View Full Version : Any Thoughts On Who The Wizards Take At #38?

We've discussed who the Wizards might take at #10. But they do have a pick in the second round (#38). Despite our Kwame Brown Experience, I'd suggest they look at taking one of the high school players who drop.

In particular, I'd look at Kendrick Perkins out of Texas. He's big (6'10") but carries too much body fat. He's not ready, but then neither is Kwame.

Any thoughts on who we might look at in Round 2?

If we dont snag a PG in round one, we'll go for one in round two. Steve Blake or Troy Bell, perhaps.

(BTW, we have a Wizards forum now. :D )

if troy bell is there, he won't be, we have to take him... he has blown people away in the pre-draft camps and combine...

Bell is now expected to go in the middle of round 1 so I wouldn't count on him being available at #38(I would love for the Lakers to find a way to get him but I know that wont happen). If Bell can play the point well he can be a very good player in the NBA. He's a great shooter and better go to the basket guy than people think. Course I'm biased being a BC fan.

If Steve Blake is available in second round we absolutely have to snag him. Blake is a fierce competitor and I'm sure he will turn some heads in the NBA.

What evidence do you have to suggest that he'll go in the middle of round one? I'm not bashing that suggestion, its just that I havent seen anyone project him into the mid first round. He's a 6'2 SG trying to make the conversion to PG. A great athlete and scorer to be sure, but with such a deep PG crop this year, I think he still has a lot of convincing to do.

Actually it came straight from Bell's mouth. He said that before the latest workouts he was told he was a 2nd round pick and now the scouts tell him mid first round. He might have even said any pick after #10 but I don't remember correctly.

Being a Terp, i love Steve Blake but i just think he is so inconsistent to play at Pro level. He's a turn over waiting to happen.

actually i've seen bell's stock somewhere between high 20's low 30's. but other interesting names that would be there in the second round are, walton sf az, great passer, and a good versatile shooter, that would give us depth if we choose to pick a pg, in the 1st. kedrick perkins, and james lang are both h.s. kids but have enormous potential. should the wiz do this and keep and develope these players they would have a scary front court in 3 years. mario austin pf miss st, yeah we don't need a pf but he is a great talent.

I think Blake would be a great second round pick. Good size for a PG, good shooting range. The only downside I see is that it would somewhat marginalize Juan Dixon's role. You can't play the two of them in the same backcourt (in the NBA...in college, that backcourt probably could have won some games). Juan is just too small to defend the 2.
