GRAND RAPIDS -- Floyd Mayweather Jr. wants to fight again and has reached out to his father about returning in a training capacity after their estrangement for most of the last eight years, family members said Monday.
Janelle Mayweather, the boxer's cousin, told family members he called her early Sunday morning -- moments after Manny Pacquiao's stirring win over Oscar De La Hoya on Saturday night in Las Vegas -- and stated his hopes to fight again and reunite with his father.
"My niece said my son told her he wanted to fight Pacquiao next, and that he wants me to train him for the fight," Mayweather Sr. said.

Well, I had thought DLH's size and power would be too much for Pac - not knowing how slow and weak DLH had become.
Floyd vs Pac would be much more entertaining, no doubt. Probably would go the distance with Floyd winning on all cards. Too much speed and skill for Pac IMO.

of course he wants the fight now that he sees the money in it. Manny is a true fighter and I give him all the props in the world for fighting Oscar.

The only reason I don't believe the story is because it states that Floyd wants to re-unite with his father to train. He and his father don't get along at all.
Having said that I would like to see this fight. It would be a tough fight for Manny because of Floyd's speed but it would be a good fight.

That's a huge money fight right there and it's the logical fight for Floyd because Pacquiao is small. Floyd retired because he didn't want to fight the likes of Cotto and Margarito because the size and power advantage was way too much.

now this would be the "dream match" that they were calling Pac vs DLH...

Floyd is pretty small too, about 5-7 135.
I think Pacquiao is almost 5-7 and just fought at 147.
That size advantage thing is exactly what they were saying about the De La Hoya fight.

Yes. And dominated Oscar. It wasn't even fair. I don't know if you saw it, but it was almost like the Leonard vs. Duran fight of yesteryear. Oscar wasn't even throwing punches in the last 2 rounds.
I will see if I can find a video of it. EDIT: Looks like they took them all down.

I saw the fight and I knew he would beat Oscar. I actually saw one of the Manny/Morales fights live in Vegas and he was a beast. the guy just doesnt back down...

I completely disagree...Cotto? Footwork and hand speed too slow for Floyd...Margarito, good fight but I think Floyd would pop and move all night...kinda like Sugar Ray and Hagler, except the decision would be obvious to all....

If it happens, best fight in recent memory. 2 of the best pound for pound guys go at it, would be classic. mayweather better hurry up, Manny has said he will retire in the summer of '09, and if Hatton is being set up for the spring, that will only give Mayweather 1 chance in the summer to get this thing going.

Cotto is quicker than you think. Ask Sugar Shane Mosely.
I don't think Floyd will fight Margarito because he wouldn't make enough money for the risk. And there would be risk in fighting Margarito. He just comes forward and can wear a fighter down.
And a guy no one mentions is Paul Williams. I would love to see him fight Margarito again or Mayweather. He won the first 7 rounds against Margarito but managed to hang on when Margarito was closing in on him.

I think this matchup would be similar to the Mayweather-Hatton fight. Manny took care of DLH with ease but Oscar turned out to be finished as a fighter. Floyd's not finished.

I really want to see Hatton vs Pacquiao first and then Mayweather. Of course if Pacquiao loses then the big money match of Pac and Mayweather would be gone.

I'd love to see this but think in the end Mayweather will beat him on all three cards. Be nice if both were fighting looking for the knockout, but we all know Mayweather will test the waters then outbox Pac. I want to be wrong.

Juan Manuel Marquez gave Pacquiao hell because he is smart, tactical boxer. Mayweather is better than Marquez in every area of the game.
i love Pacquiao, but Mayweather wins a clear unanimous decision

I personally think Floyd could beat all of them but I think he's scared of the big guys. Especially Margarito and Cotto. He knows all it would take is one shot to destroy his legacy.
I think Floyd would fight Williams because he's a light puncher.

As others mentioned he went up too classes. He only weighed in at 142. He said he would go back down to 140 after the bout which is right at Hatton

I think that was my point. Don't underestimate him because he is a little smaller. Maybe you are making a different point.
