This thread is for those who are ready to abondon the season after the first preseason game.....(And bear in mind we started the regular season with a 6-2 record after this game, and a after week 4 blowout loss to Jacksonville)

Yeah, that's true... look how great last season ended up being...
I'm not taking any stock in the preseason, but this is a bad example of why not to worry...

I see your point. After this game everyone thought we would be horrible. We got out to a 6-2 start before things fell apart at the end. So one preseason game doesn't make a season!

I don't like us not getting game experience with the plays we will actually run.
I think we should be worried about getting acclimated to the speed of the game but not in stuff we won't be in. I think we should have been practicing bread and butter plays like the Ravens did.

This game was mostly about the young guys and seeing where they are. What we can get from it is that many of our young guys aren't ready for prime time and a lot of them will be looking for jobs after the preseason.

Well, when we got blown out in preseason, it was the apocalypse... then we beat the Eagles and the Cowboys and Jim Zorn was coach of the year and Campbell was MVP... then we ended up 8-8

While I agree with your main premise, the example you use is bad.
The skins finished 8-8, no playoffs last year. I will be upset if that happens again this season.

naw bro., this was week 3 where the starters typically play the majority of the game.

the team couldn't score last year and they still can't score. seems like Zorn has them playing consistantly to me.

There actually were threads during the first 8 weeks of the season about the inability to score points, and they were met by the expected barrage of "SHUT UP A WIN IS A WIN" posts.

gotta love this. when we destroy the 4-12 cleveland browns with a juggernaut offensive explosion of 14 points at home, a W is a W, so no one wants to talk about how bad our passing game looked.
youre right though, eeking out wins against bottom of the barrel teams get met with the "youre a hater, why cant you enjoy a win??" posts.

Thats besides the point....The point is that we did start the season 6-2. Sure we weren't perfect, but it wasn't a fluke either. The Oline was healthy and because of that JC and CP benefited directly from that. Once injuries started to hit, you saw what happened to the production of the offense. I'm not saying that we were/are perfect. All i'm saying is that we need to hold off condemnation, at least, until the season. The preseason is no indicator of how the team will do in the long haul of the season.

I agree, however, the way we lost to Carolina and Jacksonville, the general reaction was that we couldn't beat the Little Sisters of the Poor, let alone the Browns or the Lions. You feel me?

Ugghhh, I was at that game last year. Man was it miserable, even for preseason.
