I know it's a bit dated but 40:1?? LOL Look at the Lions.

For most oddmakers and sportbetting experts, Tom Brady’s return automatically puts the Patriots as favorites to win the Super Bowl XLIV on February 7th, 2010. New England has opened the last two seasons as favorite to win the NFL championship, in 2008 the team was undefeated until losing the Super Bowl in the last minute against the New York Giants, and this season the Patriots became only the second team in NFL history to miss the playoffs after finishing the regular season with an 11-5 record. This time is no different, and according to the Las Vegas oddmakers, the Patriots are once again favored to win the Super Bowl XLIV, on February 7th, 2010 at the Dolphin Stadium.

“The Patriots coming into this year were overwhelming favorites based on what they did last year. They’re going to have pretty much the same team as long as Brady comes back, so they should be the favorite again.” said Mike Seba, Las Vegas Sports Consultants’ senior oddsmaker.

The Pittsburgh Steelers, who are -6.5 point favorites to win the Super Bowl game against the Arizona Cardinals, are the second choice for next year’s game at 7-1, followed by the New York Giants and Indianapolis Colts, who appear listed at 8-1. The Dallas Cowboys have 9-1 odds to win the 2010 title, while the Chargers show listed at 10/1. The Baltimore Ravens, who lost to Pittsburgh in the American Football Conference championship game, are listed at 11-1. The Carolina Panthers, Philadelphia Eagles and Tennessee Titans have all 12-1 odds. The longest shot in the board so far are the Oakland Raiders, Kansas City Chiefs and St Louis Rams, who according to the Las Vegas oddmakers, have 100-1 chances to win the NFL title.

I thought there was a thread a month or so ago saying we were 35:1 to win. We pick up Haynesworth, and now we're 40:1?

Edit: I found it. Gotta love google

The Jags are better, Gregg Williams is now gone, and Tampa has an easier division. The NFC south was decent last year, but not normally.

The odds change daily, especially with free agency going on. I for one am glad we're underdogs once again. The day the Redskins are a favorite in the league or even in our division is... well a day I doubt we see in the near future.

People have been saying that every season for the better part of 15 years.

I am ready to be a favorite.

Haha, I see your point. But it's so much more fun to surprise people, rather than be a disappointment. Either way I think we can agree... :dallasuck

9/1 for the pukes, are you kidding me!?

Vegas does that to take money from the large (bandwagon) Puke fanbase.

Haven't won a playoff game in 11 years + Annual Sports Media Hype = Easy Money.

The Jags finished 6-10 or 5-11 last year I can't remember. The Bucs just cut the heart and soul of their d, have no qb, and are changing coaches. I don't see the NFC South as being an easy division. The Saints, Panthers, and Falcons are all good teams.

Those odds are too kind.

First of all, odds are always based on what bookies expect people to believe, not on what the well-informed opinion should be. The two may be related in many cases, but they're rarely the same.

Now, that said, even odds would be 31:1. So at 40:1 we're slightly below average. I'd say that's fair.

Would anybody really say our chances of making the Superbowl are that much different than the Bears, Broncos or Bills? I wouldn't.

I like the underdog role too...let the media/Vegas keep placing their bets on the Cowboys...that makes for an even bigger laugh when they don't win.
