I have Windows Vista, and for some reason have encountered an "Unidentified Network" and cannot connect to or recognize my network anymore for some reason.
I have tried just about every solution attempt and workaround I can find on the net to fix it, called my ISP provider, and nothing has helped. I have reset my modem, tried changing my IP settings, my DNS settings, run some "regedit" thing. Nothing has worked.
Do any of you know of anything I can do to get my computer to get rid of this unidentified network and recognize my normal one?

I don't have Vista, but with XP, doing a system restore almost always solves weird problems like that.
Good luck.

that didn't work either. Ugh!!
I called technical support at HP and those douches wanted to charge me 50 bucks just to speak to a "highly trained" professional with no gaurentee that they will solve my problem. This is so frustrating.

How are you connected? Is it wireless or ethernet?

Try this, the pictures aren't loading for me but it should work. Basically you have to tell your wireless adapter which of the two networks is the preferred one you want to connect to

All of the other computers in my house will pick up the network. I am currently on my wife's laptop. My Ipod touch will connect to it, and my Ps3 will connect to it. But my desktop says unidentified network, and doesn't list any other networks in the connect to a network center.

So all of your devices see the correct network and only your desktop is listing that as an unidentified network? If that's the case and you don't see two networks to connect to then my guess is the network you should be connecting to is now showing up as "unidentified network" on the desktop and not some rouge network being broadcast to you.
What software are you using to connect to the wireless network?

All I know is the adapter and router are Netgear.

If the computer in question is a desktop, why is connected to the internet via wireless and not ethernet?
The unidentified network can be deleted, so that the only one your computer sees is your network, sorry dont have vista , i dont know how to get into the settings there.

Someone just opened one a few days ago called "The Computer Help Thread" or something like that.
I will need to post in it as well. My laptop is giving me hell.
