In your opinion, are caricatures like "Bruno" going to harm the gay community, or these depictions have a positive effect? No effect at all?

By the way, a link to the trailer:

Good answer. We need to keep this discussion on point.

Good. I thought you were going to explain to me why I should :)

Good. I thought you were going to explain to me why I should :) Hell no. I'm going to be very dissapointed if any real intellectual discussion breaks out here.

Its a comedic approach.

It won't do any damage. I could see it opening up tolerance in the most extreme cases, but unlikely.

I hope there is no effect, but I am sure some idiots will think all homosexuals act in a flamboyant manner.

I've seen the poll and I've read it. I've placed my vote, closest to my opinion. I am offended that there wasn't another choice in the poll. If that would've been a choice, I'd have picked...

Colt Brennan.

I think it's funny- if someone is offended- get over it.

I think it could only help. Sacha Baron Cohen is hysterical, because everything is fair game in his comedy. He offends everyone equally. It's beautiful. lol

My wife's reaction to the trailer was, "Didn't Ben Stiller already do this in Zoolander?"

I don't expect this movie to have nearly the reaction that Borat did. I think over the long term, Borat is looking to be overrated.

An intellectual discussion whether a movie like Bruno will help or hurt that gay community? You are asking a bit much. Not to be a dick, but why would anyone think that???

Sacha Baron Cohen is overrated and needs to go away. And I say that as someone who owns Borat. He gets old fast. As for the movie, I doubt it will change much, I think most people are going into it to be entertained, and probably have firm views on homosexuals already. I doubt a slapstick movie is going to change anyone's opinion one way or another.

As I said, no intellectual discussion is a good thing. I'm sure someone could argue that it'll reinforces gay stereotypes, etc., or make a mockery of homosexuality, or that it'll establish new gay stereotypes.

But not here.

I watched part of Borat on USA last weekend and I have to say it still had me LOL 3 years later.

Just my guess from seeing the trailer: Bruno The Slappy Euro is more of the funnay (sic) focus than Bruno the 'Mo.
