Anybody got anything on how the Sproles clone we signed from Denver looked this weekend?

I heard Anthony Alridge was in the mix at fielding returns, and showed a burst as expected in drills. I think I read that one of the observers was impressed with his cutback ability. You can't tell much from mini-camp though. Let's see what happens when they put on the pads.

No, we signed a guy who was with Denver last year and is supposed to be a Sproles clone. Or maybe he's from Canada? I'm almost certain he was with Denver last year and that Shanahan recommended him to us.

How about the Canadian? Dorsey?

I don't care who he is. As longs as you can supplant Ladell Betts then I'm happy. Betts should not feel so comfortable on this team because I can find a younger back who can do what he does, if not better, and can pass block just as good (which isn't very good at all).

Dorsey isn't Candian.....he only played in CFL last season.

I read somewere that someone was impressed by him.....
Edit:
From http://www.hogshaven.com/
Another player that stood out was Domnique Dorsey, the RB the Redskins signed from the CFL. He showed great hands and in multiple plays showed a stellar burst through the secondary. Sellers and Rock also were showing good hands in the bad weather.

A. Who the hell are you talking about?
B. How the hell would anyone know?

Easy...

A. Anthony Alridge. The only RB we signed from Denver this offseason.

B. Because there have been countless reports from observations from mini-camp this weekend.

I haven't read anything specifically, but I am excited about this kid. I think he can give us a much needed spark in the backfield.

I like Aldridge. he did well in preseason last year before getting injured and put on IR. I read that he made an impressive run during mini camp, breaking it to the second level by juking the initial tackler. That was it though, one little snippet about one little play.

I really like Aldridge and hope he makes the active roster. I like him more then Mason really. Havent heard much about Dorsey.

And those mean a lot.

Here's how I would file minicamp reports.

"All Redskin players remained upright today. No one fell down while running against a stiff breeze. No player appeared to have lost control of his bowels at any point, though Chris Cooley did spend 45 minutes in a nearby port-a-potty. Later, Cooley said he 'had to see a man about a dog.' "

With the weakness in the o-line and the definite need to have a change of pace back, it sucks that we may enter this year without Rock AND/or Betts. I will be mortified if we simply cut either without getting anything in return. Now is the time to make a move like that before our hand is shown, which it pretty much already is.

There just simply isn't room for both those guys. One unfortunately has to go unless these guys we brought in just absolutely show nothing at all.

Doesn't matter how YOU view the reports, the OP asked a question and you stated "How the hell would anyone know". There are various outlets and sources for mini-camp information including player peformances. If you chose to not take them seriously, then thats fine. No need to be a :jerk:

It was listed that Alridge and Dorsey were impressive and showed flashes of Sproles type back in our mini camp out. It was talk about all of the the backs and had no mentioned of Rock or Mason, other than being listed. I would be surprised if they made the team and Rock and Mason were left out.

If we get rid of Rock I will be seriously ticked off. I could see Betts getting cut but Rock does so many things. He's a good KR and ST player. Plus I think he's underrated at RB. We have to keep Rock.

He's mediocre at best! I think you mean overrated at RB, his time with the skins needs to end! We need backs that can take kick-offs to the house and ones that can actually read holes instead of running into the backs of there linemen!

I disagree. He's not flashy at KR but he has had some great returns. Last year he took one back to the other teams 30. He ussually gets us decent field position. He broke B-Mitch's record for return yards in 07 I think. He's not flashy but the guy is solid. I think its a mistake to let him go.

I saw some reports that said Aldridge was extremely quick on getting gatorade for Mr. Betts.

Great awareness, fast response....and no spillage.

Dorsey is having a little more difficult time learning how to cut orange slices for Mr. Betts at halftime. But it is too early to judge him just yet. Most rookies need a few years.

I asked Danny Smith this last year and he said having field position starting CONSISTANTLY past the 30 is exactly what he wants.

While taking it to the house is huge. The max you can do that in a season is anywhere from 2-4 times a year. Desean Jackson took a PR against us last year and we still won.

Field of position is more impt than 14 points over the course of a season.

Betts hasn't been the same for a while. Rock Cartwright has shown no signs of slowing down. Dorsey for PR, Cartwright for KR.

Aldrige and Dorsey will be competing to find a spot on the roster as KR/scat back types. They will have a tough time taking Rock's space because he is a good kick returner and a stand out special teams guy. Mason won't make the roster--he is NOT the "change of pace" guy that a lot of ES folks want him to be. He runs a 4.7. I liked him last preseason, but he's not what we are looking for. It will be interesting to see how many RB's they carry on the roster, because Dorsey or Aldridge will have to really show themselves to take the 2nd RB spot from Betts flat out.
