Any word on if we are still going after Angelo Crowell?

Last I heard was on the 24th... right now we are $4 million under the cap and have plenty more options of getting more cap space.

Signing him and drafting o-lineman would make this offseason VERY NICE.

Yeah I'd love to have him, the only thing I'm afraid of is him coming off of a season ending injury.

I would love to have him he and Willis and trade back and draft talent that can develop would be great or take him and draft a new number one tackle

Man I love this off season

His injury wasn't season ending the Bills decided to put him on IR and that's why he filed a grievance

i hope we do snag a LB, that way we can draft depth and maybe a starting RT.
with the pressure we are going to be getting im sure itll make any LB we grab look good.

Does anybody have a clue what our cap position is right now? Don't forget we need cap space for our rookie pool and probably $1M of contingency for injuries.

I seriously doubt we have much if anything left for anything other than the odd vet min deal with really small bonus payments at this point.

LavarLeap56 said in the Doc is back thread that we probably won't be going after anybody else and to start looking at draft prospects.

there is no next bro, time to study some mock drafts were not doing anything else.

It really doesn't matter what the cap number is. The FO will manipulate the hell out of it and do with it what they want. The cap is our *****!

If you believe Vinny he said on Redskin Nation / NFL Network that the Draft money is already accounted for so theres no worries on that acccording to Vinny

Just my opinion, but ... we'll wait for the dust to settle, see who goes where in the coming days, and then look at who's there at SLB and RT ... we'll look for young, hungry kids that we can sign for respectable $$$, but not break the bank. Expect a few more re-strutures to trickle out in the news over the next 3-4 days ... then, on draft day ... trade down and try to secure a 2nd and 4th this year (hello, Detroit?) and focus on lineman (OT,DE,OC,OG,LB) ... then let the fun begin in mini-camp.

This may work out afterall ... we'll see.

I was wondering about what was going on with him too. I had not seen him linked to any teams yet.

No we need more O-linemen so we can draft Rey Maualuga.

Well you wouldnt expect him to say gee, now I just have to wonder how the hell we're gonna sign our draft picks?! Lol.

I still wouldnt be surprised to see Taylor cut. I'd like to see him play one more season with the Skins, especially with Haynesworth. Just have to wait and see how the draft turns out.

Get Cato June or him and focus on the lines in the draft.

The OP indicted cap room of 4M. I'd estimate that this number, if true, would leave us with about 1-2M of space. If we REALLY want more space, we can easily find another 8.5M-9M although so far the FO has indicated it doesn't want that space. With certain restructurings, we could find between another 5-6M.

Getting Cato June makes zero sense. Hes a MLB in a cover 2 defense, the only place he would fit on the skins is on the weak side where Rocky resides. At 227 lbs June might make it 4 games at SLB. :chair:

signing him and a rt would be very nice. willis has been mentioned and i also like the thought of khalif barnes being brought in and moved to rt.then we can do what ever draft day.even a trade.

I think Crowell will be the next signing we make but not for a few days or a week. We will let the dust settle and bring him in for a visit. Id like to sign Willis as well. If we got both of them signed it would make draft day even better. We would be in a position to potentially draft any position because we wouldnt need a starter anywhere really. So if someone fell to us at #13 we could either take them or trade back if we found a good valued trade.

I'd rather get a solid O-Tackle if possible. Where we are in the draft though is almost perfect position for us. One of the top 4 O-Lineman is bound to drop to us, maybe even two of them will (Oher/Smith). If we want a Linebacker we could potentially have a choice of drafting Ray Maluaga, Brian Cushing, or James Laurinitas.

I would love for us to find a way to get Clint Sintim from Virginia. I think that would be a very good choice and he could be a monster playing behind a guy like Albert.

This would so much easier if we just restructure Jason Taylor's contract. Why we won't do it is beyond me, I just don't get it.

I'd love to have Crowell and then use that #13 on a RT (Oher, Smith) or sign Willis and use the #13 on a LB (Maualuga)

Contracts with one year remaining don't get restructured, as their is no benefit to the player. He has already said he will not take a pay cut, aka restructure.

The only way that this can be done in reality is to extend the current contract of the player to a multi year deal and spread the cap figure out to multiple years. Taylor is not sure how long he will play beyond this season, so this scenario is unlikely.

The other option is simply to cut Taylor and save $8m on the cap. However, there are few DE's in this FA market and none more talented than Taylor (when not suffering through 2 separate leg injuries in one year, that is.).

Im pretty sure we can reduce Taylors contract to a certain amount and the difference is converted into a signing bonus to make up the 8 mil total

What is he going to sign? His contract is already signed and you can't add a signing bonus posthumously http://i4.photobucket.com/albums/y146/vlad3060/emoticons/deal-2.gif

The only way it could be done is to convert base salary to some sort of incentive based payout, which very rarely happens.

I'm sorry for assuming resturcturing a contract included possibly adding length to it as well. You make it sound as if he doesn't know if he's playing after this coming season, which makes sense to him not wanting to restructure. Can't we just extend his contract to two years instead of one and turn the money he's guranteed in this current contract into some kind of equivalent roster bonus? He can retire any time he wants and get guranteed money anyway, right?

It is extremely unlikely we cut Taylor. I'd be less surprised to see him play longer than this year than for him to be cut, and I hope that's the case. I'm thinking we're done for a day or two in FA, with maybe a late signing of Ray Willis (OT, Seattle). It would be a good signing imo, he is familiar with the system, young, and when rumors came out of us talking to him it was said he's better than anything we've got. I wonder if the Canty thing is out the window due to the late release of Dockery from the Bills, but we'll see soon obviously.

I'm hoping we sign Willis and draft Maualuga, but I wouldn't be too disappointed if we traded back as long as we made smart moves like Duke Robinson or Herman Johnson or one of the top rated centers. Especially if Maualuga is already off the board.

He could if he wanted to be disingenuous about the whole issue, which all reports say that he has been very forthright about his future plans, even with the Skins before they signed him last year.

It takes two to extend and I'm not aware of anything out there that says Taylor would be willing to do this.
