2009 Power Rankings: Week 16

#2 Capitals 34-16-4

Mike Green has scored in six consecutive games, and his 19 goals top all NHL blueliners. "Practically everything he is touching is turning to gold, and I hope it doesn't end. He can play for 30 minutes and never look tired," Capitals coach Bruce Boudreau told The Washington Times.

I don't really agree. San Jose and Boston are clearly the top 2 teams in the league right now, I don't care if they're going through mini-struggles, they're clearly the cream.

Agreed. How the hell does San Jose drop to 5? The Devils overtake them? Come on, the power rankings are way off. I put us at 3 or 4. We're definitely behind Boston (despite our 2-0-1 record against them) and San Jose, and possibly Detroit.

EDIT: Though, doing the math, we are 5-1-3 against those other "top 5" teams, which isn't too shabby. San Jose is the only team that has beaten us in regulation out of the group.

Fellas fellas, let's just enjoy the fact that we're one of the best teams in the NHL, regardless of what a power ranking says.

When the hell did MEANINGLESS power rankings come about in the NHL?

Seriously, the NFL power rankings are a joke and just plain idiotic, why is the NHL following suit? ughhh I dont pay attention to them and never will.

I can only get on line for 45 minutes a day. They busted my ass Friday about internet use and I got written up for it. I'm coming in here from 1 - 1:45 during lunch and that's it. God I hate my friggin job! I need to get a new one.

I like seeing us that high, but i too think we're probably behind the Sharks. I'd put us at 3, with Boston and San Jose being 1 and 2. When we're on our game though, I think we're better than New Jersey and Detroit. When we play below our talent level, we can easily slip to 5 behind both of those teams.

They have been around just as long as the NFL Power Rankings. And yes, they are meaningless, but I still enjoy seeing the experts evaluate us as one of the best teams in the league.

People at ESPN aren't experts.
