Seriously?

Janet Napolitano gave an interview to a German Newspaper. The link has the full interview, so you can't say i just got this from watching Hannity. IMO, this is a bit ridiculous and goes beyond "politically correct".

While she didn't say that she wouldn't use the term ever again, what the hell is the point in man made disasters? You can put a wolf in sheeps clothing, but it's still a ****ing wolf people.

SPIEGEL: Madame Secretary, in your first testimony to the US Congress as Homeland Security Secretary you never mentioned the word "terrorism." Does Islamist terrorism suddenly no longer pose a threat to your country?

Napolitano: Of course it does. I presume there is always a threat from terrorism. In my speech, although I did not use the word "terrorism," I referred to "man-caused" disasters. That is perhaps only a nuance, but it demonstrates that we want to move away from the politics of fear toward a policy of being prepared for all risks that can occur.

Terrorism has become way too much of a political buzzword since 9/11. It is over-used, and often incorrectly used and serves to promote politics of fear.

That said, man caused disasters just sounds goofy.

It has been used incorrectly, which is the thing that should be fixed. When people strap bombs to themselves and blow them up, that's terrorism and should IMO be referred to as such.

Terrorism is a thought or action that instills fear and it's a federal crime, unless you are a news agency.

Disaster is the result of our enemies success.

That's idiotic. Man-made disasters? Give me a freaking break. What a bunch of freaking wusses, I swear to God. We aren't saying "enemy combatants" anymore, now we're going to call terrorism "man made disasters?" Next up we'll be calling Hugo Chavez "Big Pappy" and Hilter the "defender of white rights."

Acts of terrorism are meant to instill fear and TERROR in a population, they should be referred to as such. Flying planes into buildings is a terrorist act. Strapping bombs to oneself is a terrorist act. Beheading innocent westerners while filming the beheading and saying that they will be looking for other westerners to behead and no westerner is safe...IS TERRORISM.

I agree.

They should have been called Surrender Fries.

Observing that according to a recent ES thread (http://www.extremeskins.com/showthread.php?t=280383), the posters in Tailgate seem to have trouble agreeing on exactly what is and isn't terrorism.
