to eat. If one sail in a pod goes on the feed it triggers the others with him to instinctivly do the same. You can tell when one is ready to kill he goes from normal sailfish, like you see with the colors, to jet black from head to toe. They can light up their tail to a bright blue. There brain will even light up to where you see him behind the bait and he's all black except for a white spot on his head. That's his brain flippin out. When they get tired they will light there sail to a bright blue and purple with black spots all over it. We'll deck a couple for up close pics and let everyone touch him before we release him.

Mad Mike, I appreciate that. The heart thing kinda scares me. We don't have a defribulator on the this boat. Most boats have them now, believe it or not. We're all CPR certified and I can keep someone alive long enough to get back to land, but I don't want to have to. I have a good buddy who had that happen. The man caught a marlin and right after, cardiac arrest. I'd love to take you in the future, when your feeling stronger. If you think your up to though.

That's why I say I wouldn't be fishing. And I wouldn't want to take that opportunity from someone else. :D

As for a boat ride, I take a bigger risk on my drives out into the country and walking in the woods alone. There is a point that living a normal life overrides small risks. As long as I'm not under great physical stress I'm fine. I know my limits.

Like I said, if there's a free slot I would love to play photographer, but if it worries you, I understand completely.

Not at all. I didn't know the level of your condition. When ever I hear heart it makes me think of that day in NC. Hey, the heart thing runs through my family as well. I know all too well. It kinda sounded at first like you just had stints put in.;) If your good we'll pencil you in. You can catch these fish with no problem. We use light tackle. While the sails are 6 to 7 feet long they are considered small, by our standards. The drag on the reels gives way at 5 to 6 pounds, so your never fighting any more the 6 pounds. The line we use is 20 lb test. We use the light takle to make it sporting for the fish. Heavy tackle is no contest. The poor things can't even jump with heavy tackle.

There's plenty to do. You won't just sit there. I'm going to make it a real hands on day and get everyone involved as much as possible. We will need your photography experience too. Should I move your name?

OK folks, I'm glad to see so much enthusiasm to go fishing. :applause: I hope this might help my business in the long run.

Not here, I'll have you washing the boat when we're done.:D

International waters is true. Actually the drinking thing on boats is very open. I can't do it while I have you on there, but you are allowed to chug away. Look at all the spring breakers down here in boats. The cops don't care that they are drinking if they are cool about it. They just don't want the guy driving to be drinking.

If there is any way of giving us an estimate of expenses for tips and such it would be appreciated. You couldn't believe the degree of sloppy it would take to surprise me.

One of my old bosses gave a trip away to his top salesmen and I loaded them on the boat and took them to Grand Bahama for the weekend. There is casinos, fishing and tons to do. The first night one of the guest comes falling into the boat, a 72 foot 4 million dollar boat mind you, with blood spirting out of his hand. Hammered drunk. He opened the door and said, "Rich I'm in trouble." "Damn right you are! You get a drop of blood on this carpet your a dead man." Blood all over the teak. I threw his drunk ass on the dock and looked at his hand. spirt-spirt-spirt! Blood flying. "wtF did you do?" He got a bottle of wine out of the drink box on the boat. No big deal. I always keep the drink box full of refreshments, beer, wine what have you. He couldn't get the cork out sohe decided to break the neck off the bottle by hitting it on the wall.:rotflmao: As I'm wrapping this idiots hand up I couldn't help but ask, "after you broke the neck off, what were you planning to do then? Just then a real doctor comes walking up and says he followed a blood trail to my boat. Is everything OK. **** no I said. This dumb ass has two fingers hanging by skin. The guy lost a finger later. One of them was saved. He then went down below into a stateroom and peed on a lower bunk. He then passed out in the hallway and puked on himself. Now remember, this aint no trawl boat. This is a big time private sport fisher. The whole trip was ruined. My boss never let another person on that boat he didn't know. Come to find out he was a recovering alcoholic who was also in gamblers annonymous. hahahaaaaaaaaaaaaa. Not the place for that guy. He lost something like 8 grand in the casino in two hours.

