Just curious what experiences you had, and what the company culture is like... good/bad/etc. Or on the really, really, really outside chance that anyone has worked as a District Manager for them or knows someone who does, that'd be really great :silly:
Or if anyone has done business with them in some other capacity other than going thru the checkout line, I'd be interested to hear about that as well
Thanks peeps

I don't know much. However, I do know that my co-worker used to work for them (just a cashier) but, she did say that it was the best job she ever had.
That's it. Not much but, I am sure that it is better than nothing.

The ones around me are really ghetto. My friend works there and all he talks about is how lazy everyone is.

Pay is good, management is nice. From what I hear its the perfect job for a High School student or College student in need of a part time job.

(which is why my co-worker said it was the best job she ever had)

Interesting, thanks for the feedback. I'd heard that Target management can be very tough/strict on the hourly associates

I worked there three nights but it was too mind-numbing for me (what I was doing).
That said the culture was great, management was nice, and the pay wasn't too bad. If I was looking for a job in that type of retail setting, Target would be my choice.

I was a team lead there and that lasted for about three months before I quit. The hours were all screwy, plus most of the people that I worked with were lazy, and didn't want to do their jobs properly. In fact, other team leads expected you to do their jobs when they were off (as opposed to subordinates doing the job). In their defense, sometimes, Target didn't allocate enough hours to take car of departments when leads were off. But, it was a pain in the butt to take care of at least two departments twice a week. Especially, when you are in charge of your department.
When I quit, they wanted to promote me. They said, "But you are so good at this." I turned them down at that time and decided enough was enough. I was done with retail. I had worked with Winn Dixie grocery stores for about 8 years prior to that, and I hated every minute of it. I was offered store management positions there as well. I felt that Target was worse than Winn Dixie, simply because they did not give me help in my department on my days off. At least at Winn Dixie, I was in control of certain people and had some authority.
The only good thing that I could say about working for Target was that once a month you recieved a weekend off, with the exception of December, for obvious reasons.
But, in their defense, I have met plenty of people that enjoy working for Target. I hate retail, and pray that I never have to go back. Of the people that I know that work for them, they would rather work at Target than any other retail job.
Also, as a team lead, we were only guaranteed 32-36 hours a week. I didn't find that out until I started working there. It really ticked me off because I wanted a 40 hour a week job. I hardly ever recieved 40 hours while there.
Hope this helps. I am a little under the weather tonight, so hopefully this makes sense. If not, I will try to clear it up later.

depends. i worked there for about a year. most of the management were the coolest people...and others were the most strict/retarded people ever.
for the most part i really enjoyed working there and the people (minus a select few managers) were laid back.

Maybe 4 years ago for about 8 months. Day-shift in the backroom. I think everyones experience is going to be different. Hell my experience was different day to day. It all depends who the manager at the time is. Overall it was a good experience. I can't really remember having any complaints about the company. Working with teenagers gets tiresome sometimes and we had one manager who was an absolute ****. But that's it. Upper management was always friendly. We did pizza parties and stuff from time to time. Benefits were good, considering. Worked with you if you had a schedule issue. And after about 4 months I had an opportunity at an assisstant manager spot. (turned down, school.) A chill, laidback job basically. But I'm a chill, laidback dude so that's pretty much my experience everywhere. I never heard anyone else complain (except about the **** manager) so I think it was the same deal for everyone.
Hope that helps :)
You might wanna consider going to the Target in question and talk to some of the employees there. They'll be better able to fill you in on what the deal is at that specific store.

I interviewed with them for management but did not accept their offer (took another) about 4 years back in Gainesville. The people that I talked with there were nice and seemed fun (the ones that had a clue of what was going on in the store anyways), seemed enthusiastic, etc... but that's an interview.
Since I took another job that's all that I got.

In this day and age that could mean not allowing them to text message while on the clock. ;)
