Who is your favorite contributor to the Redskin team that isn't one of the "stars". Also explain why.
It can be someone that you just want to root for or it can be an underrated contributor.
Fun thread to get some names that are not often mentioned out for discussion

james thrash. i know, every year folks question why he's still on the team. he's not a great or even very good wr, but he's worked his tail off at the little things to stay in the league for so long. i also believe his influence in the locker room is vastly overrated. we should've never let him hiatus in philthy for those couple of seasons...

good thread btw

Gonna have to go with Todd Yoder

i just love rooting for him and i think his contributions as a tight end and a teammate are really overlooked cause he doesn't score touchdowns

Lorenzo Alexander is really high on my list ever since the preseason game where with no helmet he knowingly went into head to helmet contact. You can't teach heart like that.

Runner ups would be Renaldo Wynn (really cool how he came to ES even if it was mainly to pimp his car show), Ethan Albright, and James Thrash.

Thank you
I love James Thrash because he is a consummate pro. He is also a spectacular gunner on the punt team.

Red Snapper. Because he's a beast in Madden.

Long time lurker, recently registered.....first post, hi.
I've got to give some love to my boy Rock Cartwright. He's been with us, and only us for quite a while now and has been in the shadow of CP since his trade...maybe rightfully so.. but still no reason to downplay his talent. He's big, doesn't shy away from contact, is a good down hill runner and I think he's got pretty daggon good acceleration (and to the lovers of the late picks, he was a 7th round pickup). Hell I'm pretty sure he ran for over 2 grand in his senior year of college, pretty impressive. Even with bringing CP in he kept things going and has been great for us on special teams. I also wanna say that he broke some sort of kick off return record for us uhhhh in 2007? Too lazy to double check that but yeah.. Rock Cartwright may you stay in the B&G for the rest of your professional career. Appreciated.

yoder or khary campbell. yoder is a decent TE who scores a TD here and there and helps block in teh run game.

and campbell is a great backup LB and a special teams dude. and weve counted on him before and hes come through.

Khary Campbell (spelling?) he has always been a solid on special teams and hustles to make plays whenever he can.

Thrash - he does what he's asked to do, period. He even tries to do what he cannot do, i.e catch a post pattern. Lol! Don't deny it people, I know you hate to see Thrash go long as much as I do. :)

Pretty sure that your spelling is correct. I love the fact that he isn't afraid to give a big hit on special teams, returners have their head on a swivel when he is around.

Khary Campbell. He has been a great talent for us on ST. And a good back-up at linebacker. He has great heart and plays with a lot of intensity. Love the way he plays the game.

I have to say that the one player that always made me excited to see in the game was Chris Wilson. He was hurt last year, but as a rookie he made things happen as an edge rusher. I also loved the energy he brought to the defense.

Rock Cartwright and Ethan Albright. Hopefully Khary Campbell will be back but it's not looking good

Reed Doughty. Yeah I'm crazy but I like the way he hits. I remember playing in NO when Reggie Bush was a rookie. We kicked off in the second half and Doughty just hammered him. Plus I found out the guy is practicly deaf. Rock and Thrash are up there too.

No one else picking Lorenzo Alexander? Gotta admit, I'm surprised. Plays OL, DL, and special teams.

Gotta go with Rock, for the same reasons Farbod21 and Old Dominion (btw, as a fellow newbie, I'd like to say welcome to Extremeskins) have posted.

And that's why he has gotten so much better."

Fred Smoot...I don't consider a Nickle Back a STAR of the team...so I can call him a great role player. I love his attitude.

Gonna have to agree with that. Doughty my not be the best but you can tell he gives his all on every play.

NICK GIAQUINTO!!!

Oh wait, that was before some in here were even born....

Currently, if Mike Sellers counts, he's got my vote. I like it whenever he gets the ball. Or hits somebody.

On this current team it's Thrash. Class all the way and busts his but on every play practice or game.

Old school was Stu O'Dell who played ST and behind Chris Hanburger wearing #57. He and Dallas Hickman #82 who was a ST Captain lived behind me when I was growing up in Vienna. Those guys but especially Stu looked out for us kids and even played ball with us as did his Irish Setter "Kidd".

Thrash gets my vote. He's a great special team-er and gets the job done when asked on offense. Honorable mention goes to Rock Cartwright, dude puts us in great field position most of the time.....very underrated

Ethan Albright, last season we saw in the league what happens when the LS goes down.
I never saw our red snapper make a mistake, we should keep him until he can't snap any more.
If he goes down.......who is his replacement? Cooley?

Lorenzo Alexander, the tackle with no helmet sold me on him. Monte. I think he will pan out. Yoder, he's not bad.The TD against the Bears always sticks out ( Todd to Todd in 07 ) speaking of 07 Reed Doughty steps up,and was a big influence on Horton.

I'm going to have to go with Red Beard himself. I mean really, could the Redskins have a cool and better player in Madden then Ethan Albright?

Give me Reed Doughty. Doesn't have all the physical ability in the world, but he gives you everything he has when he's in the game, no matter whether it's on special teams or on the defense.
