View Full Version : Orange Bowl Champs *******

This deserves its own thread.
To the idiots that thought the ACC should give up its BCS bid..........
:finger:
Your stupidity has been exposed.
Your argument might have held water with the Big 10, but I still would've called you out on your lunacy. We just completely owned, dominated, and destroyed the Big East Champ. Maybe your beef is with them?
The ACC still let me down though. Our (conference) bowl performance was nothing short of a disgrace in my opinion. **** you UNC, Clemson, NCState, Miami with particular :dunce: awards going to GT and BC (who has no business being in the ACC in the first place). Both schools are an embarrassment to the conference.
Now :stfu: to all the haters and doubters.
BACK TO BACK ACC CHAMPS AND 2009 ORANGE BOWL CHAMPIONS.
Congrats to Beamer for exorcising the BCS demons. Congrats to Stiney for exploring page 2 of the playbook. And CONGRATS TO FOSTER FOR HIS STELLAR D!!!
Bring on Alabama!

Dissapointed in particular in UNC, Clemson BC and GT
NCSU was done after Wilson was injured
UNC had that game, gave it away
BC, what the hell?
And GT
FSU will be damn good next year, they should win the Atlantic.
The Coastal will be a dog fight, I am looking forward to it though
Good start to 2009. See you all in Atlanta labor day weekend

you beat a Big East team that also had little business being there. While many said the ACC was the worst conference, I'd easily rank them above the Big Ten and Big East. Big East was far and away the most worthless conference. Celebrate now, but I don't think this win has proved anything to anyone.

I don't really care who the opponent was. VT and the ACC both needed a BCS bowl win badly. Mission accomplished.
VT has essentially carried the conference since it joined. We were lambasted for losing to Kansas last year as conference flag bearer. No longer. We won the conference its first BCS Bowl since Bill Clinton was in the White House. Think about that for a minute.
Hokie Nation will enjoy this one.

The ACC was 1-2 vs the Big East (and 4-6 as a conference overall) in bowl games. The Bug East is currently 3-2 with one more game.
Congrats though on the Orange Bowl win. The ACC had to win a BCS bowl eventually, it had only been 10 years.

Very true. But the ACC Champ also completely dominated the Big East Champ. How does that figure into your logic?

It counts as one game. Congrats on your win, we should have beaten Cincinnatti and won the BE when we had the chance.

I just knew it would eventually come against the Big East (for VT)
Virginia Tech is now 5-0 against the Big East since leaving the BE
Auburn in 2004 was a damn good team. 13-0 and one of the more fun games i have been at
Last year was a complete 100 percent meltdown and terrible. Lack of preparation was evident
This year it was clear Beamer learned from last year's tough lessons.
Nice to have a coach that can learn and adjust. Bud has this year with how he attacks spread teams. If Stiney puts together a competent O next season will be a lot of fun
And one more note on last night
Is Brian Kelly the most overrated "hot young" coach in America?
The guy was cussing up a storm on the sideline and was getting completely taken to the woodshed by Foster. The Big East can keep him

I want Bud Foster as the Saints defensive coordinator :-).

i didn't watch the game.
but when i see the highlights, and you win by 13 points, relying on a goal line stand on 4th and 1 at the 1 yard line to seal the win, i'd hardly call it total domination.
but whatever, enjoy it. must be nice to know you can almost count on getting to the bcs with 3 or 4 losses in your conference.

Now now Major - their conference was arguable the best conference in football this year, don't you remember? As evidenced by the 4-6 record in bowl games.

The real question though is...did the Hokie fans start yelling ACC after the big win?

i'm also amused at how much a bowl game means this year. last year, bowl games didnt' mean anything, right?

They never do when you lose them. That, or your team didn't take it seriously.

In the grand scheme of things none of these games really matter except for the MNC game. They are just glorified exhibition games.
Which is the point I had been making forever. It is a hell of a lot more fun to win them then lose them though.
It is clear though that a weight has been lifted off many people in the Hokie nation getting this win. Relief is a better word then anything
BTW, when you rush for 258 yards and hold the ball for 35 minutes, you pretty much dominated your opponent
Bitter bitter WVU people today. Almost as girly as the UVA fans today.
Come on guys, you all have 2 BCS wins in the past 4 years and get to add a tire bowl trophy this year.
And Bill Stewart as head coach!

Clearly a bunch of choke jobs.
UNC losing was nonsense. BC was an embarrasment and they should be ashamed. NCSU I can't really fault them because once Wilson went down they were done
GT and Clemson. Those were the big WTFs
Ah well. Can't get them all to cooperate for message board trash talking :)

Amused people smile, move on, and enjoy Tire Bowl wins over a Butch Davis coached squad
:)
And really, I am not downplaying the Tire Bowl win. From what every pundit tells me and what ESPN says UNC has "swagger" and will be the next national power
So really a fine job of beating the amazing future national title winning baby blue Tarheels

Meh - I doubt that UNC will be a national power anytime soon.

i just find your constant flip-flopping to be funny, and hokie4 is just hokie4, if i didn't respond he wouldn't love me anymore.

what if you do that and lose?
which had it not been for a VERY clutch tackle, it could've happened. (that hit at the goal line was textbook)

What was so surprising about Clemson losing to the Huskers? VT, the ACC #1, just barely beat Nebraska during the regular season. Clemson was mediocre at best this year. The Huskers have run off 4 wins in a row since the Sooners dropped 62 on them in November. Just seems to me like it wasn't much of a shocker ..

You know how I do, I tend to get real high off the wins and shrug off the losses. I do that with the Redskins too
Thats kinda how I live my life in general. Can't cry over spilt milk but can enjoy success
In the end, its just a win in a meaningless game over the number 12 team in the country while playing in Miami. Nothing more, nothing less

Thats Beamerball man. Besides the Vick years (both of them) thats the formula. Ball control, great D, get a big play somewhere
And that was Barquell Rivers who made that tackle, a RS-freshmen having to fill in for Don Warren's son. You will be hearing his name quite a bit the next 3 years

Gonna have another real good one next year.
I can't wait until Ryan Williams is unleashed this fall.
The power of Darren Evans, the unreal speed of Ryan Williams behind an o-line bringing back 4 of 5 starters is gonna be sick
Add in true freshmen David Wilson next year (who will probably redshirt) and the RB pipeline is quite loaded
