Except we will be the answer to a trivia question until the end of eternity.....and not in a good way. I think we already have the worst loss in nfl history under our belts from back in the day we dont need this one too.

It took all the way until Thursday for it to happen. I was starting to lose faith.

Besides the fact I doubt even a loss to the hapless Lions would bring about change, there's no way I want to be labeled "that team" that stopped the second longest losing streak in NFL history.
That would see us plummet to new depths. :(
Sadly, as we currently stand, I wouldn't put money on us either way. That's how we roll, and that continues to suck.

To the OP - ANY loss by the Skins is THAT bad. I don't care that they would be the 'team' that the Lions beat, a trivia answer, etc.
I love the Skins (even when they really **** me off) and NEVER, I repeat, NEVER want to see them lose. Every week after they win is a nicer week for me while the week after a loss always is a little more bitter.
Lastly, I'm glad to see your entirely original thought brought to life in this thread. There are't ANY threads dealing with Zorn being fired and the pros/cons of that decision . Glad I tuned in :doh::doh:.

I always hear the "with the talent we have" talk. Honestly, on offense, what really makes people think we have talent that should be so much better than how we play? I'm not saying we have NO talent or that we shouldn't be playing better but, what players do we have that are SO much more talented than the defenses we face that we should just be crushing teams? Our WRs are small and easily gameplanned for, our O-line isn't consistent, our QB misses and overthrows open WRs, our RBs are easily stopped when gameplanned for...I mean when have the players we have made SO much of a difference anywhere that we can really argue the "with the talent we have" point.
That said I do think we should be better, but we aren't..haven't been for a while =p

MrMan...the Rams aren't the worst team in the league. That is apparent because of how they played the Skins. First, they have a pro bowl QB who simply doesn't have a ton of support right now. They have a PRO BOWL running back. And they have a defensive coach who gameplanned very well for the Skins because he KNOWS the Skins offense. He defeated us twice last year.
The Rams will probably end up winning 3-4 games possibly but that doesn't make them the worst team in the league and it doesn't mean they won't play a lot of close games. We met a team that was prepared for us and the Redskins playcalling and mistakes were bad enuff that we allowed them to hang around.

Exactly. First, the Rams are a better team than they were last year, because in their case, there is only one way top to go and that is up.
Second, they have a new head coach. One of the most sought after former-coordinators in the league. He also just happens to be the former G'aints defensive coordinator who coached his defense to an "unlikely" win in the Super-Dooper Bowl two years ago, AND he knows quite a bit about our offense having coached against us two games every season for the last few years!
I agree that some of the play-calling was a little curios this last week, but if Devin Thomas and Mike Sellers had have CAUGHT two stinkin' passes, we would have won by two touchdowns!

How did you feel after week 8 LAST year?! Was he "the worst head coach in the league" then?
Well, yes.
After the Rams were playing with their 3rd string DB's and one decent safety, Zorn didn't even call any deep plays. He just called WR slants and screen passes.
So yes, after the Rams game, you had to wonder if he was qualified to be here. Ever since that game, he's been the worst coach in the league.

C'mon man if we fire Zorn what is the exit strategy?
Interim coach?
Who's gonna call plays?
We gotta give Zorn a chance to find his footing and fix the Redzone problems.
Who knows what the future holds.
We could start scoring in bunches or we might stink the joint up.
But, we gotta give it a chance.
If we fire him without a plan we woud flush a potentially good season down the drain.
Unless Shanahan or Holmgren is ready to step in right now and i doubt any coach would come in from the outside when one of there coaching brethren gets the axe especially Holmgren.
We have to finish the season out with Zorn.
He could always be replaced at the end of the season by a Superbowl winning HC and there would be no shame in that.

I think it's amazing how big of a question this is becoming. I would never wish the Skins to lose, but many people feel that if they do it will be the answer to our problems on Offense. Meaning, Zorn would be gone, and we would magically get a new Head coach in for week 4 who is going to make this team an offensive juggernaut that we all wish. It's just not going to happen. Am I worried that the Skins might lose, yes, but if I was any fan on any team I would be nervous to the Lions. Any team can play a bad game and lose.
Let's hope our players come to play on Sunday and we get the victory, and hopefully not as close as last year's victory

If we lose this weekend/Zorn gets fired:
1. We will go down in infamy as the team that stopped the Lions streak
2. We will be the laughingstock of the league...not for the loss, but for firing Zorn 3 GAMES into the season.
3. firing Zorn will reinforce the lack of stability in the front office. It will not correct that instability
4. It will send a message to our good players that they need to go elsewhere if they want a stable organization to win with
NO self-respecting fan is rooting for anything other than a win this weekend...if you'd like to see a loss because of a perverse dislike for Zorn/Snyder/Cambpell/Vinny/Fincher/Portis/Fill in the Blank, then turn in your fan card and GTFO.

