Being officially eliminated today because of the Falcons win it is not too early to talk about draft position and what winning next week means
An 8-8 record should have the Redskins picking from 13-18.
A 9-7 record and the Redskins are looking at 19-22.
With signing bonuses of first round picks and the risk, it will actually behoove this team to have a lower pick. Along with that, a lower pick is more "tradeable" then a higher pick, to get more picks in round 2 and 3, which the team needs
So ignore draft position next week and hope this team does get down to the high teens as opposed to low teens considering the flexibility that will exist

I would trade down. Though we would probably get more recievers again.

Honestly, as long as Vinny is running the show; there really isn't much hope.

Well that is the point, to trade down. And the 'Skins may actually have an easier time trading down and getting picks from the 19th spot as opposed to the 14th spot

Just try to win next week and well see were we stand after that.

I just want to see improvement, any improvement, on offense. And a breakout game from one of our rookies wouldn't hurt.
But this constant ineptness and tripping on our own shoelaces on offense week in and week out, with absolutely NO sign of light at the end of the tunnel is really getting tiresome.
So that's all i want from our last game. To be honest, anywhere from 13-24 in the first round is about the same, really.

I agree. I'd especially love to see one of the rookie WRs pass catchers step up
But looking at our offensive production the past, oh, 10 games, I am not counting on it.
I'd like to see the D carry over the momentum and the O to get at least 2 TD drives of more then 40 yards

I agree con Zoony, I streamed the game so it was kinda laggy and I didn't see it fully, but from what I saw, our defense was up to par and our offense and Campbell and our offense (Zorn's playcalling/management as well) showed signs of improvement. I really think we'll trade the pick we get anyways, unless we have some ridiculous top 10 stud fall to us (at which point we might go with the BPA strategy god forbid).

I wouldn't count on that to happen honestly. Our defense is great and I would expect to see our offense seriously looked at in the offseason.
I don't think we will be looking at skill positions but rather beefing up the OL.
Keeping a higher pick and drafting a player that we need may be a better idea for the team than trading down, depending on what they do in free agency.
BTW, I also expect the QB position to be looked at under a microscope.

The questions are will we be in the Julius Peppers and or Albert Haynesworth sweepstakes, then after making necessary cuts do we stand pat and address the Line or trade down then address the lines?
Some of us have been watching the draft real hard Navy. If we win next week we'll be able o draft someone with the talent of ARE (right now) AAAAAAAAAH!
NOW, they decide to play! We will go from Eugene Monroe to Rudy Rudigur in 60 minutes next week. wooooo!

Peppers will get a Franchise tag and will probably cost us 2 first rounders to get. Haynesworth will command BIG money. If we can work some contracts or get rid of a few unneeded contracts (Jansen and Springs to start with) then we maybe able to take shot at Haynesworth. But I think first priority should be signing DeAngelo Hall.

I want to win next week but not for the reason you said..Vinny used the excuse that all the O lineman he wanted were gone at their pick this year, I'd rather be in position this time. Still rather win, but no I won't rejoice from the stand point that we will be picking later in the draft.

We need to win next week and have Jason Taylor get 3 and a half sacks. That way dolphins get a later pick in round 2 and we don't look so dumb.

No way. It is easier to trade down from a higher pick. The problem is that perhaps the team doesn't want to lose that player. If we Eugene Monroe at 13 or had Ciryon Black at 19--because while I do winning, I wish we had lost for Draft position-- and Detroit with 2 potential picks (first and second). Detroit would wish to give up the top 2 picks for Eugene Monroe at 13 than those picks for Ciryon Black which may draw a weaker package. So you lose on picks.
That sounds like a good trade. At the Ciryon Black position, we would make a deal if offered, while at the Monroe level, we might actually think Detroit's package isn't as good because Monroe is a stud--and quantity is not always quality.
Trading down is a good idea, but you have to realize, you are giving up a Ciryon Black or Eugene Monroe and those other picks might not be worth it.
The reason is seems harder to trade down is because at the top of the draft, there are players that have serious talent and even reasonable packaes don't make up for it.

Vinny's in charge. I will not worry my head with dreams of an OLine that actually protects the QB and can get some push on a goal line stand.
Vinny's drafting QB, or RB or another TE or WR or another CB to sit the bench. Or maybe a punter or kicker. Anybody and everbody, except Oline.

It's some type of currency we use to trade other teams for old players. I don't know what they are good for but other teams love them!

Since we're likely to pick at around the 18th spot, I can't see us getting one of the elite tackles. Look for teams like STL, Cincy, SF, JAX, Det, KC to be snapping up the large men. Therefore, I would advocate that we pursue Jordan Gross in free agency to start at Right Tackle. Whether we trade down or not from that spot, I say we use our draft pick(s) for an interior OL or the best DLineman available. I'd think about at an OLB in the 3rd round.

With our first pick we could get a Tackle like Black/Britton/jason Smith,
A Guard like duke Robinson or C/G like Unger/Mack,
A Def. Tackle like Raji/Jerry
A Def.End like Johnson/Jackson/everette Brown
But no,the F.O. will want to make up for last years mistakes and trade down and pick up lesser talents who cannot help the team straight away.
Who can trust them to get it right this time?

If we land in the 19-21 range then yeah, picking up Duke Robinson would be great. You have to remember that Kendall isn't signed for next year, so we need a replacement for him. I also like BJ Raji at DT, but I think our offense needs more help.
Thing is, even if we trade down we could still possibly pick up Raji. But we should also have Loadholt and Herman Johnson as options if we trade down. Personally I like the prospect of Loadholt being our RT. He's probably not nimble enough for LT but the guy could be a beast at RT. He could probably start right away over Jansen or Heyer.
Oh, and I doubt a center goes in the first round. There are 3 good centers who should come out this year and one should slip to us if we trade into the 2nd round.

You said it once already, in the beginning of this thread on the first page for everyone to see.
I mean, really? Did you really need to say that? This is the type of negativity that's sickening. You can't even take a normal discussion happening without needing to inject some negativity into it. It bothered you so much that the discussion continued and noone responded to you. You needed to make sure you got a response. Well, hear you go. Good job.

I would love to get Raji. I think the line does need more help as well, but if we could get Raji, that'd be solid. We can make a run at Gross, sign him to something like 5-6 years (he'd be 33-34 when contract ends, which isn't too old for a tackle.) That would shore up our offensive line some. W
e could move Jansen to guard (which I think we should do...he's good a run-blocking, he just can't stop the fast rushers) or center. It's worth a shot. We could trade next year's 1st for a 2nd most likely, maybe a 3rd and 4th instead (we always have 'next year's' picks to trade). And get the interior linemen we need.

I think there are enough good OL that we should be able to get one of the top guys at OG or OT as late as the mid-20. Our pick will not be any later than 19th, if we can trade back to around 24 or 25 we should still be able to get a solid linemen.

I couldn't agree with you more. Cerratto is no Bobby Beathard. The Redskins were able to win three super bowls and have winning seasons under Gibbs because of the hard work Bobby Beathard put in to getting the right players. Cerratto is not as talented as Beathard and therefore this team will be average as long as Cerratto is the GM.

Pick up a stud o and d lineman in the draft.
Then trade down from 1 for two twos or something, trade our 3 for two 4s.
2nd - Best d tackle available
2nd - best o tackle available
4th - best SAM left
4th - Best center available
5th - best d end available
6th - best guard available

I understand your sarcasm, but I doubt we'll address the skill positions on offense again.
I don't have a problem with our picks from last year. We now took a need and solidified it, although we're still waiting on production.
This year, we'll hopefully address our OL.
