I just saw this posted by Tanner on Twitter and thought I'd share it with you guys.
I'd post part of the letter but it's filled with expletives that would be "circumventing the filter" on here. Here's the link: http://chriscooley47.blogspot.com/2009/09/fan-mail.html
I like how Cooley responds with saying it's up in the locker room.
While I don't agree with the writer of the letter on almost every point, I do agree that the team looked like they played without heart. Hopefully this will light a fire under their asses....
HAIL :point2sky
...what are your thoughts?

they did play without heart.
although i think most of them will just laugh, and not get fired up over this letter.
it is a consistent theme for this team to play with out heart, as well as the coaches. its a shame.
oh and the guy who wrote it is an idiot.

When Capt. Chaos goes into the HoF, I hope it's as Capt. Chaos. He is the heart and fire of that team. It's not Portis.

I don't remember where I heard this but the redskins have a letter from a redskins fan in the locker room. They have it from "A True Redskins fan", and its basically a letter from a fan bad mouthing the whole team. I don't believe when the players say that they don't read what the fans have to say, I'm sure it would be impossible not get wind of what the fans said about the giants game.

I hope that wouldn't be the case.....that'd really kill the affect of it.

Are you sure it's not this letter. Cooley wrote that it was posted in the locker room.

glad you posted this. I just caught tanners twitter about it too. I thought they played with fire, just too many mistakes. Is that an oxymoron? I really think it's our HC that doesn't have the fire. I support Zorn, like Zorn- but he's too medium.

Fire they certainly weren't lacking in this game. Smarts, yes, but not fire.

No it's not an oxymoron. The team played really hard. Just made a few mistakes along the way.

People that send crap like that should be slapped. And if you have to do it at least make a point and don't just sit there and cuss the whole time.

When a team wins or if the game is very close then the team played with "heart", but if the game isn't close they didn't.
I think the defense lacked intensity, and some players can be called out for poor performances, but it's hard to judge heart. It's usually pretty stupid to try (like in this situation). BTW, I like that JC isn't very emotional.

I didn't think our defense played with fire. In certain situations, like the goal line stance, you could see them playing hard. But on plays like Manningham's TD the defense looked dead. No hustle, no intensity, kind of just watching the play happen. Or at least that's what I saw.

That letter was beyond disgraceful. A lot of us fans were upset after Sunday but that letter was way way way disrespectful. Hope the players know that most of us Redskins fans our not like that. Here is to a win on Sunday.

The guy who wrote this is an inbred tool, but ... I can understand the anger and frustration. I can DEFINITELY understand it.
For us fans who've been there awhile, and remember distinctly the "glory decade," it's really hard to see the same old thing, year after year, week after week. We want so badly to be able to feel pride in the team and its performance, but they just seem to consistently let us down in big games like this one.
Frustration becomes anger after awhile. But this guy would've been a lot more persuasive without all the moronic insults and language.

First, man...I don't think I could have written such a poor letter if I tried...unless I just pounded on the keyboard for ten minutes.
However, I'm glad that Cooley has turned this into a potential motivational tool, which I think will have some effect. All of these men are very prideful and I can't see anyone taking these statements without getting a little pissed off. I think Santana esp.
He is going to have a monster game against the Rams.

I don't think the team played without heart.
The two things that really stuck out for me was the complete inability of our defense to get off the field in the first half, and the inability of our offense to threaten the entire field.
We had them in 3rd and long seemingly on every series in the first quarter... and we just couldn't make a stop. What did we have, 4 offensive plays in the first quarter? That is inexcusable. I put that on coaching. where was the pressure on third down? I don't remember us ever sending more than 5 (I was a bit buzzed during the game, someone correct me if I'm wrong). Everyone knows you blitz and get pressure on Eli.... ESPECIALLY on a passing down.
Now, as for our offense, defenses can key on what we are going to do. It's too easy for them. Stack the line of scrimmage and dare us to throw it over their heads. Same old story.
But I didn't see any lack of heart. If anyone wants to see that, look back at the Spurrier years. Those players truly didn't care.
Zorn and the coaching staff need to be careful with their comments to the media, especially with regard to specific players. At some point, they're going to lose the team. Players are already questioning their decision making skills in the locker room to WP reporters after the game.

this is the same garbage that we've seen for years and years.
i for one believe this fan had a good idea in mind, just went overboard with the mouthing off on certain players, especially AH and smoot.
he's right about moss, landry, portis, the defense, the offense etc.
the players need to know that they are expected to play with as much passion as their loyal fans. we deserve that much.

Uhmm.. I read the piece, great stuff from CC. Then I followed the link to some of the merchandise he's offering on the site. These two caught my attention:
1. A Chris Cooley woman's thong? http://thebigleague.spreadshirt.com/us/US/Shop/Article/Index/article/CC47-Thong-5003824
2. This one is bad ass, a "HTTR" hat: http://thebigleague.spreadshirt.com/us/US/Shop/Article/Index/article/HTTR-47-Hat-BLACK-5024833

The letter was O.D. It was disturbing reading a man say the team was on the field performing homosexual activites but beyond all of childish statements he made some points. I disagree about Haynesworth. I think he is great. Smoot is doing good as a slot corner. Better than Barnes or Tryon would do. Portis is great in my opinion. Moss gets doubled often but MAN... if we could get him in the slot from time to time some damage could be done.
