View Full Version : Drew Carter's thoughts: ST, Skins, and more

So I was in South Beach last weekend and hung out with Drew Carter. Yes the guy who got stopped in 2006 by Sean Taylor on 4th to seal the win for us, even though we went 5-11.

Drew said every WR in the NFL was scared of ST. They all had a consensus that he would have been the best defensive player to ever play the game. He spoke to many WR's in the league and they all said, never go near him. Man I mss him.

He said, the problem with the Redskins is Dan Snyder, but not him in specific, but his loyalty to Cerrato. He said, they won't win, because they can't build a team to win, but he knows how to build a team fans get excited about.

I would share his thoughts on JC, but I am tired of all the back and forth on him, that I rather let his play speak for himself.

Just thought I would pass the info I got.

Oh yea, he did say Danny Smith is one of the best coaches in the league at what he does.

I agree with Danny Smith. Our coverage units are awesome! The skill in our ST is what sucks.

I am not impressed with the blocking on Special Teams. So many times the coverage is on top of the returner before they can move.

Man, you're good. Even when a comment isn't made, you make it for them.

A good comment would bring "Yeah, sure. Talk is cheap, let's see it on the field." A negative comment would just spawn more negative comments. It's very predictable that you and wvtbred were quick to post.

Cool to hear from other players around the NFL about how they feel about our team.

Thanks for sharing!

I still can't believe ST is gone. I know some people are tired of hearing others long for the days when ST was roaming around in the secondary, but I can't believe he's gone. I don't care if he overpursued or was too aggressive at times. The man was the most exciting defensive player I've ever seen.

agree. Every play you would just be waiting for Sean to smoke somebody. like when your favorite baseball player steps up to bat. We haven't had somebody that exciting since. Hopefully this year will be different with haynesworth and rak.

so the guy gives his opinion on campbell yet the OP wont say what it was. you can infer two things:

the comment was bad and he doesnt want to stir the pot anymore on the board because its just more fuel for the fire, and even more damning coming from an actual NFL player.

or

the comment was good and the OP is hiding it for some unknown reason.

I agree with that too. Even when our d was bad it was still fun to watch because of him. Our d should be great this year but it just won't be as exciting without 21.

Joe T. also spurned the Dolphins in '72 to go to Canada, and Griese went down in the playoffs, leaving them to get Earl Morrall instead of Joe T., so maybe not so bright after all.

drew carter signed with the raiders as a FA

who have al davis as an owner. I honestly can't respect the man's opinion on a damn thing.

and before someone says D.hall was a raider, Hall didn't want to be a raider at first. Davis had to badger him into going there and being "happy"

I really like and respect TJ, he had played the game well and is on one of the best NFL shows around. I didn't hear Key, Ditka, CC or Boomer disagree either when he said it, they all just nodded and acknowledged it as if to say "well there is that".

This is a great thread. You have half the people arguing over Campbell and the other half in tears over ST. Everyone is missing the point. Somehow the OP was able to pull a wheres waldo and spot Drew Carter! Not only that but he spun sean taylor into the conversation with Mr. Carter. Bravo! Couldn't have done it better myself.

What needs to be spared is you lame ass attempts to turn any topic even mentioning the word "Campbell" and using it to berate the guy. Its really sad that you have no other outlet to spend some time with, because you need a serious reflection about your life. It has to have some other meaning than attacking Jason Campbell.
Why dont you trot on over to the tailgate and interject negative "Campbell" comments in a soup recipe thread?
If you cant control yourself and stick to thread topics, maybeyou should not post for a while. Take a break.

To wvtbred... same goes to you.

As to the OP. I miss ST too. Guy was a sure fire legend in the making. I loved watching him play.

with their oline, their dline, adrian peterson, and their solid WR core now with percy harvin, theyre gonna do well.

now if favre is still injured and cant throw, thats another thing, but i dont think the vikings would have signed him if he was showing signs of sucking.

I think Brad Childress made a panic move.

And Favre is always healthy now. But as the season goes on...

Plus, this is a guy who just three weeks ago said he didn't think he could mentally and physically make it through a 16 game season.

At this point, I wouldn't be surprised to see him retire again in a week.

the guy just wanted to skip training camp. and he knows that an extra three weeks of practice will probably put some extra unneeded strain on his arm.

hey, he put jason campbell in the thread title. if he didnt wanna mention campbell, then edit the thread title.

He didn't give any indication one way or the other what the comments were about JC, but that didn't stop you or wvtbred from jumping to conclusions and running with it in this thread.

Park City Skins warned everyone just yesterday to stop hijacking threads with this crap. How quickly we apparently forget.

On topic: That's really cool what Drew Carter, former WR with the Rams, among other teams, had a decent season or two, had to say about Sean Taylor. Made me miss him even more.

I don't really care what he had to say about Snyder and Cerrato, since he's a player and not a FO guy.

I would have liked to see what the comments on JC were, but this thread would have been hijacked even more than it has been, regardless of what Drew said. And that's just plain sad.

I really liked what he to say about Taylor also because he was a WR that had to go up against him, and he knows other players sentiments towards Sean. Really nice to remember Sean as that dominating player again. So thanks for positin OP.
