This show is so freaking mesmerizing!!! Anybody else watch it?
I started catching clips of it a couple months ago late night and I didn't realize it's a 30 min show until a few weeks ago. I guess they feature 3 things every episode?
The show is really quite simple, just some guy narrating with music in the background as they show different steps in the process of producing something. Right now they're showing how street signs are made.
Most interesting one I've seen so far is marbles - that was actually really interesting bc they showed how glass marbles w/ the ribbons inside are made. Also I will happily admit I thought the band-aids episode was really interesting

lol, i used to watch those all the time...iv'e lightened up a bit now. They have a quiz on their website that asks questions on how things are made, so i took it when i was board one day and i got all of them right and it said, Congrats!! You can go on and get your engineering degree now!!!........Funny part is, im a sophomore in engineering.:D

I think it's a good premise, but the set up (just an unseen narrator and video of the steps) gets very boring for me after a while.
Check out Made In America, that's a great show

They show 3 or sometimes 4 items per show.
Slice bread is nice! hard candy, peanut butter.
I think you can send suggestions for future shows as well.

The premise makes me think it should be a total bore, but it's not!! If it's on when I'm channel surfing I always end up watching at least until the end of the current item.

I'm not sure. :D

Any man who respects the Law and loves sausage should never watch either of them being made.

I caught just one episode - the one on licorice and bubble gum was impressive.

I've seen a few episodes, I've really enjoyed them.
One I found really neat was on plastics, and sealing/pressing them together with high frequency, ultrasonic sound. You know, like those hard plastic packages of scissors you buy, where you need scissors to open it?

I watch it sometimes, pretty good show.
I am more of a Dirty Jobs type. That way you see how something is done, and get to laugh at Mike Rowe.

I love How Its Made, my son and I watch it. I just can't get over watching how stuff starts from scratch and ends up as a finished product, I'm so bad with that kind of documentary that I watched a special on wood last night, paper, plywood, cellulose, ethanol, that stuff is very useful.

Yep, good show. I been watching it for several years now. (It started out on the Science Channel) They make the show in Canada; if you watch it enough you'll notice things in French, Canadian flags, brands we don't have down here, etc. Another really good one is Modern Marvels, I think it's on the History Channel.

This show is a great show. I catch fack from my wife about it too, but I don't care. It reminds me of those clips Mr. Rogers used to show.

You dirty dirty thieves. this was a Canadian made show, mainly filmed in Quebec which is why some of the lettering on packages are in French. The original narrator was Canada's openly gay olympic medal winning swimmer, Mark Tewksbury, and was replaced by some lady who pronounces things wrong all the time.
Then you dirty scoundrels take all the video footage and replace the narrator. This show has been airing in Canada since 1999.

Some of the stuff is interesting. But some of the stuff makes you go "Who cares how its made?" Like drumsticks. How complicated can it be? Put some wood on a lathe apply the finish and you're done. Yawn.

Just saw the one on how hotdogs are made, wow that was pretty cool.
My wife almost got sick when they referred to it as meat batter or meat paste. :puke:
This episode also had a segment on how level's are made. Damn I love this show.

it's addictive, just great to zone out while watching. I remember the first time I was watching it, it was while I was at a bar and since I wasn't dirnking that night, I just zoned out to it.
It's like watching Sunrise Earth too if any of you all know or watch that one.

I love this show. I mean what else is on at 2:40 in the morning?
But Time Warp is insane. My friend records all of the episodes and then we have little marathons. As well as Dirty Jobs...I love Mike Rowe.
They're making wooden doors now, but they're about to make paintballs. FTW.

I think part of the reason for finding a new narrator for the US version is to convert the various measurements into US-friendly units. Goofy idiotic units that we use -- they're actually all based on Metric equivalents anyway. So ounce/inch fans, you're using Metric whether you know it or not. For instance, the inch is officially defined as 25.4 millimeters. Suckers!
Anyway, the UK version has a different narrator too -- so I think it's just a matter of people not wanting to hear a Canadian narrator all the time. Also, according to the wikipedia page the Canadian version makes frequent puns, which in my mind would move the show from "Ooh, neat!" to "Ugh, next!"
I love the music. It's like chill Mega Man.
Doooo doo doo doo

Also while I'm posting, I'll take on anyone in Cash Cab. Strangely, the game show I'm best at is Wheel of Fortune. I've never met anyone better than me at that game. Sadly, it's a crap show and I CANNOT STAND TO WATCH IT, so it's a worthless skill.

Time Warp is the best man. I am still recovering of off the Sawed-Off Shotgun episode. Them balloons didn't have a chance.

When I 1st saw the show I didn't like it because the announcer was so boring and monotone. But I find myself stopping and watching it everytime I see it on.

Yeah same here, but his voice grew on me after awhile. It's almost like it becomes part of the machinery as it goes through the process. If he was more animated it be a distraction.

It does hold on to you. I watched an entire show about how they put the bristles in brushes and brooms. Afterwards I was like, "what the heck kept me watching that?"
Unsolved mysteries, I hate. They were unsolved before and they are still unsolved. Otherwise it would be called "Solved Mysteries." Your no better off after you watch the show!
