SportsRadio 6010 in Houston reports that the Vikings will sign Sage Rosenfels to a new three-year, $9 million deal once his trade to Minnesota is done.

The station says there is still haggling about compensation, however. The Texans want a third-rounder and Minnesota is offering a fifth. The station expects the sides to settle on a fourth, but it doesn't sound like a deal is done.

Sage is a younger Gus Ferrotte. He's a good backup and spot starter. Is that their intent?

Does this mean TJax and Sage will be in competition?

Awesome. I always liked Sage, I think he takes the team far.

Sage is a good QB, and I think he'll start for the Vikings. Frerotte didn't do so well last year, and it seems like they're not too keen on Jackson. I think it's a good move for them.

The Texans want a third-rounder and Minnesota is offering a fifth.I hate to say it but Sage exemplifies poor Redskin decision making. He was a Redskin 4th round pick in 01. Spurrior traded him to Miami for a 7th.

I'd say Trent Green represents it more.

I'd say Trent Green represents it more.Much better QB and wish they could have kept him. In the Redskins defense their hands were somewhat tied legally. They couldn't even slap a transition tag on him.

They need a long term solution.

I think if Jackson doesn't pan out this year, they'll be drafting a long-term replacement next season.

I don't think that there is any way that Jackson CAN pan out. The dude is just horrible.

I would love to see what Minnie could do with a real QB. It seems like they could be a real threat in the conference if they could get any type of stability and decent play from the QB position. Even knowing that Gus was slightly injured, I'm still miffed as to why they went back to Jackson during the playoffs.

Two games I watched Rosenfels play this season, and both left me either laughing, or literally thinking he was shaving points.

The game winning drive against the Colts were he attempted to gain extra yardage by jumping in the air (actually it was more like a 360 spin) got stuck, lost the ball, and the Colts went down to score to win the game. That play will never leave my mind . I DVR'd it and watched it over and over with laughter.

Against the Ravens Rosenfels had a decent first half against against the Ravens. The second half....completley different story.

He literally threw 2 footballs right to Ray Lewis. There throws were so unacceptable that I literally turned to my buddy and said "There's no way Rosenfels couldn't of seen Ray Lewis standing right in front of him". It almost looks like he's giving the game away."

Rosenfels builds you up, to tear you down.

Funny

First Gus, now Sage.

Next thing you know they'll bring in Ramsey for a workout.

ESPN's John Clayton confirms that Sage Rosenfels will be sent to the Vikings for "a No. 4" when the trading period begins Friday.

We'll have to see if the fourth-rounder can escalate based on starts and stats. Sage will be the heavy favorite to win Minnesota's QB battle with Tarvaris Jackson, assuming Rosenfels isn't named the winner right away.
