View Full Version : "Tommy Breaux Continues to Impress"
leprecaun24
May-3rd-2009, 12:58 PM
Has anyone heard of this kid? Undrafted, out of Towson.
6'7 - 203 lbs.
Redskins.com mentioned him in an article, http://www.redskins.com/gen/articles/Mini_Camp_Practice_Report__Sunday__May_3_34959.jsp
"Jason Campbell tossed a sideline pass to tryout rookie Thomas Breaux, who continues to impress in mini-camp despite his lanky frame. Breaux found an opening in coverage along the left sideline."
Patriots insider said he is a Randy Moss "Style" receiver. He seems like if he bulked he could do some damage with that height of his.

Maybe to them it's not a joke.
Perhaps those believe if they say "championship" enough times, it will happen.

I like reading about new people impressing the coaches. It doesn't mean they will make the team or make any type of impact, but every once in a while a player comes out of no where to make the team and make an impact.
Will it be this guy? I doubt it, but is still nice to read and hear about longshot players.

SkinsAllDay34
May-3rd-2009, 01:18 PM
If you look him up he is a Basketball player
Also running a 4.5 forty is not bad at all at his height. He is lanky though, but look at Randy Moss, he is very lanky and still gets it done.

There is another thread about him earlier about his whole background and that he was a two-way athlete at Towson (football and basketball)...6-7 runs in 4.4 to 4.5 range and can hang on the top of a backboard.

Good article and gives all his measurements at his proday. It says he ran the 40 in under 4.5 on one of his runs (4.47)
In another article they describe as super athletic.

Very short posts that do not add value to the topic.
I would think a post of "Championship" adds no value at all to the fact this kid is impressing coaches. In fact...all you are adding to this thread is ridiculous sarcasm. So maybe next time you open a thread, you can actually add some value to your post...or maybe...not open it at all?
Anyways...
As for this guy actually making the team, i highly doubt it. But maybe he can be added to the practice squad? With his height, and his age, one would think he would have some pounds to add onto his frame. If the kid has handles, I'd say we definitely give him an extended look.

I really hope that the Redskins will put politics aside this season (ie: the round a guy was drafted in, how much he's being paid, etc.) and PLAY the BEST players. Hey if Malcolm Kelly is hurt, if Jason Campbell plays very average at the QB position, and if Randal El cannot get open and cannot return punts any better than a guy off the street, THESE PLAYERS SHOULD BE BENCHED, in favor of "no-name" guys who are impressing the coaches IN PRACTICE. I am sooooo tired of the words HOPE and POTENTIAL....after a while of average results they become words to LOSE games by. If some of you are content with average results, etc. I hear that the Lions are looking to attract fans....

Tommy Breaux must get confused a lot.
Whenever he's around a group of people, and someone walks up to someone else, and says, "What's up, Bro ?"....Tommy Breaux is like, "Huh ? you talkin to me ???"

Agreed. And if any of our draft picks (tryon) arent showing any potential, they should be CUT. Not make the roster just because we were stupid enough to spend a pick on them

Reserve wide receiver who will see action in certain situations ... two-sport athlete who also plays for Tiger basketball team ... made great strides in the Spring ... caught one pass in the Spring Game ... has tremendous potential ... should also see action on special teams ... transfer from Blinn Junior College where he played football and basketball ... tallest football player ever to play for the Tigers at 6-9 ... tremendous reach will make him a great target in the passing game.

STRETCH IT OUT
Stats in college were
Not Stats, but a Scouting Report
http://sportsillustrated.cnn.com/football/2009/draft/players/69165.html
BIOGRAPHY: Junior-college transfer who started five games last season and posted 35/514/6 with a 14.7 yard average per reception. Junior numbers included 11/166 with a 15.1 yards average per catch.
POSITIVES: King-sized wideout with solid physical skills. Deceptively fast, shows good acceleration once he gets going, and catches the ball with good eye/hand coordination. Comes back into the clearing to make himself an available target, takes a pounding yet holds onto the throw.
NEGATIVES: Not a natural hand catcher, lets the pass get inside him, and does not play with good balance. Lacks a sense of timing, and is a poor route runner.
ANALYSIS: Breaux offers enticing size and deceptive speed. He's a solid athlete, yet a very raw football player at this point, and a prospect who will need a season or two on a practice squad to develop his skills.
PROJECTION: Free Agent

Lol, Tyron can not even reach this guys helmet wenn he jumps.
Hopefully we can keep him on the practise squad, because a lot of teams could be interested in a guy with this size and potential.
And he is the first WR that can't be over trown by Jason Campbell, Jason can just fire a straight bullet and Breaux can catch it around his chest/face. Not like Santana who then needs to jump to get does bullets from Jason.
