Maybe it's better for our team to struggle a bit early and then light on fire later in the season instead of starting out great and burning out like we did last year. We always seem to have a better shot with the first method: Cases in point, '05 and '07.

They might get to 9-7 but come on. Is that the highest you guys with blinders on will go now? A couple days ago it was 13-3.
I still say no playoffs. My high point was 9-7 for the season with @NY already being considered a loss. I'd say that if Campbell stays the starter we won't win any more than 9 games and the playoffs are hopeless with our play calling. We'd be like the 1999 Lions making it to the playoffs by accident.
If Collins or a trade happens though, maybe we can improve that.

Im more upset with play-calling and time management. I thought the line played good enough to win. But JC has to get rid of the ball faster!! I will let you know how i think we will end up after this next game.

+1
I think it will be about Campbell and the Defense getting better week in and week out. We gave up some big plays and penaltys (Dlo and Landry) that were just as bad as JC's fumble. I think we can ball and make the playoffs. Zorn needs to call a better game though.

Do you guys remember when the Giants won the Super Bowl two years ago? (obviously)
They started 0-2 and looked like George Mason's team would have been able to march down the field on them and score at will. Everyone in NY wanted Coughlin fired, Eli Decapitated and Spags packed in a box and mailed to China. Then they got their act together and turned into a great team.
The point is, it is waaaay to early to say this years team can't be good, they've got a long way to go. I saw a team that looked very out of synch, but with potential. JC made a few mind-blowingly dumb plays, but he averaged over 10 yards a completion for the game. He's looking down field! That's a good thing! I trust that he won't make those incredibly stupid plays going forward because he seemed to completely avoid them last year. And the Defense actually forced turnovers, they just need to give Hall a slap in the face or think about shading someone else to his side.
Let the team go back and look at the tape and make adjustments. Sometimes a team just needs a good old fashioned buttwhooping to really come together and realize the have to work harder. Let's hope that's the case with this years skins.

I think the question that you should be asking is what happens next?
We have an average NFL QB. We have a good defense and will win some games.
Let's say we do get to the playoffs, and I voted that we will, but then what? Until we upgrade to an above average QB this team will continue to struggle.

I'm not voting because I don't think 9-7 gets us in, so the first option is flawed. Anyway, preseason I was projecting this team to go 9-7 or 10-6, in neither scenario did I project a win at New York to open the season. I'm not worried and I'm still on board, but then again, I'm one of those fans with my "head up my ass" as it was so eloquently put earlier; I just keep hoping for the best. We can still go 15-1, and all that. I'll probably be the last one to give up on the team.
Lastly, what Larry did was point out how your poll could have been improved. I did the same thing in my first paragraph. It isn't spamming anything. Perhaps you shouldn't be trying to quote rules to someone (Larry) who has been on the board 6 years longer than you have.

Yea, because everything is pointing in that direction. Yesterday you could just tell that he is getting ready break out of his multi-year slump.
He completed over 70% of his passes while averaging over 10 yards a completion and he was hitting receivers in stride. That's exactly what everyone wanted to see from him. Did he make two really dumb plays? Of course he did. Poor ball management has been the exception and not the rule with Campbell, so I wouldn't say those two plays will be indicative of how he plays the rest of the year.
What I really question is why Zorn went away from the Pass when we were killing them with it in the 2nd quarter. They didn't have the corners to stop us when we went three wide, but then we decided to go back to our classic run-run-pass play calling and kept getting forced into 3rd and long.
When Johnson went out in the third I though we would march down the field and score because they were left with their #1, #4 and #5 corners with a back up safety. Instead, we let them off the hook by trying to run the ball.

Zorn was an NFL QB. He probably can't believe some of the dumb **** Campbell does in the pocket, with the football, his vision, his defying his own blockers attempts to protect him, his eyes seem to be closed to 75% of what is going on around him. I think Zorn neuters his play calling because he can't understand why Campbell can't do what he is supposed to do on the plays.
That's why I don't understand why he even has him starting. If you feel the need to turn your offense into something that isn't going to work then play a different QB. Or at least give Campbell chances to redeem himself for his mistakes but he doesn't do that either. It's like if Holmgren went to Martyball in 1992-1993 when Favre was throwing stupid pics every other series. I'm not saying that Campbell is Favre, but at least give him a chance to either blow it completely or make something happen. Who knows what will happen when he is given an actual chance to work on his mistakes.

Why do people like yourself consume themselves with how other fans react instead of concentrating on the play of the team? You have your priorities all screwed up.

People are pissed because our playcalling was anemic and Campbell looked like a deer in headlights. Those are REAL concerns. They were last year as well. But they were just excused as "the first year in the system". Well, year two is here and after the first game things look worse than last year.

Actually even if the Skins go 9-7 (which is unlikely) there's a good chance they won't make the playoffs. You are pretty much going to have to win the NFC East this year to go to the playoffs.

Yep, Im staying. I don't like what I have seen but i think things will get better. Im going to start looking at Zorn and his decision making in certain situations. We're still in good shape. Like I've said all along, we have 6 winnable games against the Rams, Chiefs, Lions, Bucs, Broncos, and Raiders. I still believe we can go 3-3 in the division. That leaves the Falcons, Panthers, Saints, and Chargers. With the way the Panthers played yesterday, I think we have a chance there and we play the Chargers the last week of the season and they should have the division wrapped up by then. I still think we can win 10 games.

As of 2007 when I monitored such things for fun, this forum has about 2 to 3 times as many people posting after a loss than a win. Many members simply come on to ***** and moan after a loss, and often, people who post here a lot are mistaken for them if they say they are fed up with something the team is doing wrong.
Every year people fight and argue about things the Redskins do, can't do, need to do, shouldn't do...none of us have any control over it. If they suck this year, they suck. If they do well thats pretty damn awesome. Lets try not to get too worked up over things we can't control.

By the way, I don't know if this will make you feel better, but checking last years opening game, Campbell had just 133 yards passing with a TD, this year he had 211 with a TD and an INT. Portis had 23 carries for 84 yards last year, this year 16 for 62, but his YPC was higher! That counts for something, right?
El has 7 catches for 73 yards last year, this year 7 for 98, a 25 yard improvement! Cooley only had 1 catch in last years season opener.
*Yeah, I'm frustrated too, but technically, if you compare our home openers against the same team from last year, we are actually better on offense right now. Hope this helps...hey, it was worth a shot!

Many of us are still on, but man, you've been here since 2006, you should know how this board reacts after a loss. Back in 1991, when the Skins started something like 11-0, and then lost their first game of the season. If the Internet or this board existed in it's present form back then, I guarantee you at least 10 people would have been calling for heads to roll.
