Watching the press conference, it seems it would make sense if he was interested. I know it would break alot of our hearts to see Vinny go, but, it would make sense.
He knows the WCO, has been a successful HC and really could mentor JZ in his growing pains as a HC.

I am not saying he would be interested in being a GM, but, I could see Danny making a huge splash in locking this guy up. If it didn't work with JZ then we have a GM in place who could assume the duties as HC and GM. May sound crazy, but again, just a thought.

Your thoughts.

NOOOOOOOOOOOO!!!!

Read what espn.com had to say about him. Ever since Elway left he has had a decade of bad decisions when it comes to personal and players. If he comes here (and no I dont want him) it should be as a coach, hire someone else to make personal calls.

I guess we haven't reached the critical 4,768 NO response threshold on this yet

Get off his ****! Who would Mike pick another Tatum Bell, or free agents like Courtney Brown. The bottom line is Shannahan never won without John Elway. And he has lost his touch since Kubiak left for Houston. Stop the nonesense. Please people. Mike sucks. He lost in one of the worst divison in football. His descision making is terrible. He is the first in my opinion to have a siemese bust for the HoF. Him and John Elway, becuase he would never had gotten there if he didn't have John.

Yeah it would suck to have a guy that won 2 Superbowls helping us.

But it will never happen. Obviously.

Jay Cutler and Eddie Royal seem like pretty solid pick ups. Who did Vinny-Bugeyes pick this past year again?

If Snyder had any sense he would be on the phone with Shanahan right now. We need somebody of his caliber to over see things. Snyder and Cerrato have no clue on building a great team.

He's also got one of the worst defenses in the league. Blache is not a personnel guy, so it's all up to Shanahan to find the talent. How's that turned out?

I guess you all don't get it. Until someone there finds and destroys Vinnie's copies of the pictures he has of Dan doing whatever he did partying the night he bought the Skins, he is going to be our GM and we are going to suck.

Shannahan has been horrible as GM....so was Holmgren. I don't know why anyone would want either of them as their GM.

The current staff in place is what we have. If Zorn doesn't get us to the playoffs next year then we'll be fishing for another HC.

Appears he lost his job in Denver based on his personnel decisions rather than any coaching miscues. Don't think it's a good idea to bring him here as GM. :2cents:

Great idea,.

Avoid Shanahan. Seriously, this is a dumb idea. Shanny is a decent coach, but a horrible GM. It'd be a lateral move because he's no better than Vinny.

When Shanny started Tatum Bell, the no-namer, he had a 1,000-yard season with a 4.5 YPC. In 1999, Shanahan gave a majority of the carries to a guy named Olandis Gary and he even put up 1,100 yards. What the hell did Cerrato get out of T.J. Duckett? As for Courtney Brown, Shanny took a shot at potential. And NO ONE can say Vinny hasn't done that. Mark Carrier? Jerimiah Trotter? Jessie Armstead?

I think Zorn deserves another year but there is no way I would be angry about a Shanahan-Portis reunion.

I was going to start a new thread but its better to ask the question here. Did Bowlen do the right thing in firing Shannahan? If so, should DS get a clue and do the same and get rid of our GM for giving us years of mediocre results on the field?

He was fired as a GM not as a coach. I think ESPN said he has had the least amount of drafted players become starters than anyone out there right now!

Do you know who broke Snyder's record for highest payroll in NFL history that he set in 2000?
Mike Shanahan in 2001.
The guy is a great offensive mind, but he makes some seriously stupid and expensive moves. Forget the entire Browns defensive line and coaches. (They were the anchor of the 31st ranked defense the year before.) Could you imagine if he did that here? If he came here and went to detroit and signed their whole DL, and their defensive coordinator, I believe he would need police protection to get to and from his office.
He signed lucrative cap heavy contracts with Ebenezer Ekuban, Chester McGlockton, DALE CARTER... did he ever play a down between drunken benders for Denver?
After first round pick Brian Griese's first year he gave him a BIG FAT RAISE, and then ended up swallowing a 7 million dollar cap hit to get rid of him two years later.

Since Elway retired he's been a slightly above average coach, nothing more. The myth of his vaunted running game dried up as soon as the NFL banned the Broncos BS cut blocking schemes, and Gary Kubiak left for Houston.

I wouldn't hire Shammahan to be a GM of a carwash.

Yeah, and then he lost his offensive coordinator, and they outlawed his blocking schemes, and what has he gotten?
7 running backs on injured reserve in one season.

As for Courtney Brown, Shanny took a shot at potential. And NO ONE can say Vinny hasn't done that. Mark Carrier? Jerimiah Trotter? Jessie Armstead? Yeah, but why go get ANOTHER bonehead? Hell, we already have one.
