ARLINGTON – Cowboys owner and general manager Jerry Jones said he read Terrell Owens' comments that suggested someone changed Jones' mind about keeping the wide receiver.

Jones, speaking to reporters Saturday afternoon inside the Cowboys new stadium, didn't want to get into specifics about Owens.

"I don't have anything to say, but we have a great relationship," Jones said. "I'm sorry we didn't get this year in on the contract, but I don't have any pointed comment to what he said that there were people within the organization that didn't want him here. I read the substance of [the comments]. Bottom line is I don't really have any comments."

Jones normally speaks with many people in the organization before making a personnel decision.

Jones said he talked to the offensive coaches, scouts and front-office personnel regarding Owens and there was some support to keep the wide receiver, which made the decision to release him harder.

"I know wholeheartedly [Jerry Jones] wanted me there," Owens said in a television interview with Rogers SportsNet that will air Sunday. "There were some people I know who got in his ear that pressured him to make that decision. For that, it's sad. You let two or three people conspire to get me out of the situation."

Owens also said he was blindsided by the move.

Jerry Jones on Terrell Owens: "I don't have anything to say but we have a great relationship,"

Jones said the decision to release Owens was based on giving Roy Williams a chance to flourish as the No. 1 receiving threat and to develop the younger receivers.

"It was one [decision] I hadn't made up until right about the time we announced it," Jones said.

Prime time at home: Jones said the first two regular-season home games at the Cowboys new stadium will be in prime time.

The Cowboys' season opener will be at Denver, according to a source.

I'm guessing Stephen Jones, Witten and Romo.

"I know wholeheartedly [Jerry Jones] wanted me there," Owens said in a television interview with Rogers SportsNet that will air Sunday. "There were some people I know who got in his ear that pressured him to make that decision. For that, it's sad. You let twenty three people conspire to get me out of the situation."

All the offense and half the front office. BTW, I wished you would have stayed TO.

Not sure if anyone posted this or not but this thread looks like the proper place.

Reports: T.O. believes Cowboys 'blindsided' him

The Dallas Cowboys might have moved on from Terrell Owens, but it seems the controversial wide receiver hasn't done the same.

Owens, now with the Buffalo Bills, said he felt "blindsided" by the Cowboys' decision earlier this month to release him, according to reports citing a television interview he did with a Canadian station.

The move surprised many because it came just one season after Dallas gave him a four-year, $34 million extension that included a $12 million bonus.

"You hear all the speculation, and you talk to the owner of the team, and he reassures you, you're not going anywhere and then, out of left field ... you get blindsided," Canada's Globe and Mail reported Owens saying during the interview, to be broadcast this weekend on Rogers Sportsnet.

The interview was set to air Saturday night.

I actually agree with T.O. Jerry Jones hung him out to dry. Ofcourse it was about time somebody threw Owens under the bus. But TO was the pukes biggest asset. Without him Witten and Barber will suffer and lets face it Roy Williams is not that great of a WR. The Cowboys will regret this.

I agree with whomever ran off T.O., Jerry Jones just can't admit the mistake he made signing TO.

You know the difference between Jerry Jones & a sea urchin?

One is a scum-sucking bottom feeder & the other is a fish.

Yea, that was it Jerry. :rolleyes:I dont believe that is the case either. But for all the picks and that big contract they gave him he needs to start producing asap. Will TO just shut the **** up already, your on a new team just move on. Its only a matter of time before your ripping Trent Edwards a new one and are released after this year. Same TO just different day.

I agree that it was ****ty the way he was realsed and kind of side with him but this is a business **** happens. Maybe he should start wondering why teams keep releasing him and maybe its not always the other sides fault and he should look in the mirror, that wont happen though because he loves me some me.

Yeah, I was thinking Garrett, Romo and Phillips, myself. I don't think Witten would have gone to the owner.

Which, if it WAS Phillips and Garrett, would speak volumes about how undermined the head coach is there by Jerruh...
