View Full Version : compared to campbell, cutler would be a smart investment.

I look at it like this. Campbell is a cool guy,his teammates like him,I like him. he's a solid game managing QB,and he's young with great physical tools, and doesn't make many mistakes. downsides are that he's not a great pure passer, slow windup throwing motion, and does not force the ball downfield or into spots that he should be ABLE to.
at one point I think campbell can be a good QB under zorns scheme, but I don't think campbell will ever break the barrier between good game managing QB and good franchise QB. he looks like a franchise QB(tall, mobile, rocket arm),but he plays like a game manager basically.
is this a guy you want to give Roethlisburger type money to? 8 years 102 million?maybe more? this is after all what the great JLC says the redskins should do,extend an unproven QB... giving the 100million dollar deal to haynesworth is bright compared to giving that kind of money to a QB who hasn't proven himself.
as for cutler his game speaks for itself. he has a rocket arm,and isn't afraid to use it,quick over the top release, can put great touch on the deep ball. his only fault is turnovers, and when you have a D that's ranked 28th,you're probably going to be pressing harder than normal and forcing things that you wouldn't normally do.
would I trade campbell,13,and a role player or two for him...definately...
do I still think we can win with campbell,?certainly, but campbell will need a better cast at OL. slow releases and sieves for O-lines mix about as well as water and oil.
who would you rather make top 5 paid at their position? Cutler or Campbell?

I'm really wondering that if the Cutler move, who IMO is a franchise QB in the making, is fueled by a potential HC suitor for next season?

I'd say it's fueled by more of a ...
Cutler is already more of a polished passer than JC, and JC has 1 year left. the market dictates that young good QB's get landmark contracts. I'd say the skins are apprehensive about giving JC a huge deal when he hasn't really done anything besides have a few good games. so if they could somehow swing a trade to land cutler including JC,they'd be really happy.
in reality if the skins ever extended campbell after a solid season he'd be in the same ball park as what cutler would probably get. Which is why I could very much see them making a move for another QB. maybe even drafting a QB.
I wouldn't be surprised if they took sanchez. they could say it's to push campbell, but sanchez is more of a downfield style passer than JC is,and more in that mold of a franchise signal caller.

you have to wonder if Snyder and Vinny maybe were not considering this, but glance at ES and see all the talk about it and say. Hey, this guy will sell lots of Jerseys! Vinny, how do we make this happen, kind of thing ;)

people would obviously call it just the redskins being the stupid redskins, and winning at the offseason....
I see reasons for doing it and not doing it,but based off campbells contract, I think he may be traded either this off season or next,so someone else can give him a long term deal.
you know how the skins FO is, overpaying is fine for FA's,but we're scared to overpay our own talent.

I agree with you in your analysis. I'm just wondering if something else is brewing.

Compared to Campbell.....
Randle El has a better appreciation of the position and those around him in what little we've seen of him throwing the ball.

It went right over someone's head and is now making its way into interstellar space. Voyager One and Voyager Two should pick up the signal by later tomorrow.

i am a colt fan and the difference a qb like cutler could make here is off the chart. just watch film on cutler in the pocket.............he scans the feild like the predator lookin for a human skull.........the cost may blow ur mind but the benefits.......haynesworth on d..............cutler on o...............playoffs
