There has been a lot of talk lately about Roger Clemens making the all-star roster. What a shame. There are dozens of players much more deserving of this accolade than the rocket (Pedro, Mussina!?!). If you look at stats you might think Roger is maybe the fourth best pitcher on his team, behind Mussina (10-5; 3.14), Wells (11-3; 3.76), and Pettite (10-6; 4.51)... yet he is being given all-star consideration.
Sidney Ponson is quietly having a great year... and garnering a lot of trade interest too. His numbers are solid, especially considering he is playing on a team devoid of superstars or game-breakers (unless you consider Mora a superstar...?). He doesn't have $150million dollars worth of talent to back him up every game, yet he has a 12-4 record, 4 complete games, 3.64 ERA, almost a 3:1 K/BB ratio...
