I was wondering if anyone knew about this? i'm buying a new car and the dealer is trying to get me to buy this for an additional 499$

10 year outside warranty and 5 year inside warranty?

it supposedly protects the leather/ external color of the car ??

anyone know if this is just a way dealers make money or is this worth it for 500.00

It's likely an extra way to squeeze an additional $500 out of you.

As cars come from the factory, they are painted with a high quality paint that includes a good clear coat. When I bought my new car a year ago, I opted out of that "paint protection".

While my particular field of expertise is more in the service and repair industry this sounds similar to an extended or aftermarket warranty. In most cases, the seller will end up on top and the buyer won't ever use the extra expense.

Not familiar with that brand, but not a fan of protector coating warranty deals in general

Never seen one pay off yet.

Its a gimmick, just like undercoating.. you dont need that unless you live on the ocean where salt water/air can ruin a cars finish and the parts under it.

Total gimmick.

in fact i would tell them you thought it came with that and they need to throw it in or youre walking. Oh and those accessories too, you want those....or a prepaid maintenance plan, or extended warranty...something. Last minute nerves, the only way to calm them is with some icing on the cake. Make it happen or I walk.

Seriously.

I would make them pay for f'ng with me. Especially considering dealers are desperate right now (ESPECIALLY if youre buying an 09 model).

I got two dealerships in a bidding war for my buy. it worked like a charm. each one would go lower and i would take the offer to the other until one yelled at me for wasting his time and i gave him the old eff you and called the other one and said i am about to buy the car at this dealership, dude freaked out knocked some $$ off then i went to the other dealership complained that it wasn't the color i wanted and got some more $$ knocked off:evilg:

according to truecar i got one of the best deals possible so i am a happy camper

and yeah i decided against the cilajet ... the warranty i read was really b/s and can easily be voided for the dumbest crap.

but i got some nice perks last minute and a great finance rate :D
