I dont know if you guys were watching this Will Montegomery guy play yesterday but he was getting beat left and right and the run blocking was just horrid. I feel that it would be a goood move to get Pete Kendall to fill the void....

Kendall was still interested in playing as of August. I wouldn't be averse to giving him a call. He played decently as long as his knees held up last year. And his knees won't have to endure the rigors training camp, preseason, and the first couple of games.

As a stop gap measure, we could do worse. The team seems to hide Chad Rinehart away in embarrassment, so I have no confidence he's the answer.

Montgomery got pushed back a couple times, but all in all he did okay. Just okay.

Vet minimum, plus incentives.

Although Vinny might be willing to throw in a 2nd rounder....

If Rinehart can't play in this situation (surrounded by 4 starters) then he shouldn't be on the 2009 team. He was a third-round pick and should be contributing by now.

Add guard as another need for next off-season.

I would be shocked if they didn't call him last night.

According to Kendall the team never called him though he is interested in coming back if the situation arrises.

The dudes knees are shot. Time to "take our medicine" and see what our draftees can do. Maybe they can stay on their blocks in the redzone.

I can't wait until our offensive line falls apart completely. Samuels and Heyer will get hurt soon. WHAT ARE YOU GONNA DO NOW DANNY?!?!?!?!?

I do think we probably should bring in a veteran to give us depth. That being said, it is likely to be one of the young guys starting in the near term.

Kendall is not the answer to our Redzone problems.

I don't think Kendall plays the same position that Randy does

He's played left guard and center. Don't know if he's ever lined up on the right side, though.

Really. You can't wait for that? Nice.

Why haven't we fiddled with Mike Williams at RG, ala Leonard Davis? It seems like a no brainer, which is right up this franchise's alley.

Yeah why not big fat Mike Williams at Guard..he won't have to play in space like on Right tackle...

I say give Thomas' roster spot to Kendall...let Rhinehart start and Kendall provides quality depth at guard/center and then we have insurance if Rhinehart struggles.

Montgomery is nothing more then a depth utility guy..don't want him starting.

Definitely. Bring in Kendal for depth, but let's yet the young guys show us their worth.

Mike Williams at RG seems like a good idea to a fan, but until you've seen that work you cannot say its a no brainer. Thats just plan idiotic... Pretty sure if williams isnt starting at RG its because he cannot play the position, and not b/c no one on the team thought of it

Why do you feel like you know more or have seen more than the coaches have?

Yes. Kendall does not have just "bad" knees. He has arthritic knees. He will not be able to practice, which is what brought the OLine down last year. If I were to look for a former player, maybe it would be Jason Fabini. He was our backup OG/OT last year.

I just hope Rinehart can handle the job.

Now that we've faced the Rams, we can bring Kendall back. Another pass reception/fumble/defensive TD would have been too much to overcome yesterday.

I hope he can too...but even if he can't, it's time we learned what we have in him. We need some youth at OL and we need to figure out if he's going to be one of our players there.

Are you saying Montgomery is the best backup just because he played yesterday? My guess is was that he was kept active because he plays more than one position on the line and therefore could step in easily due to an injury.
