Etan (2010 expiring contract)
James (2009 player option 2010 expiring)
Songaila (makes the salaries even)

for

Starbury

If we could pull off this trade it would set us up to grab Boozer this off-season.

NY is setting all it's plans for the rebuild in 2010, and it isn't like Steph would see the floor for them this season anyway.

can you imagine this rotation:

Haywood
Boozer
Jamison
Butler
Arenas

Young
Blatche
McGee

Marbury isn't in your new rotation, or were you planning on dumping him after the season? I know that the three people you're trading away in this scenario aren't major players on our team, but this team is already pretty bad, I'm not sure Marbury would help things, and he might destroy the locker room, if it still exists.

If it gets rid of contracts, I'd consider it. The team is in the tank anyway, so who cares about cohesion. 2008-09 is gone. Looking forward to 2009-10.

marbury isn't in my rotation for next season because he wouldn't be on the team

The whole reason for us to make this trade is so we can dump salary and have room for Boozer next year. NY might consider the trade being that Marbury doesn't even play for them. Etan and James' salaries would drop off the books before the 2010 free agent class NY covets.

Boozer is a good offensive player, a better option than Jamison at PF but he is nothing short of horrible on defense coupled with the fact that he is undersized.

We are already undersized at the SF position, we can't dish out big money to another undersized PF.

I don't want Marbury anywhere near this team. He is poison. Yes I know we're in last place but I don't want "Starbury" being a negative influence to our young players.

I love the idea of getting Boozer but just having cap space is not just going to make it happen. He is exactly the type of player we need though. A strong PF who can be an inside presence. I don't agree that his being undersized makes a difference. There aren't many players like him out there. Someone who is coordinated, physical, and can score. He averages 20.5 pts and 11.7 rebs. We have enough jump shooters and need an option in the post and Boozer would be ideal. :2cents:

New York does not do that for 2 reasons. Songaila adds on cap after 2010, which is exactly what they are trying to avoid. Second, they don't have enough roster spots to carry out this deal.

they could wave a player or two....NY has done dumber things int he past few years.
