Probably nothing.
He wasn't expected to be a starter, pretty much no matter where he signed.
A guy doesn't take 2 years off, and just step in as starter.
Plus McNabb is still their man. No indication the team gave up on him. And he led them to the NFC Championship.
Vick is probably insurance, or the future, after McNabb leaves.

Report: Eagles sign Vick to two-year deal
ESPN.com's Chris Mortensen reports the Eagles have signed Michael Vick to a two-year contract. Vick's agent has confirmed the deal.
Despite their training camp injuries, the Eagles are gunning for a Super Bowl title this season. ESPN's Jon Gruden suggested that they see Vick as a "missing piece," with offensive guru Andy Reid finding creative ways to utilize his talent. The Dungy/Vick team placed a high priority on stability, and the Joe Banner/Tom Heckert/Reid trio provide plenty of ballast. Vick is no threat to Donovan McNabb's starting job, but he is likely to take over the No. 2 reins from Kevin Kolb. Aug. 13 - 8:35 pm et

Vick, Eagles agree to 2-year deal
Quarterback Michael Vick has signed a two-year deal with the Philadelphia Eagles, his agent, Joel Segal, confirmed to ESPN.com.
Vick arrived in Philadelphia Tuesday morning and remained there Wednesday evening. The Eagles will hold a news conference on Friday morning to announce his signing.
Vick was the No. 1 draft pick in 2001, and once the highest-paid player in football. But he has not played since 2006 when his career came tumbling down. He was convicted in August 2007 of conspiracy and running a dogfighting operation, sentenced to 23 months in federal prison and suspended indefinitely by the NFL.
But after serving his time and being released from home confinement July 20, NFL commissioner Roger Goodell conditionally lifted Vick's suspension, allowing him to sign with a team.
Vick can immediately take part in preseason practices, workouts and meetings and can play in the final two preseason games.
Once the season begins, Vick may participate in all team activities except games, and Goodell said he would consider Vick for full reinstatement by Week 6 (Oct. 18-19) at the latest.
Vick filed for bankruptcy protection last July, listing assets of about $16 million and debts of more than $20 million.
The Eagles travel to meet Vick's former team, the Atlanta Falcons, in Week 13 on Dec. 6.

It'll be fun to watch/listen to Andy Reid answer questions about Vick every day for the next two months.
The 2009 Eagles remind me in many ways of the 2008 Cowboys. Major national media circus, incredibly high expectations and widely touted as a surefire superbowl contender. Meanwhile, they they've lost key players from injury and their offensive line will have a total of 0 reps together before the season starts - especially noteworthy when two players are playing new positions and a third is coming to a new team and reported out of shape. Absurdly high expectations can be evidenced by the proclamations that Maclin will make an immediate impact when a) rookie receivers rarely do, b) he's coming from a spread offense, one almost entirely opposite of the type of pro offense the Eagles run and c) he held out and missed significant time in camp. Fans were expecting 5th round pick Cornelius Ingram to make a big impact on offense, expect LeSean McCoy to be an exact replicate of all-pro Brian Westbrook, and expect no drop off from losing Dawkins, Bradley, etc. Not to mention, the team's genius defensive coordinator tragically passed and the defense not only has to recover emotionally, but must learn a new scheme and be lead by a less ideal coach and gameplanner. No matter how much Sean McDermott thinks he can do what Johnson did, he's not Jim Johnson and he'll have a lot of on-the-job learning to do, as any new coordinator or head coach faces. Naturally, fans and media expect a seamless transition.
Vick will be a major distraction, both inside the lockerroom and in the coaches offices. He becomes the big story for the next month instead of contending for the division crown. If Vick isn't everything that he's cracked up to be, way too many hours of coaches' gameplanning time will be wasted, as will practice time implementing Vick into the system. How will this effect McNabb's fragile psyche? If McNabb starts the season poorly, will the lockerroom pull for Vick to start? Donovan likes being The Man in Philly - how will he like taking the backburner to his backup? And Vick was never a great passer - if he's lost some of his athleticism (which is probable, given two years out of the game, two years without NFL conditioning and two years without a proper diet), isn't he just merely another good athlete in a league in which everyone's a good athlete?
But naturally, Vick is just the weapon to put the Eagles "over the edge." Frankly, I'm ecstatic that we won't have this distraction in our camp

I'm not saying that. He won't see the field for 4-6 games, and if he does it will be in a position he's not accustomed to. He's not going to oust McNabb. I thought the fans were high on Kevin Kolb, anyway.

I'm not saying that. He won't see the field for 4-6 games, and if he does it will be in a position he's not accustomed to. He's not going to oust McNabb. I thought the fans were high on Kevin Kolb, anyway.
I didn't say you did :silly:
I was reading from my phone and as soon as the signing happened that was the initial reaction that I saw.
There's no way he starts at QB any time this year for that team, and that's in their best interest. He's a hell of an athlete and if used properly (outside the QB position), I think he'll be a deadly addition.

Pretty shocked with the move. I never thought he'd end up in the NFC East.

Hey, maybe if you say it louder and use more exclamation points, it will be true.
Oh wait.

What's the over/under on the number of protesters that get beaten up by Philthy fans during their home games?

This guy is probably going to torment us for years to come. He never had talent around him in Atlanta...he will in Philly. Once McNabb is gone the team will be his.

The NFC east is where all the superstars end up. This division is heads and tales above the rest of the league.

Sorry. I just get more than a little sick of the ultra-skepticism around here. I was proving a point by obviously overreacting. Everyone jumping on the OP's back and "calling BS" was a huge overreaction. If there weren't sources strong enough for the skeptics, why not just say, "I will wait for a good source"...and not be such a ********...and make yourself look retarded when you're wrong?

As long as he isn't a Redskin, I don't give a ****.
Has being a Redskin fan taught you people nothing about these sorts of signings? Trust me, his on-field impact will be minimal.

I do understand the frustration. I mentioned in this thread that there were 4 different posters who saw the same report, and people still wanted raise the B.S. flag.
As for the topic at hand,I'm looking forward to some of the drama that his could easily cause up there.

Why does he have to go to a Divisional opponent?
We got bigger fish to fry than worry about Vick -- didn't get to see the game tonight, but our numbers look fugly.

At running - your correct, Vick is probably the best running QB to ever play in the NFL. At throwing the football and running an offense based on reading a defense, getting the ball out of your hand quickly and on time - no he is not better than what we have under centre.
P¨laying Vick at QB would have meant junking our current passing offense and putting in a new system based around Vicks strengths.
For me the same applies with the Eagles - I dont get this unless they just see him as a change of pace, wildcat type player who can also throw an option pass.

It makes sense. That fan base is made up of unabashedly terrible people. They will not give a flying F about the dog thing.
Unfortunately, I dont think he will create too much drama up there, so I have no other choice but to believe this will either be very bad for the redskins or it will have no impact. I dont see a scenario where we benefit from this.

How about a pissed off McNabb - the same guy who got all huffy about Garcia taking the Eagles to the playoffs when he was hurt. Reports are he is unhppy about the signing and if he has a bad game or two and people start talking about Vick starting then he might throw his toys out of the pram.
Add in the media circus and its a distraction and one that I dont think is worth it for 7 or 8 snaps of gadget plays a game.

All I want to know is if the Eagles play the Browns, whose job is it to keep Vick out of the Dawg Pound?
Philly can have him. I think they're the only team that could tolerate someone like Vick.

Vick goes to Philly and ESPN thinks it is a great move...
If Vick were to end up here I am sure it would be fuel for ESPN and others to bash Snyder and bury him.
I'm not sure where Philly built up such goodwill, especially with Reid's personal problems.