His dad is a rich dentist in Charleston and has a boat called JUNKANEWT. anyway Newt is not even 20 and has found himself fishing with he guys that are real professionals and much older than him. I've known the kid since he could walk. He was fishing in the Stuart Light Takle sailfish tournament this week. Yesterday was the alst day. He called me in a panic and begged for some numbers of secretr spots to catch sailfish. I gave him some sure fire numbers and 15 minutes later he called back, "We got one! we're tied for first, help!" I told them where to go. 5 minutes left till the end of the tournament and there was the winning fish. He glowing with pride. He won the top mate award and got his first professional win. :doh:There'll be no living with him after this.

Thanks but really I consider myself somewhere between an amateur and semi-pro. I think I have a good eye from my background as a graphic artist but I lack the technical skill and experience of a real pro.

As a graphic artist, I've seen some really great photographers work. More than enough to keep me humble. ;) One of the really cool things I took away from school though was hanging around with friends in the photography program and picking their brains.

I also got to meet one of the really great celebrity photographers and spend a good deal of time taking with him. The dude actually sat down with me in my photoshop class and talked shop with me. Super nice guy. By the name of Douglas Kirkland (www.douglaskirkland.com).

Check out some of his work...

If everyone gave him $30 a piece, that's cool. He's a skins fan and is looking to fish with you guys anyway so we don't have to give him his normal $400 tip for a day. (haaaaaaaaaaa! I'm just kidding. It's rare to get a $400 tip)

One quick tip story::D It was awesome. When I was a younger lad living in Nags Head and working on the charter boats we had a make-up charter one day. This is where if you are alone and want to go fishing, the marina office will place you with 5 other people who want to go fishing and you can split the cost. Anyway, ......We go out and crush the ocean of her tunas and everyone has a cooler of fresh tuna to take home. One of the guys, who by the time Mark was done cleaning the fish was hammered, asked my captain how much is a normal tip. He said $120 is normal for a tip. At the time (1993:nono:) it was. Well!!!!!When they all piled off the boat to get their fish each one of them gave me $120 each.:rotflmao:What a great day! They had been splitting the cost all day of every thing and I started partying with them the minute we pulled the lines in. That was my custom. To drink beer with my crew and get to know them. It has been a great time getting to know and drink with thousands of you.:applause::cheers:

The guy that caught JAWS? His name is Donnie Dalborah, of Montauk NY. He's a good friend of mine and lives in Wanheese, North Carolina and long lines for a living. He owns the world record for the largest fish ever caught on rod and reel. If you go into a Bass Pro Shop (at least down here) The full mount of his 25 foot great white is hanging from the ceiling to the floor. If somebody gets one mounted here they dont make it to the pawn shop. Yeah, I knew that billfish are a catch and release.:D

The $100 pawn shop special sounds good to me.

Hey, in todays economy, you wouldn't believe the beautiful mounts hanging up in pawn shops down here. Definately the way to go and you can take one home with you.

I just saw on Manswers that fishing is the number 1 most dangerous sport in America- more deaths per year than football, sky diving, and boxing combined. Why? Crashing into objects, drowning, and alcohol related incidents.

SO....y'all be careful out thurr, ya hear?

This may be a dumb question, and I didn't read the whole thread but... are you being serious when you say you are going to be fishing for dolphin?? Isn't that illegal?

Edit: so i just googled "fishing for dolphins" and some green looking dolphin fish came up....so I'm assuming that is what you are fishing for. phew!

Capt. Rich . . . .

I know this is a stupid question because you do this for a living and I'm sure are more than well outfitted; but, is there any need to bring extra gear? I've got three 50s (one wide) and one Shimano Tiagra 80W on Fenwick boat rods.

Is there any chance of getting into some Marlin?

I'm getting pretty excited about this. I did some trip planning and thought I would share. I took some snapshots from google maps to send to my iPhone for reference (you never know how the signal is going to be on the road :-) and uploaded the big pics to flickr so anyone can get them and print them.

The marina. (where exactly will we meet?)

Ft. Pierce from I95.

Orange Ave. Exit straight till the end and turn left.

Again. Big versions of the maps on my Flickr page...

Yeah when that last slot opened up, I was going to PM Pete but it got filled fast.

I'm going to post another map in a minute showing the hotel in relation to the Marina and 95. It's not super close but it should only be about 5 minutes away.
