The Greatest Madden Finish....EVER.

This is just a quick story of a Ranked game I just finished and I had to share.

I always play as the Redskins and I was playing this dude who was the Eagles.

It was one of those games where you know your better than this dude, hes just getting everything his way. I was actually really frustrated all game because I had thrown 3 interceptions with Campbell, and I never throw INT's. Its the 4th quarter with 2:04 left..hes winning 19-6. He had just scored the touchdown and went for two points and failed.

He kicks the ball off to me and I have a nice drive doing quick outs and working the sidelines. Ultimately, I throw a touchdown pass on a screen pass to Portis. I go for two point conversion and fail. The score is now 13-19 with 1:05 left in the 4th quarter and I have 1 Timeout.

I choose onside kick. Suisham kicks it and the ball bounces off his return teams hands and bounces into my players hands and I freak out! I now am back on offense down by 6 with a little over a minute left on my own 40 yard line. I continue to do quick passes in the flat to Moss, working the sidelines. With 20 seconds left and no timeouts I complete a pass over the middle of the field to Randle El who is tackled at the 10 yard line. I go in hurry up as I watch the clock tick down. By the time I hike the ball the game clock had expired, meaning this was the last play. I complete a pass to cooley in the endzone, kick the extra point and win 20-19.

It was amazing.

I was playing a ranked game against a guy that was the Cowboys. I had tied it up at 14 with a little under 2 minutes to go. He attempts a 52yd FG to win the game with Folk. For some reason I decide to do a punt block, so ARE was back deep. Well he kicks the FG and it falls just short and ARE catches the ball. I'm freakin out cuz that's never happened before. So i start running it back when a huge hole opens up down the sideline and I take it all the way for a TD and win!!! It was awesome!!!

Had to put this here instead of starting a new thread.

Was playing some guy that had the Steelers. My offense struggled most of the game, but the defense was great (99 yards of offense given up whole game). I turned the ball over deep in my own territory, which led to their scoring. It was 12-0 starting the 4th. I had the ball at my own 23 yard line, and I ran my favorite play, a screen to Moss, and he took it the distance. Kick the extra point, 12-7. I hold them, and get it back. I get one first down, and with 2:57 left, I had to punt. I didn't want to, but I was at the 37 and didn't want to try a field goal because I know Suisham wouldn't have made it. And having all three time outs left made it an easier decision. Well, I punt, and this idiot lol backs INTO THE END ZONE to catch the punt. I had Smoot, popped Logan, he fumbled, Tryon was there for the recovery in the end zone, I go for two, get it, and win it 15-12. Lmao. What a game.

Online last night, Skins vs. Pats. 4th Quarter up 14-9. He goes for it on 4th down and we hold them. 1:15 left. 1st and 10 on our 15. He has 2 timeouts left. Skins go 3 and out and are forced to punt. On second down, Randy Moss out jumps Deangelo Hall on a 44 yard go route to score with 27 sec. left. I;m thinking here we go again. He goes for 2 and doesn't get it. Skins down 15-14 but 3 timeouts left. 1st down, incomplete pass. 2nd down, with 7 sec left, Campbell hits Santana Moss on a streak for 73 yards to win the game as the clock strikes 0. I was stoked!!!! Skins win 21-15.

Haha. I HATE the 9 routes on Madden; they never work. But a play that I LOVEEEE on there and works 80% of the time for me and gets at least 15 yards ever time is the shotgun normal doubles flanker screen. You HAVE to be patient with it though. Wait at least 2 seconds before you throw it and MAKE SURE the corner isn't covering the flats.

You're right about the timing. If it's the play I'm thinking of, look to the left first to see if the slot is open on the out route. By then you should see if it's man or zone, and if the corner is being blocked on the right.

I had a game where I was getting nowhere offensively, but in the end won because of my D and my special teams. At half time, he was going for a field goal and made it. Too bad it got called back for holding and he had to do it again. He missed on the second attempt. I wound up winning the game by 3 points. 57 yard field goal by Mason Crosby was the winning score. I think the final score was 20 to 17. I had one TD drive in the 3rd or 4th quarter, returned a fumble for a 70 yard touchdown with Aaron Kampman, and two long field goals that I got into position for because of my defense.

In the end, I had less than 90 yards of offense, and the other guy had over 250 yards. I made things happen only when it mattered.

That play probably would work on me quite as well as other random people. I like to mix up my coverage. I do a lot of zone coverage, and do a lot of zone-blitzing and zones+man coverage. You can't look at one side of the field and be ensured the other side is doing the same thing.

In. I make the running back go into the flat on an out route, and if the MLB follows the RB, I hit the receiver on the slant. If he stays in a zone, to the RB I go....but that's only if the screen doesn't work, which as I said, is rare.

i was playing a friend online. He was the Giants, i was the Eagles. (i know, both ****ty teams, but i had just played as the Skins and wanted to vary it up a little)

So anyway, we get into the 3rd quarter and my buddy is up on me 31 - 10. Somehow, all the breaks were just going his way. That's when the comeback started. I scored a TD and cut the lead 31 - 17 at the end of the 3rd. The 4th quarter begins and on his next possession, he sustains a nice long drive, but throws an interception that i take back for a pick 6. 31 - 24.

4th quarter is running out. He gets the ball, i force a three and out, and he punts. I have like 50 seconds on the clock, and i drive all the way down the field...85 yards or so, using my final two timeouts along the way. So no timeouts left, and i run a hurry up offense on like the 4 yard line. I go across the middle and hit my receiver for a short touchdown pass that BARELY breaks the plain while the clock expires.

so here we are, 31 - 31, going into overtime. I win the toss and never look back. I drove down the field on like 6 or 7 plays, went for the safe move and kicked the game winning field goal on 2nd down.

I won, 34 - 31. Don't think i've ever quite had a comeback that epic. My buddy was pissed to say the least.

lol, well he picked the Giants first. So i wanted someone who was ranked relatively close, and the Eagles weren't that far off in overall rank, so i went with them.

I was playing a friend who had the Titans about a half hour ago. It was 0-0 with about 2 minutes left in the first half. I throw a pass intended for Santana, and Finnegan picked it and took it back, down 7-0. I get the ball back, and run a 5 wide set, go 6 for 6, score a TD, 7-7 at the half. 2nd half starts. I get the ball. Both have three and outs. I get the ball back, and go 65 yards in about 15 plays and 5 minutes, make a FG with just over a minute left. I kick off. He gets it, gets a first down. It's 3rd and 10, he drops to throw, and hits Rocky McIntosh in the chest. I take two knees and win, 10-7. Gave up only 88 yards. :) Pride myself on defense.

Nickel, Nickel Strong, Dime, Dime Flat. Orakpo at DE. He can rush or leak to the flats.

Sometimes put Jarmon at DE in 4-3 Normal, Under Over if I want pressure off the edge. Daniels is strong against the run, but not fast enough coming around the corner.

Global changes - Landry to SS (OVR goes to 91), Rogers to FS, D. Hall CB1, Smoot CB2. Has worked pretty well so far.

Glad Anthony Alridge is on the last roster update. Almost returned a punt for a TD with him against some guy that had the Vikings. I won, 16-0 anyway. lol. Had no offensive TDs...Rocky had a pick 6 for the only TD. Had to settle for 3 field goals in the red zone, including the end of a 96 yard drive, but a win is a win!