Anyway I'm not saying we dont have talent but we are what we are. Right now we have a pro bowl FB that is good at what hes good at but drops some passes, including TD passes, a pro bowl WR who gets shut completely down then fumbles when he does make a play,A pro bowl linemen isnt gonna help the other 4 linemen (our oline isnt bad tho) our TE is all of a sudden not a threat to score at all =( and our RB is getting swarmed on right now, and, with less touches..is less effective =\
We can turn it around tho, I have faith that we can. I just cant buy the "talent we have" arguement really anymore

So does that mean TK and Jumbo will pull the plug on the site for a couple of hours if we lose.

If we lose this week I'm sure Zorn will be fired, to me that's better than a win. Zorn by far is the worst HEAD COACH in the league.
Why was HEAD COACH in caps? Shouldn't WORST be in caps?
I don't get it...

Losing this week against the first team to go 0-16 last season, who is starting a rookie QB, who is 30th in total offense, and 27th in total defense would be an unmitigated disaster.

Except we will be the answer to a trivia question until the end of eternity
When you put it like that, we better win this game. I already felt that we better win this game, but that made it worse :hysterical:.

If the Skins lose this weekend, I hope they do fire Zorn, just to put us all out of our misery and so we can talk about something else. Another week of this will drive me over the edge.
I really don't see them losing, but any given Sunday . . . .

If you fire him now, the question is who do you replace him with? That'll make things even worse in my opinion.

OH yes it will...the implosion and flaming that occurs here will be unlike anything that has ever been witnessed before...not to mention if this is the only win they get this year...

Please. 9-9 in his career with the worst roster in the division. The idea that we have this loaded roster is hilarious.
And let's not forget no one wants to coach in DC because of Snyder and a fanbase and reporter-pool that doesn't think it's insane to fire a coach three games into the season.
Spags didn't.
Some say Schwartz didn't either.
Think about that. They didn't have a problem coaching in St. Louis or Detroit, but they didn't want to coach in Washington.
Our only other option was Fassel.
The idea that Snyder can just fire Zorn after less than two seasons and land a big name.... I mean, LMAO.

Last year we swept the Eagles and manhandled the Cryboys in the first game. Year before we should have beat the Giants first game and beat the pants off them in the second. The Cowboys had one yard rushing in a loss against us.

It's Threads like this that make me spend my time in the "Tailgate" rather than the "Stadium" - I know, I know... I could have just not clicked on the thread, but for some reason I did.
There are too many people that make threads on this board that don't know diddly about football. Please people -take some time to learn and understand the game before posting.

Try not to be such a homer.
The Eagles and Giants are loaded. Especially in the trenches, where let me drop some knowledge on you: the game is won.
Cowboys... well, I guess that's debatable.
But we don't even have a NFL-caliber right tackle on our roster.

How are the Eagles loaded? Because they got a bunch of free agents like we always do? In that case; we must be loaded too.
By the way, we beat the crap out of them twice last year.
If our tackle wasn't NFL caliber, he would not even be on our roster.

Sorry but yet another example of a bad statement. Heyer is awful and isn't starting caliber material for a RT.
We all saw how bad he played last year and everyone chalked it up to a lack of experience.
Well so far Leonard Little and Justin Tuck have combined for eight tackles (seven solo), 1.5 sacks, and two pass breakups against him.

Heyer certainly couldn't start for the Eagles, Giants, or Cowboys.
Watch him try to run block and you'll cry.

I never said he was great, but he was part of an O-line in 07 that smoked the very same Cowboys and Giants that went to the playoffs that year.
I guess I don't know what I'm talking about though, because I'm prone to making bad statements?
By the way, what's a bad statement? Anything you don't agree with?

Even when Thomas was healthy (and he was our best run blocking lineman), they'd hardly run to the right, and when they did the containment off the edge was horrid and ensured that the play was a dud.
That's 100% Heyer. I've said it many times and i'll continue to say so until we get his replacement; Stephon Heyer was a UDFA for a reason.
