The United States never launched a major attack or invasion or went to war with Iran, Syria, North Korea, Saudi Arabia or France
The draft was never re-instated (remember those MTV commercials in 2004?)
Patriot Act 2? :whoknows:
Internment camps for Muslims?
Bush hasn't done this
http://www.volconvo.com/forums/politics-government/24056-executive-order-13233-there-chance-bush.html
The presidential directive says that, when the president considers an emergency to have occurred, an "Enduring Constitutional Government", comprising "a cooperative effort among the executive, legislative, and judicial branches of the Federal Government, coordinated by the President," will take the place of the nation's regular government, presumably without the oversight of Congress.
Conservative activist Jerome Corsi and Marjorie Cohn of the National Lawyers Guild have said that this is a violation of the Constitution of the United States in that the three branches of government are separate and equal, with no single branch coordinating the others. The directive, created by the president, claims that the president has the power to declare a catastrophic emergency.
Any other fear mongering from 2004 I am unable to recall?

As near as I can tell, tens of thousands of Americans are not imprisoned without due process on the basis of illegal wiretapping. Then again, if they were in secret prisons and had no right... how would we know?

Ah well, what do you expect, it's the internet.

what would you like us to say? yeah he did some good things, but he also did some things that the majority of people didn't agree with. yeah, there hasn't been another terrorist attack, but the economy is a disaster and we are fighting 2 wars. so its not like he's been amazing as president.

There was concern in 2000 that Clinton would refuse to vacate the White House for one reason or another. I'm convinced that this "maybe-he-won't-leave" story comes up every time a 2-termer gets close to his last year as president. ...Unless he's Reagan, who by 1988 didn't even remember what color the White House was.
This time around, the irony is that Bush couldn't possibly want to get the hell out of there any MORE than he already does. He's over being president, and has been since about 2005.

Something else that didn't happen? Competence. (http://www.usnews.com/usnews/news/articles/070318/26glo.htm)
And it wasn't a one off deal. There was more incompetence. Much more:
First, everyone loves to trot out the tired rhetoric that "We haven't been attacked since 9/11". Well, that is true. However, why does nobody seem to hold W. to task FOR 9/11 when his terrorism Czar had been trying since day one of the Bush administration (http://www.gwu.edu/~nsarchiv/NSAEBB/NSAEBB147/index.htm) to impress the seriousness of the threat (http://www.cbsnews.com/stories/2004/03/19/60minutes/main607356.shtml) on the them. Unfortunately, they knew but did nothing. (http://www.smh.com.au/news/world/they-knew-but-did-nothing/2008/03/07/1204780065676.html?page=fullpage) With that in mind, the familiar refrain that "We haven't been attacked since 9/11" means little.
So in spite of what his advisors were telling him, W. and Co. decides that Iraq was to blame somehow for 9/11. They then proceed to waste a brilliant performance by the military in routing Saddam's forces by going to incredible heights of incompetence by not planning for, and mismanaging post-invasion Iraq.
So, after looking at the lessons learned from the chaos of 9/11, did they learn anything about managing disasters? Looking strictly at the Federal "response" to Katrina, evidently not. (http://media.www.kaleo.org/media/storage/paper872/news/2005/09/15/Editorials/Poor-Katrina.Preparation.An.Example.Of.Bushs.Ineptitude-2797293.shtml)
Competence also didn't happen with regard to early warnings (http://www.msnbc.msn.com/id/28001417/) about the pernicious effects of deregulation on the economy.
So nevermind what didn't happen under W., I'm looking forward to what WILL happen in an Obama administration, competence and leadership based much less on ideology than what works.

Yeah, that's incredibly unfair to Bar. I'm sure she denies she's his mother whenever it comes up. :)
FWIW, I like W. and Bush Sr. They both seem like good guys in their own way and I think H.W. Bush got a really bad rap. However, there's just no way to sugarcoat it, W. is/was simply a horrible POTUS. He has turned out to be the GOP's Jimmy Carter.
I feel like a real moron to have voted for him...twice.

How could you vote for Bush twice? By 2004, it was clear he wasn't a good president and had to go. It's just the democrats didn't have a good candidate against him. I think Al Gore would've won a rematch. Hillary Clinton would've beaten him in 2004.
I voted for W in 2000 but saw my mistake and voted Libertarian in 2004.

1. Bush was not a uniter but a divider.
2. The war or terror is hardly over and frankly has been made worse. After 9/11, Bush could've gotten the whole world to help confront terror head on and end the conditions that bread it. His Iraq diversion killed that.
3. America is not safer and quite frankly is more at risk now.
4. The U.S. is not so energy dependent on terrorists oil.
5. Government spending went down.
You can go on and on. Someone said Bush will end up as a Top 20 president. No he won't. He will be in the Bottom 10.
